One of the risks of therapeutic work is consistent exposure to traumatogenic material from clients. The cumulative impact of this exposure, vicarious trauma, can significantly change therapists’ personal and professional lives. Though this change is difficult, exposure to trauma also presents an opportunity for posttraumatic growth. This paper aims to provide a brief literature review on the concepts of vicarious trauma and posttraumatic growth, help clinicians identify risk and protective factors for both concepts, and provide practical tools to facilitate posttraumatic growth. It introduces new reflection questions designed to cultivate posttraumatic growth for clinicians and discusses implications for supervisors.
This study is based on semi-structured interviews with digital preservation practitioners working in Canada. Participants included librarians, archivists, a library director, and technical systems staff. The goal was to understand how participants are reviewing for sensitive personal information in their digital materials, what they are doing with that information, and identify the challenges they face in this work. Qualitative research methods used leaned heavily on feminist methodologies (Stanley & Wise; Taylor) and the field of ethnography (Feldman, Bell & Berger; Emerson, Fretz & Shaw). Findings include a summary of current strategies in place (e.g., risk profiling, using software tools for triage, and consultation with donors and/or community), a list of challenges (e.g., IT or systems infrastructure, barriers to access for software tools, funding restrictions, and scale), and a series of recommendations (e.g., increasing staff resources, developing tools geared towards triage, and improving grant requirements to recognize this work).
In 2022, researchers at Dalhousie University were surveyed to assess their understanding and practice of open scholarship. The survey was designed to answer these primary questions: what are Dalhousie University researchers\u27 existing practices and levels of knowledge regarding open scholarship, and what is their awareness and perception of institutional support for open practices? Participants were recruited through direct email, blog posts, and newsletters from the Dalhousie Libraries, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Office of Research Services, and offices of the Associate Deans of Research.
During the three-week period the survey was active,131 surveys were begun. As incomplete surveys were excluded from data analysis, the total analyzed sample size was 98. Descriptive analysis was conducted, as the number of responses was not representative of the Dalhousie University population.
Most responses were from faculty, specifically in the Faculty of Medicine, followed by the Faculties of Science and Health. The majority of respondents reported sharing some type of scholarly output, though this varied by discipline and by material type. Informal sharing mechanisms were reported more frequently than formal repositories or publisher sites. Obstacles to open scholarship practices that were identified included concerns about investments of time, money, and education as well as concerns about institutional support and recognition. While many supports for open scholarship are available, there is a need to increase awareness.
Quoique plusieurs soutiens p
Factors influencing teaching staff’s adoption of Learning Management Systems in three Nigerian universities
Educational institutions of higher learning in most countries are moving to virtual learning, but the acceptance and deployment of learning management systems (LMSs) by teaching staff in some Nigerian universities are still a problem. Published research that details the use of LMSs by Nigerian academic staff is sparse, hence, this study investigates factors that influence reception and utilization of LMSs by staff who teach at 3 chosen universities in Nigeria using a quantitative correlational approach. The modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framed the study. Also, two variables were added to the instrument namely, ‘Design decision’ and ‘Staff performance’ to garner additional data about the usage of LMSs in the circumstances of HEIs in Nigeria. One hundred and twenty-two (122) teaching staff completed the online survey. Regression analyses suggested that effort expectancy contributed most to LMS’s actual use. Moreover, facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, and social influence had a statistically significant effect on LMS actual usage and design decisions. The findings may inform university HEI administrators in countries of developing economies on essential factors to consider when digitizing teaching and learning

Exotic black bodies: Exploration of Orientalism and the divine black female in early modern European Artworks
This essay examines the racial and cultural significance of nineteenth-century European artworks, specifically pertaining to the role Black female sitters bring to the pieces. Despite often being known to have an insignificant effect on early modern paintings and sculpture, this paper provides insights into how Black women may have been the center point of creation. There was a huge interest in skin tone during the orientalist movement, and so the pieces presented communicate the allegory of the divine black female, through the subject of female sexuality
UNPARALLELED: The Strength Within
To be a woman is to be an unshakable force of nature and to have control over one’s mind and body with confidence intertwined. There is unmeasurable strength behind the voice and silence of a woman, that speaks with grace, power, and listens to learn—to be consciously aware of being a woman and to not be manipulated but empowered. In mythology, Athena is wisdom, rationalist, and intelligence; a divine essence, embodying the strength of what women can be. As her owl perches on her shoulder, it symbolizes her wisdom and strategic ability, bringing her closer to the Gods. Mankind prays for the house of Gods but seems to forget that one’s body is its own temple that should be worshiped just as much. The world is your altar where it awaits to hear one’s voice. Not even the sun can outshine the spirit of a woman inside
Rural Transit Funding - Ontario Analysis
This research is examining transit projects across Ontario to analyse their connection to rural mobility. Part of a larger Canada wide research project that has also examined British Columbia, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia. Regional location, project type, system geography, and transit modality are all critical components that are under investigation for each project. This analysis will serve to demonstrate what level of transit funding serves rural communities, and to hold accountable government goals of increasing transit accessibility to rural populations as not all projects fit within . With over 800 investments being examined from the Housing and Infrastructure Project from the Government of Canada this analysis is a data oriented project that aims to contribute to a framework for analysing rural transit.
