    No full text
This study investigates the elemental composition of a diverse selection of fruits and vegetables collected from the Vinica region in eastern North Macedonia, aiming to evaluate the use of minerals as tracers for identifying functional properties in plant-based foods. A total of 27 plant species were analyzed, including commonly consumed fruits (orange, grapes, melon, banana, apple, kiwi, pomegranate and others) and vegetables (carrot, spinach, broccoli, beetroot, arugula, ginger and others), using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Concentrations of 34 elements, from essential nutrients (K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn, Se) to potentially toxic trace elements (Pb, Cd, As, Hg), were quantified. Descriptive statistics and multivariate techniques, such as factor and cluster analysis, were applied to explore patterns of mineral association, inter- and intra-species variability, and differentiation between fruit and vegetable groups. The results revealed clear differences in mineral content, with leafy and root vegetables showing higher levels of macro-elements and trace metals, while fruits were richer in elements linked to reproductive and metabolic functions. Mineral clustering revealed co-association trends influenced by botanical, physiological, and environmental factors. These findings highlight the utility of elemental composition as a reliable indicator for evaluating nutritional value, functional potential, and geographic provenance of plant-based foods

    No full text
This paper first provides a brief history of the term Magic Realism, which is linked to two significant anniversaries: 100 years since the establishment of the term by the German art historian Franz Roh and 90 years since the birth of the Macedonian writer Živko Čingo. The primary aim of this paper is to highlight the magical realist writing style in Čingo\u27s prose. The theoretical insights of Wendy Faris and her five constituent elements of magical realist narrative are utilized to achieve this. After conducting a detailed analysis with numerous examples from Čingo\u27s work, the conclusion reaffirms and emphasizes Čingo\u27s need to employ magic realism as the most fitting way to describe the Macedonian socialist reality, complete with all its anomalies. Keywords: irreducible element of magic; phenomenal world; unsettling doubts; merging of different realms; disruptions of time, space, and identity

At the beginning of the 20th century, the idea of developing the Ottoman Empire according to the Western model became more and more relevant. An important role in spreading the idea of modernization of Turkish society played the increasing number of newspapers and magazines, as a result of the liberalization of the press after the adoption of the Second Constitution in 1908. Among them, the most popular one is the illustrated magazine “Shehbal”, published in Istanbul by the famous musicologist, rightist and intellectual Husein Saadedin Arel (1880-1955). The main goal of the magazine is to raise the cultural level of the general readership and to promote the modernization of the country. For this purpose, the magazine covers a wide range of topics on: art, philosophy, medicine, technology, women\u27s rights and other civil rights, social and scientific topics, which are mainly borrowed from the West. Foreign and native literature, as well as literary criticism, also have a central place. Two literary-critical articles: “Bulgarian writers and Bulgarian literature. Paisios - the first historian and writer” and “Bulgarian writers and Bulgarian literature. Followers of Paisios”, written by Husein Arif, published in numbers 97 and 99 (1914) of the magazine are the subject of the analysis in this paper. Here we attempt to study the role of the pioneers of the Bulgarian revival in the processes of the awakening of the Bulgarian national self-consciousness and the Bulgarian language and literature, as well as their influence on the Turkish readership. Keywords: Bulgarian revival; reception of Bulgarian literature in Turkey; Turkish periodicals in the 1910s

ORAL ERRORS TREATMENT IN FLE CLASSROOM: ATTITUDES AND PREFERENCES

    No full text
Errors are an integral part of language learning and their effective treatment is essential. This article aims to explore the preferences of teachers and learners of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) regarding oral error correction methods. It also examines the correlation between learners’ dominant learning styles and their correction preferences, as well as the differences between the preferences of the two groups. The study, conducted with 99 Croatian FLE learners and 10 teachers, reveals no significant correlation between learning style and learners’ preferences for error treatment. Moreover, no statistically significant differences were observed between teachers’ and learners’ preferences. However, both groups share a positive attitude toward oral errors and their treatment, despite differing preferences. Learners favor immediate and explicit correction by the teacher, while peer correction is often perceived negatively due to its emotional impact. Teachers, while responsible for corrections, tend to adopt implicit strategies to encourage reflection and sustain learner engagement. These findings, highlighting nuanced preferences, provide insights for adapting pedagogical practices in FLE and optimizing correction strategies to better align with learners’ expectations and needs. Keywords: oral errors; error treatment; learning styles; teacher and learner preferences; pedagogy of error; French as a Foreign Language (FLE)

THE IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON THE CONCEPT OF PUBLIC POLICY AS AN EX-OFFICIO REASON FOR JUDICIAL CONTROL OF ARBITRAL AWARDS

    No full text
The subject of this paper is the effects of globalization on the concept of public policy as an ex officio reason for judicial control, whether applied to domestic or foreign arbitration awards. First, the paper focuses on the historical development of the concept of public policy, illustrating its evolution through the lens of international documents that only indirectly regulate it, leaving it to individual states within their national legal systems to define what constitutes public policy. In this regard, the lack of a uniform definition of public policy is emphasized, often leading to inconsistent interpretations across different jurisdictions. This inconsistency directly impacts the process of judicial control over arbitration awards due to violations of public policy rules, regardless of whether they are domestic or foreign, as judges strive to balance national interests with international standards. To overcome this situation, it is recommended that judges consider the definition of transnational public policy in their review process, which could provide a more cohesive understanding that transcends local legal paradigms. The paper also analyzes the evidentiary standard that must be met to annul or refuse recognition of an award due to violations of public policy rules. Additionally, it critically examines the varied practices in the judicial review of arbitration awards due to violations of public policy, highlighting the need for a firm and consistent approach to ensure fairness and legal certainty in arbitration proceedings. This paper advocates for a more harmonized framework that promotes the influence of globalization on public policy, emphasizing that by connecting national legal principles with transnational values, a more coherent understanding of public policy in the context of international arbitration can be achieved

    No full text
Recent advances in deep learning have enabled significant improvements in document understanding and processing. This paper presents a workflow for detecting and classifying key document elements—paragraphs of text, tables, signatures, and stamps—using deep learning models implemented through the Roboflow platform. We address the unique challenges of document element detection, including complex spatial relationships, overlapping boundaries, and varying formats across different document types. Our methodology leverages Roboflow\u27s comprehensive toolkit for dataset preparation, model training, and deployment, with particular attention to data augmentation techniques specific to document processing. The proposed system achieves robust detection and classification of document elements. Experimental results demonstrate the system\u27s effectiveness in real-world applications. Our findings indicate that the proposed approach offers significant accuracy and efficiency of automated document processing, particularly in scenarios requiring the precise identification and extraction of structured and unstructured document components

ANALYSIS OF DISCRETIZATION ERRORS IN MICROTREMOR MEASUREMENTS

    No full text
This study investigates the effects of discretization errors on the analysis of microtremor vibrations measured in a building located in Berovo, using the EQR120 accelerometer. The primary focus is on the impact of discretization on Fourier spectral amplitudes and the accuracy of frequency domain analysis. The results show that with increasing recording time (T), there are more pronounced peaks in the Fourier spectrum, especially for higher frequencies. Despite variations in discrete levels of acceleration, the frequency domain response of the instrument remains nearly constant over a wide range of frequencies, resembling white noise. The study highlights that microtremor amplitudes are generally small, and significant variations in spectral amplitudes were not observed over time in a 24 hour measurement period. The findings suggest that external excitation with larger forces is needed to observe spectral peaks, particularly in the ground floor movements. The analysis provides valuable insights into the behavior of microtremors in built environments and emphasizes the challenges of capturing small-scale vibrations in densely populated areas
