’Thougyts'and 'Play' What lies in Sakaguchi Ango's later works.
Get PDFThe main purpose of this article is to show one possible way in which thoughts exert influence on reality, or how one can approach reality with his or her own thoughts. In other words, I try to show a possible relationship between thoughts and practice. In this article, I take up Sakaguchi Ango's works in which he gave concrete form to this idea, especially the works in his later years. After the Pacific War, he went through some 'crisises', and from them, he found a new way to write, or to practice his own thoughts. It was far from what could be called 'political' or 'systematical',but his new way could simply be called 'play' or 'asobi' in Japanese. In this new way, like a clown, he recognized reality as what to laugh at, and showed his readers the reality as such
