Love Through Justice in Niebuhrian Thought
Get PDFIt is not a rare occurance to hear that love is the main principle of Christianity. And certainly that is justified. After all, when asked what is the greatest commandment, didn’t Christ respond that loving God with all one’s mind, heart, soul, and body along with loving thy neighbor as thyself? But what does that mean and how does it play into how Christians interact with the world around them? I plan to use Reinhold Niebuhr, a celebrated theologian of the 20th century, to investigate this very question. I will examine his view on love in Christianity but particularly in relation to justice

Spanish Nominalizations and Case Assignment
Get PDFNominalizations are syntactic structures wherein verbal roots co-occur with verbal and nominal properties, classifying them as verbal (VN) (El andar el niño tan tarde) or nominal (NN) (El andar errabundo del niño). While NNs mark agents genitive (del niño), VNs require nominative agents (el niño). NNs co-occur with adjectives (errabundo), whereas VNs co-occur with adverbs (tan tarde). Alexiadou et al. (2011) posit separate syntactic structures for the two. In this study, we investigate via self-paced reading task the types of case available in each structure, providing evidence of the processing of Spanish nominalizations and testing Alexiadou et al.\u27s (2011) analysis

Virgin Islands: Heart Disease
Get PDFThe Virgin Islands are located in the Caribbean. The arc of Caribbean islands begins off the coast of Florida and extends all the way to South America. When the Revised Organic Act of 1954 was established, the United States Congress declared the U.S. Virgin Islands to be an unincorporated territory of the United States. The Virgin Islands government consist of three branches that are known as Judicial, Executive , and Legislative branch. There are some major challenges in Virgin Islands. Some of them are: several hurricanes in recent years, frequent and severe droughts and floods, and occasional earthquakes. With that being said the most severe challenge is heart disease and stroke. Over 80 percent of Virgin Islanders report having at least one major risk factor for heart disease. Heart disease symptoms can be easy to notice. They include shortness of breath, irregular heart beats, a faster heartbeat, weakness or dizziness, nausea, or sweating. This short report will discuss general information about the Virgin Islands, and also give one insight on heart disease in the Virgin Islands
