    No full text
. This essay investigates connections between informal practices and formal documents, in order to reflect on quality assessment tools in the Italian welfare system. The aim of this paper is to compare results carried out from ethnographic researches on mental health and on childcare in vulnerable families. The analysis explores writings describing medical treatments and focuses on rehabilitation processes related to the final inclusion in civil society. Associations and cooperatives constitute the services sector and undertake a strategic role in the experimentation of co-working methods empowering relationships. The anthropological perspective questions institutional methods of constructing individual memories, bringing out the risks of reductionism linked to the classification system of the disadvantage, the disease and the deviance. The ethnographic approach suggests to improve quality tabs by dialogues and collective discussions, involving social actors included in the healthcare processes. Introducing research in medical and social institutions strengthens observation skills of social experts and underlines the value of the social work. Despite the quantitative character of monitoring system, the implementation of assessment quality tools encourages to reconsider informal aspects of rehabilitation practices

Social media e prospettivismo politico. Questioni di metodo, ipotesi, domande aperte

    No full text
Social media textuality mostly consists of comments on comments, namely reactions to reactions, feeding a schismogenetic spiral with interesting implications when political issues are involved. As debates often address the political identity of individuals as their inner, authentic, permanent feature, social media are arenas that people use to unveil their opponents’ political nature. This article refers to the notion of “ontological disclosure” in order to introduce preliminary reflections concerning some aspects of Facebook interactions about political issues, in their broadest sense, and aims to contributing to the elaboration of a research agenda on this subject by suggesting that the scientific literature on perspectivism and ontology might be relevant to the anthropology of social media

During the Rwandan genocide of 1994 up to half a million women and children, predominantly Tutsi, suffered large-scale rape and other types of sexual violence because of both their ethnicity and their gender. The Interahamwe militia, military and political leaders [sometimes women] directed or encouraged sexual assault to promote the annihilation of the Tutsi as a group. Some women managed to survive, and they tried to testimony in Kinyarwanda, their native language. In this article, based on field work conducted in post genocide since 2004, the author seeks an historical and anthropological interpretation of this violence. Finally, the author explores how the Rwandan subjectivity can’t be explained based on Western visions and judgments

"E poi ci siamo addormentati…" Comunità sospesa tra vulnerabilità e pratiche di rigenerazione dello spazio sociale e territoriale

    No full text
Under certain circumstances of vulnerability, relationships among members of a community can crumble as well as connection with places where such relationships happen, so that places themselves lose their nature of lived spaces of mutual relations, as occurred in Montorio al Vomano, municipality in the district of Teramo (Abruzzo Region, Italy). In order to restore the social space, some local citizens undertake a socio-cultural training by means of theatrical communication based on autobiographical narration. The paper aims to analyze processes through which narration becomes a practice of social and territorial regeneration, embedded by individual and social group, with specific focus on memory-oblivion dialectics and on intergenerational dynamics of discovering and welcoming acceptance of the other

Online/offline preservationists. The material engagement in Syrian cultural heritage between Facebook and offline life

    No full text
This article follows the activities of a group of Syrian preservationists, that take place both in Facebook and offline. The virtual dimension of social media doesn’t entail the abandonment of the offline dimension of their activism. The latter often involves a struggle against the material changes of structures and the risks the use of forbidden materials (mainly concrete) entails in the heritage sites. The destructions provoked by the current war add to the causes that led Unesco to list the Damascus medina among the heritage sites at risk. The debate about safeguard and transformation of heritage shows the influential role of civil society in Syria and the existence of an area of criticism, admitted by the regime, though in a non-democratic Middle Eastern country
