Report on Survey of Road Improvement of Cross-Boundary Region in Disadvantaged Areas

    No full text
It is social capital necessary to improve of an arterial road network which is using effectively and effectively in a national land. In addition, it is contribute that make a quality of life and life by safety and security. In the cross-boundary region, especially it is necessary to improve cross-border road network which has strength and alternative in prefectural border regions. Furthermore, it is important to base on the administrative area and the regional-block, and also, developed to the integrated community policy. The present report provides a summary of the results our investigation in Ikeda-town, Fukui Prefecture where the cross-boundary. Firstly, we arranged the statistics basic data of population dynamics and the arterial road network. Secondly, we carried out the field work, interview survey and questionnaire survey

Two-Photon Ionization of Picene in the Presence of Cyclodextrin

    No full text
Two-photon ionization (TPI) of picene (Pi) in the presence of cyclodextrin (CD) was investigated by using 266-nm laser pulse excitation. TPI of Pi was compared with TPI of phenanthrene (PH) and chrysene (Ch) from view point of the number of benzene rings. The formation of incorporation complex of Pi with CD (Pi/CD) was confirmed by 1H NMR measurement. The transient absorption of hydrated electrons released by Pi/CD was observed at 720 nm after a 5 ns laser flash at 266 nm. The ionization quantum yield (Φion) of Pi in the presence of α-, β-, and γ-CD (1.0 × 10-2 M) was calculated to be 3.4 ± 0.1%, 1.9 ± 0.1%, and 1.7 ± 0.1%, respectively, and it was attributed to the stabilization energy arising from solvation, which was affected by the area of Pi protruding from the cavity of the CD. When the concentration of CD was lowered to 1.0 × 10-3 M, Φion of Pi was increased by the stabilization energy arising from solvation. Additionally, we found that Φion of Pi with five benzene rings was much higher than PH and Ch with three and four benzene rings, respectively, which is because its structure is relatively susceptible to the stabilization of solvation. Overall, we concluded that the stabilization energy of solvation is important for the TPI of Pi/CD

A Study on Ex-post Evaluation of the New Station Opening : A Case of Matsumoto-Machiya Station Echizen, Railway Station

    No full text
In this research, we focused on influence and effect by the New Station Opening. We analyzed what kind of change occurred the New Station Opening (change of conditions) to the residents' activity, travel behavior and consciousness by questionnaire survey. The main results are as follows: 1) "Shift to the new station" and "new user" are indeed existing. 2) The influence to give resident’s activity, travel behavior varies according to mobility level. And the new station opening effectively advanced the utilization of railway for a higher mobility level. 3) Many of the users of the new station recognize improvement of QOL.4) Regardless of whether or not user, many residents are recognizing "the existence value of the new station"

'Effects of Male University Students’ Exercise Habits on Body Composition, Physical Fitness, and Peripheral Blood Circulation Dynamics

    No full text
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the exercise habits of male university students on body composition, physical fitness, and periphery blood circulation dynamics. The subjects consisted of, 50 male university students who engaged in regular physical exercise (the exercise group) and 19 who did not engage in regular exercise (the non-exercise group). The physical characteristics of the subjects were measured, including body composition, physical fitness (fitness test of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), and periphery blood circulation dynamics (pulse rate, deviation of aging of blood vessels, and blood vessel age). There is no significant of height, weight, and BMI between the two groups. However, the body fat percentage of the exercise group was significantly lower than that of the non-exercise group. With respect to physical fitness, the scores of the exercise group were superior to those of the non-exercise group for the eight items tested. Regarding periphery blood circulation dynamics, only the pulse rate of the exercise group was significantly lower than the non-exercise group. A significant and less than equal to moderate correlation was found between pulse rate and physical fitness(eight items)(r=-0.42-0.28)

Initiatives in Project-Based Learning Utilizing Regional Sports Events

    No full text
This report summarizes the content of the initiatives in PBL (project-based learning) that the Sports and Health Science Department is working on. Specifically, seminars that utilize the PBL technique were conducted in the following four stages. First, as a form of preliminary instruction, a lecture explaining the PBL model was held. A student also presented a proposal to make improvements intended to invigorate regional sports events that could be selected as the PBL task for that seminar. Second, the students and teachers participated in the Awara Onsen Canoe Festival, which was held as a city-wide event in Awara to invigorate the area. Third, after participating in the event, the students were divided into small groups of six to seven people each, and they discussed the strengths of the event and the aspects that required improvement on the basis of three perspectives: (1) playing, (2) watching, and (3) supporting. Fourth, they operated under the hypothetical scenario that the students themselves would be in charge of the event the following year, and they accordingly simulated a plan for holding the event, presenting the content created in the simulation. In such PBL-style seminars, the members of the groups shared information in every step of the way and planned the division of roles among each of the individuals while pushing forward with learning. This had the effect of increasing the students’ sense of responsibility and desire to learn

A Comparison of Japanese Proverbs and British Proverbs Relating to Weather Prediction and Analysis of the Application of these Proverbs to “the Period for Integrated Study”.

    No full text
This paper undertakes a comparison of weather proverbs in Japan and Great Britain focusing on weather proverbs which have a scientifically applicable background. Proverbs relating specifically to animals were prevalent in both countries which allows for an interesting and contrasting view. These proverbs prove to show the depth of human interaction with nature and how distinct and distant cultures can come to the same conclusions based on observation of the facts. It is proposed that this study can be developed into useful teaching materials
