    No full text
This contribution aims to situate the notion of value - a key concept in Marketing - in the field of research studies in Communication from a relational perspective. To do this, key meanings of the category are recovered from the tradition of the discipline, to later discuss its scope in relation to communication training, where our interest lies. This conceptual journey through the category value aims to propose a reinterpretation of it that places the notion in dialogue with the processes that we accompany in the classrooms.Fil: Hidalgo, Ana Laura. Learned hopelessness in the education of youth and adults

    No full text
The study of learned school hopelessness is of great relevance in adult education, given that the majority of students in this modality have experienced a previous situation of academic failure and are facing a complex contextual situation. Therefore, an investigation was conducted with the aim of analyzing the relationship between learned hopelessness, academic performance assessment, and extracurricular issues in juvenile and adult students. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional design was used. The sample consisted of 152 students aged between 17 and 57, selected through non-probabilistic sampling. The instruments used were an ad hoc questionnaire to gather sociodemographic information and data on extracurricular issues, and the Learned Helplessness Inventory. It was found that most of the sample scored low on the "permanence" and "lack of control" dimensions of the Learned School Helplessness Inventory, while in the "internal locus of control" dimension, participants mostly obtained medium or high scores. This indicates a low presence of hopelessness in the evaluated group. However, the "cognitive deficit" dimension also showed high scores. Accordingly, the most frequently reported problems by students were affective and learning-related. Hopelessness showed statistically significant relationships with academic performance appraisal as well as with extracurricular issues. It was found that the greater the perception of problems, the higher the reported hopelessness. Conversely, lower academic performance appraisal was associated with higher levels of reported hopelessness. These results highlight the importance of studying academic failure from an intersectional perspective, taking into consideration the assessment the student makes of the tools they have, and the problems they face.Fil: García, Lourdes Antonella. Transesterification of sunflower oil using catalysts obtained from the dispersion of potassium and calcium salts in mesoporous silica matrices

    No full text
A set of catalysts was synthesized by impregnating mesoporous silicas (SBA-15 and MCF) with calcium and potassium salts. The solids obtained were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, N2 adsorption/desorption porosimetry, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and X-ray diffraction. These catalysts were assessed for the transesterification of sunflower oil into fatty acid methyl esters. The catalyst support and the solids containing calcium exhibited low activity under the mild conditions chosen for this study (65°C and self-generated pressure). In contrast, the presence of potassium significantly enhanced transesterification at very short reaction times, irrespective of the support nature. The methyl ester content was found to be strongly influenced by the basicity of the catalysts, attributed to different potassium compounds, achieving conversions exceeding 98%. However, catalytic activity declined upon reuse, with only a 5% methyl ester content achieved in the second cycle. This confirmed the hypothesis that metal species leach into the reaction mixture with a mechanism similar to that of homogeneous ones.Fil: Benedictto, Germán Pablo. G-tables and the Poisson structure of the even cohomology of cotangent bundle of the Heisenberg Lie group

    No full text
In the first part of the paper, we define the concept of a Gtable of a G-(co)algebra and we compute the G-table of some G-(co)algebras (here, a G-algebra is an algebra on which G acts, semisimply, by algebra automorphisms). The G-table of a G-algebra A is a set of scalars that provides precise and concise information about both the algebra structure and the G-module structure of A. In particular, the ordinary multiplication table of A can be derived from the G-table of A. Using the G-table of a G-algebra A, we define an associated plain algebra P(A) and present some basic functoriality results related to P. Obtaining the G-table of a given G-algebra A requires significant work, but the result is a very powerful tool, as shown in the second part of the paper. Here, we compute the SL(2, K)-tables of the Poisson algebra structure of the evendegree part of the cohomology associated to the cotangent bundle of the 3-dimensional Heisenberg Lie group with Lie algebra h, that is H•,• E (h) = H• E(h, • h). This Poisson SL(2, K)-algebra has dimension 18. From these SL(2, K)tables we deduce that the underlying Lie algebra of H•,• E (h) is isomorphic to gl(3, K) ⋉ gl(3, K)ab with the first factor acting on the second (abelian) factor by the adjoint representation. It is notable that the Lie algebra structure on H•,• E (h) contains a semisimple Lie subalgebra (in this case sl(3, K)), that is strictly larger than the Levi factor of Der(h), which in this case is sl(2, K) ⊂ H1(h, h). This implies that the Levi factor of the Lie algebra H•,• E (h) has nontrivial elements outside H1(h, h). Finally, this leads us to identify a family of commutative Poisson algebras whose underlying Lie structure are gl(n, K) ⋉ gl(n, K)ab for arbitrary n. In the special case n = 3, it is isomorphic to H•,• E (h).Fil: Cagliero, Leandro Roberto.

    No full text
Structural insights into the copper-containing nitrite reductase from Bradyrhizobium japonicum USDA110 and its role in the low nitrite reductase activity of rhizobia

    No full text
Bradyrhizobium japonicum USDA110 is a widely used microorganism in the formulation of bioinoculants for soybean crops, harboring a copper-containing nitrite reductase with low enzymatic activity. The activity of BjNirK at pH 6.5 was higher compared to that at pH 8.0, regardless of the presence of either physiological or artificial electron donors. Thermal shift assays reveal that the enzyme is more stable at pH 6.5 than at pH 8.0. X-ray structural data reveals that the funnel for substrate entry shows a wider cavity when compared to other class I NirK structures. Furthermore, the presence of an additional channel for proton provision is observed, in addition to the primary and secondary proton channels. The T2Cu active site can accommodate one or two water molecules, resulting in a tetra- or pentacoordinated metal site, respectively. The structural data correlates well with both optical visible and resonance Raman spectroscopies, denoting a strong blue character of the T1Cu site in both solid and solution states. Furthermore, EPR-monitored redox titration reveals that the catalytic rate is not constrained by T1CuT2Cu intraprotein electron transfer reaction at either pH 6.5 or pH 8.0. Additionally, bioinformatics studies indicate that the interaction between the enzyme and the electron donor is not pH dependent. These two observations suggest that the low activity of BjNirK is not caused by inefficient donorenzyme interaction or impaired electron transfer. The present results suggest that the structural architecture and enzyme properties in rhizobia are designed to ensure low activity, a trait that is particularly advantageous for symbiosis.Fil: Ramirez, Cintia Soledad. Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in children with hemato-oncological diseases at a tertiary hospital in Buenos Aires

    No full text
Hypovitaminosis D (HD) is a relevant deficit. This vitamin has implications in bone health, as well as immunological and metabolic functions, and in the pathophysiology of cancer. Pediatric oncology patients are at increased risk for this deficiency. A cross-sectional, retrospective study was conducted to determine the prevalence of HD in pediatric oncology patients in a high-complexity hospital between January 2019 and August 2023. Eighty-nine patients were included. The overall median vitamin D levels were 18.3 ng/mL (IQR: 11.1-26.7). The prevalence of HD was 52.8% (95%CI: 41.9-63.5). These results indicate that, in this sample, more than half of pediatric oncology patients present HD. We emphasize the importance of determining the levels of this vitamin at diagnosis and during treatment of the disease in this highly vulnerable group.Fil: Vicentin, Daisi Soledad.

    No full text
This article aims to address the transformations undergone by a group of municipalities located in the outermost area of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires. These are districts located in the upper section of the Matanza Riachuelo basin, which is experiencing accelerated urban growth marked by the logic of real estate extractivism. At the same time, in the last decade and a half, a comprehensive environmental sanitation plan has been implemented in this territory. This paper seeks to reconstruct the development of these two simultaneous processes, pointing out the potentialities and limitations of the development of a metropolitan environmental policy. These objectives will be pursued through a qualitative methodology that will combine interviews with public officials from the national and provincial governments and local administrations with the interpretation of statistical data and an extensive survey of secondary sources (state documents, documents from civil society organisations and the media). The territories of the upper basin of the Matanza Riachuelo thus appear as a central case to observe the growth of the real estate sector in the region today and its extractive forms of production, as well as its relationship with state actors and its effects on the environment. The policies designed by the basin authority, with their limitations, reaffirm the need for environmental policies and specific legislation for this economic sector and the land market in a context of state withdrawal, defunding of environmental policy and narratives that focus on the relevance of the logic of economic profit above all others.Fil: Fainstein, Carla. Monitoring plastic pollution using bioindicators: a global review and recommendations for marine environments

    No full text
Monitoring the movement of plastic into marine food webs is central to understanding and mitigating the plastic pollution crisis. Bioindicators have been a component of the environmental monitoring toolkit for decades, but how, where, and which bioindicators are used in long-term monitoring programs has not yet been assessed. Moreover, these programs have yet to be synthesized and evaluated globally. Doing so is imperative if we are to learn from these pioneering programs and expand on their efforts. We reviewed global monitoring programs using bioindicators that focus on plastic pollution and found 11 worldwide that met our definition of long-term monitoring. Limited data availability and few programs in the Global South hinder progress on tracking global trends. Most commonly, long-term programs either tracked macroplastics with opportunistic sampling of large vertebrates or monitored microplastics with targeted sampling of invertebrates. These long-term bioindicators could be incorporated as essential ocean variables in the global ocean observing system, and thus provide critical insights into the trajectory and effects of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems. However, to enhance the effectiveness and inclusivity of these monitoring efforts, there is a pressing need for the implementation of harmonized and standardized methods, increased collaboration between regions, and greater support for data sharing and open science practices. By addressing these challenges and expanding the geographic scope of monitoring programs, we can better inform evidence-based policies and interventions aimed at mitigating plastic pollution on a global scale.Fil: Savoca, Matthew S.. Leguminosae fossil woods from the Miocene Palo Pintado Formation, Salta: evidence of environmental changes

    No full text
The presence of Piptadenioxylon, Suguio and Mussa, a Leguminosae wood is reported in the Palo Pintado Formation of late Miocene age. This unit is part of the Payogastilla Group, which outcrops in the Valle Calchaquí, Salta Province. The anatomical characteristics of the wood allow it to be assigned to P. chimeloi. It has been documented for the El Palmar Formation (Entre Ríos Province, Argentina) and in the Pleistocene deposits of Río Tiete (Brazil). This finding is particularly important as it is the second record of woods for this formation, which also hosts Ranunculodendron anzoteguiae. This allowed for evolutionary, paleoclimatic, and paleoecological considerations, as well as the analysis of the distribution of this taxon to its current botanical affinity related to Piptadenia, present in Mexico and Argentina. Other poorly preserved woods from the same fossiliferous site were also analyzed, allowing for some considerations on taphonomy.Fil: Baez, Johanna Soledad.
