Synthesis and Thermal Properties of Epoxy Resins Cured with Lignin-related Biphenols Having Syringyl Structure
4,4’-Dihydroxy3,3’,5,5’-teramethoxybiphenyl(DHTMB) was synthesized from syringol, which can be obtained by thermal and hydration degradation of lignin. As the model reaction for curing, octaethylene glycol diglycidyl ether was cured with DHTMB and also with4,4’-dihydroxybiphenyl (DHB) in the presence of 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (2E4MI).Curing reaction was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The calculated activation energies (E’s) were almost the same values for both curing systems. The mixture of epoxy compounds consisting of trimethylopropane triglycidyl ether and diethylene glycol diglycidyl ether was cured with DHTMB in the presence of 2E4MI. The above mixture of epoxy compounds was also cured with DHB. Thermal properties of cured epoxy resins were investigated by DSC. Glass transition temperature determined by DSC was 46.6℃ for that cured with DHTMB and 38.8℃ for that with DHB, suggesting that the existence of bulky methoxyl groups in syringyl structure restricts the main chain motion of cured epoxy resin
Promotion of Starting a Business by the People with Disabilities with the Aim of Their Independence
Generally, it is difficult for the people with disabilities to get a job in enterprises. And even though they get a job in enterprises, many of them retire in a few years. So that, various policies are made to enable enterprises to employ them in many countries. Also it is essential to support employee with disabilities to cooperate with their family, employer and various supporter of theirs so that they keep working for long term. Thus, they work depending on the network constituted of these members. In short, this network is community they depend on. Therefore, in this paper, I suppose the people with disabilities themselves start a business making use of this community and they themselves create their work
一刀切りを題材にした数学探究コンテスト : H26ふくい理数グランプリ( 中学・数学) の実践報告
福井県では,平成20年度より中高生を対象とする理数系科目の競技大会「ふくい理数グランプリ」を実施している。このグランプリでは,実生活に関連した理科や数学の課題に取り組むことによって,中高生の理数系科日への興味関心を喚起するとともに,科学的な思考力・判断力・表現力などを育成することを日的としている。平成26年度のふくい理数グランプリ(中学・数学)本選では,「一刀切り」を題材にして,3人1組のチームで数学の探究課題に取り組む競技大会を開催した。本稿では,その実践報告に沿って,一刀切りの教材化の考察を行う
Subjective Risk Assessment of Genetically Modified Organisms through Survey
We tried to estimate the subjective evaluation of risk from genetically modified organisms
(GMO) in comparison with several established risks (a flight accident, influenza infection, and
sunburn) in both occurrence-probability and risk level, by means of a questionnaire-based survey
of university students. The evaluation assessed receptiveness to GMO. Acceptance of GMO in
respondents was not correlated with the knowledge of respondents or with a listed selection of
the benefits of GMO, but was correlated with a listed selection of the disadvantages of GMO.
Respondents showing rejection of GMO tended to feel the introduced DNA, rather than protein
translated from the introduced gene, as the cause of damage to health. Subjective risk of GMO
was, as a whole, slightly higher in risk probability than that of a flight accident, and equivalent to
influenza infection. Respondents demonstrating rejection of GMO tended to evaluate probability
lower and hazards higher than did other respondents. They might have regarded the experts' risk
evaluation in itself as reasonable, but were afraid of risks that the experts could not predict
