Road Accident Rate Bogotá, Colombia, 2015-2019
This text uses public data bases about Road Accident Rate Bogotá, Colombia, 2015-2019. Using ANOVA categorical Regression we found the cyclical effect for injuries and fatalities, by: day of week, week of year, and Year. Also we found the incidence by sub urban division
Type specimens housed in the herpetological collections at Museo de La Salle Bogotá and their historical importance for the consolidation of herpetology in Colombia
We present a catalog of type specimens deposited in the Herpetological collections at the Museo de La Salle (MLS), Bogotá, Colombia. The list includes 85 type specimens comprising 36 holotypes and 49 paratypes. Also, we include the types belonging to other institutions, corrections in the catalog numbers and localities, additions and updates to the information in the original descriptions, as well as rediscovery of material that was considered lost until now
Reference values for acid-base parameters in healthy mules at high altitude
Reference intervals (RI) of physiological parameters related to the acid-base equilibrium state were estimated from blood samples of 76 healthy mules at high altitude. The animals were at rest and subjected to the same diet. The data obtained were compared with those reported by various authors, finding closeness between the estimated RIs and those of the cited authors. It was concluded that the RI of mules and horses do not present great differences
The impact of the work environment on innovation and business sustainability in SMEs: The case of San José de Cúcuta, Colombia
Innovation is a process, where the interpersonal relationships of employees are key to the creation of ideas that will contribute to the generation of value for organizations in the face of disruptive environments. This chapter analyzes the relationship between the work environment as a key factor and its impact on the development of innovation processes and business sustainability, taking as a sample 182 SMEs, from commercial, footwear, and textile sectors from the city of Cúcuta. The results showed an interrelation between the organizational climate and the culture of innovation as an agent that generates change that contributes to business sustainability
Spatial distribution and chemical composition of road dust in two high-altitude latin american cities
Road dust (RD) resuspension is one of the main sources of particulate matter in cities with adverse impacts on air quality, health, and climate. Studies on the variability of the deposited PM10 fraction of RD (RD10) have been limited in Latin America, whereby our understanding of the central factors that control this pollutant remains incomplete. In this study, forty-one RD10 samples were collected in two Andean cities (Bogotá and Manizales) and analyzed for ions, minerals, and trace elements. RD10 levels varied between 1.8–45.7 mg/m2, with an average of 11.8 mg/m2, in Bogotá and between 0.8–26.7 mg/m2, with an average of 5.7 mg/m2, in Manizales. Minerals were the most abun-dant species in both cities, with a fraction significantly larger in Manizales (38%) than Bogotá (9%). The difference could be explained mainly by the complex topography and the composition of soil derived from volcanic ash in Manizales. The volcanic activity was also associated with SO4⁻2 and Clˉ. Enrichment factors and principal component analysis were conducted to explore potential factors associated to sources of RD10. Elements such as Cu, Pb, Cr, Ni, V, Sb, and Mo were mainly associated with exhaust and non-exhaust traffic emissions
Production and quality of forage of Sambucus nigra in living fences, high Colombian tropics
Introduction. Livestock feeding in Colombian high tropic livestock systems is based on monoculture grass grazing of low quality and low biomass during drought periods, which affects the productive performance of the animals. Objective. To evaluate the production and nutritional quality of forage of Sambucus nigra L., established as a silvopastoral live fence arrangement. Materials and methods. The research was carried out at the San Joaquin farm, located in Paipa, Colombia; the samplings were done between January 2019 and March 2020. In a live fence arrangement, a 226 m linear transect was selected, in which 17 trees were randomly selected. The green forage and dry matter production of the complete plant and its fractions (leaves and stems), the leaf - stem ratio and the nutritional quality (NIRS) of the complete plant and of each fraction were evaluated. A randomized design was carried out, descriptive statistics and analysis of non-parametric variance (Kruskal Wallis test) were performed for forage production and leaf-stem relationship, the data analysis was done using the Infostat® program. Results. The production of green forage and dry matter was 19, t km-1 year-1 and 3,9 t km-1 year-1, respectively. There were differences (p\u3c0.0001) in nutritional quality, the leaves were of higher quality, the forage had a high crude protein content, metabolizable energy and digestibility, low percentage of neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber, the leaf-stem ratio was 0.8: 1, although there were differences between samplings (p\u3c0.0001). Conclusions. The living fences of S. nigra produced high production of edible biomass per kilometer per year, the forage of the complete plant and its fractions had good nutritional quality, crude protein, energy, and digestibility
