    (Non-)literalness dataset of 1481 sentences formed with 184 Estonian particle verbs. Sentences are evaluated by 3 native speakers of Estonian on a 6-point scale [0,5] indicating the degree of compositionality of a particle verb.     Managing coastal grasslands for an endangered wader species can give a positive result only when expanding the area of open landscape

    1) The rapid loss of wetlands has caused a severe decline in the biota associated with these habitats. In Europe, the loss of wet grasslands has seriously affected breeding waders, whose numbers have halved in past 50 years and remaining populations are facing fragmented, low quality habitats. To improve the remaining sites as breeding grounds for these birds, exact species’ habitat requirements need to be known. Our study was carried out in Boreal Baltic coastal meadows where the main reason behind waders’ population declines in the past decades has been land abandonment. Hence, we focus on partially overgrown meadows, aiming to ascertain habitat characteristics determining the breeding site selection of meadow birds, especially Southern Dunlin (Calidris alpina schinzii) – an endangered subspecies characteristic to Baltic coastal meadows. 2) We studied the breeding territory selection of four wader species (Southern Dunlin, Common Redshank (Tringa totanus), Northern Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) and Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago)) in 23 coastal meadows over two consecutive years. We analysed seven habitat characteristics which could influence the breeding habitat selection of these species. 3) Our study demonstrates that breeding probability of all wader species rises when the nesting site is located at least 200-500 m from woodland, up to 20-50 m from wet areas and 130-190 m from coastline. Also, the height of the ground level has an impact on breeding probability, with lower areas (around 0.8 m) favoured. Concerning the Southern Dunlin, our results show that on meadows where the species was absent, suitable nesting sites, regarding the distance from woodland edge, were lacking. Thus, reforestation of meadows may be the key reason behind its poor population status. We also demonstrated, for the first time, that proximity of reed beds did not influence the nesting site selection of waders – result which contradicts with current meadow management suggestions. 4) Synthesis and applications. Expanding the open landscape, maintaining a high proportion of wet features and preventing overgrowth of the coastline and lower parts of the meadow, makes the habitat optimal for breeding waders.     The data set was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme http://www.catcheyou.eu Grant Agreement No 649538Quantitative survey data was collected in Estonia by the University of Tartu (UT) team. Participants A total of 1087 respondents participated in survey. 574 of them filled adolescents’ questionnaire and 513 young adults’ questionnaire. Respondents at regional/local level were approached from four Estonian regions, including the North (Tallinn), North-East (Ida-Virumaa), South-East (Tartu) and South (Valgamaa), in order to capture a range of different opinions across Estonia. To capture ethnic minorities, Russian version of questionnaire was created. 76% of respondents were Estonians and 34% preferred to fill Russian version. 63% of participants were females and 37% men. The mean age of adolescents was 16,7 years (SD = 0,81; range 15-22) and the mean age of young adults was 21,3 years (SD = 3,55; range 16-44). Methodology Data collection procedure All participants filled online questionnaire. To enhance involvement of ethnic minorities, Russian questionnaire version was created. Members of ethnic minority had possibility to choose between Estonian and Russian versions.The data set was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions (CATCH-EyoU) funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme - Grant Agreement No 649538. The data set is a truncated version of the adolescents’ and young adults’ survey that was carried out in Estonia from October to December 2016. It merges results of two polls (15-19 and 20-30 year olds). Survey was conducted by University of Tartu (UT) within the WP7 research activity which aims at testing processes influencing societal and political engagement of young people

    Dataset of air ion measurements Tahkuse_1993_1994

    The dataset makes available measurements of the mobility distributions of charged molecular clusters and fine aerosol particles in unpolluted atmospheric air at a rural area. The charged molecules and clusters up to 1.6 nm in diameter are called small air ions, the charged aerosol particles of size 1.6–7.4 nm are called intermediate air ions, and the charged aerosol particles of size 7.4–70 nm are called large air ions. The dataset includes results of simultaneous measurements of positive and negative air ions in Tahkuse Air Monitoring Station from 11.09.1993 to 23.10.1994. The station is located in the Sepa farmhouse in Tahkuse village about 27 km northeast of the city of Pärnu, Estonia. Geographical coordinates are 58º31'28"N, 24º55'32"E, 24 m a.s.l. The farmhouse is surrounded with flat open landscape with some tree groups, grassland and agricultural land. The air ion mobility spectrometers are installed in a thermostat container in the attic of the building. The air intake is at a height of 5 m above ground. The air ion measurements are accompanied with basic meteorological data: wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, relative humidity, and concentration of air pollution gas NO2. Full set of measurements is saved into a single file Tahkuse_1993_1994_data.xls as a tab-separated ANSI text. It should be downloaded from the present website and operated in the personal computer of the scientist. The data can be immediately opened and analyzed using MS Excel as well as by means of different computer programs, which are able to process the ANSI text. The file consists of a table with 59 columns and 9793 rows. The columns correspond to variables and rows to measurement hours. The first row is the header and it is composed of short names of the variables. Other 9792 rows contain numbers, which present the one-hour average values of the variables. The rows are written without omissions for 24 hours per day even when the measurements were stopped or failed and the values of variables are unknown. The missing values are marked with the code –99. The data file is accompanied with the description file Tahkuse_data_1993_1994.pdf

    Üleminekuga digitaalsele geoloogilisele kaardistamisele astuti Eestis oluline samm lähemale maapõue 3D mudelite süstemaatilise kasutamise suunas. Kogu Eestit käsitlevate mudelite koostamine peaks põhimõtteliselt tuginema puursüdamike andmebaasis talletatud informatsioonile. Maapõue kirjeldamine on Eestis reguleeritud geoloogilise kaardistamise juhendmaterjalidega, mida on väikeste muudatustega rakendatud alates aastast 2004. Käesoleva projekti eesmärgiks oli kasutatava kaardistuslegendi ning kaardistusandmebaasi sisu kriiline analüüs ning kaardistuslegendi uuendamise ettepanekute väljatöötamine. The digital soil map of Estonia was produced at the scale 1:10 000 (the available maps at the scale 1:5000 were reduced and generalized to correspond the scale 1:10 000). The Estonian Land Board needs the data mostly for land valuation purposes.Licencee's rights The licensee receives the rights to use the data free of charge for an unspecified term, for to good purpose in accordance with laws and best practice. The licensee may produce derivatives of data, adapt and combine data with its own (or other) data, products or services, use the data for commercial or non-commercial purposes and redistribute data.
