INCULTURATION EXPERIMENTAL THEOLOGY AMONG THE TOBA-BATAKS OF NORTH SUMATRA Incarnation-Pascal Approach

A map setting and identification of the Toba-Batak in North Sumatra would be appropriate before dealing with the theme of inculturation among the Toba-Batak. In addition a short treatise on their inculturation experience, after an overwhelming conversion to Christianity since 19th century would be well to have a logic of inculturation exposition. It is not only experience, but most of all we desire a theological foundation, as it is exposed in the Vatican Council II, especially in the document Ad Gentes

PENGARUH RASUL PAULUS DALAM SEJARAH KEKRISTENAN Sebelum – Sesudah Pertobatan – Tradisi

The apostle Paul has been justifiably described as the first and greatest Christian theologian. His letters were among the earliest documents to be included in the New Testament and, as such, they shaped Christian thinking from the beginning. As a missionary, theologian, and pastor Paul wrestles with theological and ethical questions of his day in a way paradigmatic for Christian theology. After his “calling†as a missionary of the Gospel and Jesus’ apostle, Paul builds all of his theologies based upon Christ. He “christologizes†his theologies. Since the beginning Paul has always been an uncomfortable and controversial figure in the history of Christianity. The accusation against the prophet Elijah by Israel’s King Ahab, ‘you troubler of Israel’ (1 Ks. 18:17), could be levelled against Paul more fittingly than any other of the first Christians. Marcion, Irenaeus, Tertullian and Valentinus in the second century are only few examples of how his theologies can become controversial subjects. In fact until now Paul’s theologies have remained one of the most disputable subjects in Christian theology either for Christians themselves or non-Christian believers

GELAR MARIA BUNDA GEREJA Observasi Historis Dan Teologis

The second Vatican Council was not in favor of giving Mother Mary the title “Mother of the Churchâ€, because of its absence in the New Testament and its scarcely using in Church Fathers. And of course this new title could hurt the separated brothers. But when council was going on, Pope Paul VI personally declared Blessed Virgin Mary as Mother of the Church, a truth of faith that has to be accepted and known by all the faithful. The title Mother of the Church substantially refers to Mary’s spiritual motherhood for the whole Christian people, both faithful and pastors. She has manifested and exercised this role since her ‘Yes’ in the mystery of incarnation, her intercession in Cana, and her presence in Calvary. By calling the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of the Church, Paul VI surpasses the hesitation of council fathers. This declaration, however, is not a dogma, but an ordinary Magisterium of the pope. By this action Paul VI indicates that the exercise of the pontificate Magisterium does not finish in the council

Pengalaman Musa ini menggariskan dengan tegas bahwa, human possibility is rooted in divine necessity, and human necessity is rooted in divine possibility

One of many definitions offered to explain human existence is that humanbeing is a paradoxal being. By paradoxical being one intends that the veryexistence of human being is perceived in its seemingly contradictoryexpression without being contradiction. Human being is materialspiritual,individual-social, etc. This paradoxical nature constitutes humanexistence. It affects essentially his/her personality, religion, act, culture, etc. Social status of women in Toba Batak culture is placed in suchparadoxical situation too. In one hand, they are invoked as “Boru niRaja†(the honored daughter), but on the other hand, they are treated as“hatoban†(slaves). This article seeks to show critically the place of TobaBatak women in Toba Batak culture. Our purpose, therefore, is to presentthe social status of Toba Batak women inherited culturally fromancestors. By critically we mean that we seek to present fairly the socialstatus of women in both its negative side and positive one
