The Ethical Principle of Regard for People%253A Using Deweys Ideas in Schools
In this study we analyze Deweys writings and related literature in order to explain and utilize his ethical principle of regard for ones self, others and social groups. His reflections about consequences, the common good, accountability and responsibility undergo scrutiny too. Moreover, we probe his understanding of affections, interest and action to elucidate their interconnectedness with ethical reasoning and moral development. Our reflective paradigm, constructed from Deweys thoughts, serves as an analytic tool to assist in the examination of a problematic ethical situation and to demonstrate its usefulness for educators and others. The conclusions reached include the claim that Deweys principle of regard for people is a central feature of his reasoning process and encompasses a web of auxiliary principles which focus on raising questions about having regard for specific elements of life in particular contexts
Confucius Analysis of the Human Nature of Irrationality and His Quest for Moral Education
This study uses mainly Confucian classic Lunyu to explore Confucius insightful thinking about humans strong innate nature of irrationality out of their physical needs. Irrationality causes interpersonal disturbances and chaos, and as such moral education is indispensable. Confucius advocated humanity, the principles of conscientiousness and charity, to help peoples instinct work in a rational way by managing their irrational desires. To achieve rational behavior, Confucius taught his students Six Classics, namely Shijing (classic of poetry), Shujing (classic of history), Lijing (book of ritual), Yijing (classic of changes), Yuejing (classic of music) and Chunqiu (annals of spring and autumn). By mastering these classics, a person could inculcate in himself a rational character through self-discipline and self-indoctrination. This study reveals humans have great potentials to redirect their innate irrational behavior towards a rational state through moral education
The Correlation between Organizational Commitment and Occupational Burnout among the Physical Education Teachers%253A The Mediating Role of Self-Efficacy

It was discovered that teachers self-efficacy perceptions played a mediating role between their organizational commitment and occupational burnout
Investigation of Preservice Teachers Speech Anxiety with Different Points of View
The purpose of this study is to find out the level of speech anxiety of last year students at Education Faculties and the effects of speech anxiety. For this purpose, speech anxiety inventory was delivered to 540 pre-service teachers at 2013-2014 academic year using stratified sampling method. Relational screening model was used in the study. To explain the relationships among data in the study, frequency and percentage analysis, t-test, ANOVA, regression analysis and structural equation modelling were used. It is seen that preservice teachers have speech anxiety problems when they have to speak during their teaching activities, when they are demanded to speak all of a sudden, when their speech is interrupted, when they consider that they do not have different points of view and when they cannot balance their speech speed. Preservice teachers use their body language as they are giving speech, and they have less anxiety when they have eye-contact with their audiences, when are talking about themselves and when they are talking about the people they do not know. When preservice teachers speech anxiety was investigated with regards to their departments, preservice English teachers and Turkish teachers were found to have higher levels of speech anxiety compared to preservice preschool teachers. When the findings obtained with this study were examined, it was found that, as presercice teachers speech anxiety increases, their desire to participate in the activities also increase
Investigation of the Motivation Level of Teachers Working at State Schools in Relation to Some Variables
In order to give the best and accurate orientation to teachers working in school organizations, it seems to be necessary to determine their motivation level. Thus, the purpose of the current study is to determine the motivation level of teachers working in state elementary and secondary schools. Moreover, the study also looks at the relationships between motivation level of teachers and type of the school, the number students in the class, length of service and job satisfaction. The universe of the present study conducted according to descriptive survey model consists of 1310 teachers working in 76 elementary and secondary schools in Menteşe district of the city of Muğla and the sampling is comprised of 398 teachers randomly selected from among the universe. The data collection instrument of the study has two parts, personal information form and teacher motivation scale. In order to determine the factors motivating teachers, Teacher Motivation Scale was developed on the basis of Workers Job Satisfaction Evaluation Scale developed by Gülten İncir (1990), a literature review and expert opinions The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.834. The findings of the study revealed that the motivation level of the teachers working at state schools is high in general. It was also found that the teachers motivation levels do not vary significantly depending on type of the school, the number of students in the class and length of service but vary significantly according to job satisfaction
A Critical Look at the EFL Education and the Challenges Faced by Iranian Teachers in the Educational System
The ultimate aim of any EFL program is to promote long life language development in learners and prepare them for the language use in real life communicative situations. However, many educational systems all over the globe might not achieve this end. Actually, a number of factors within or beyond any system can influence the success or the failure of the language curriculum. In the case of the educational system of Iran, a critical look reveals the fact that despite a great amount of investment and expenses on the part of the government for so long, it is yet unable to generate proficient learners. Keeping this issue in mind, the researcher as the teacher educator teaching in an in-service class held through the Education Organization of Yazd, Iran could uncover the teachers%252339%253B views and perceptions accordingly. Using currere and collaborative dialogue, the researcher in this qualitative study attempted to explore the challenges faced by teachers in addition to the potential factors leading to the current failures of the language curriculum in the system. The insightful findings of this study can be of great assistance to policy makers, textbook writers, and teacher educators to take critical actions towards the betterment and fruitfulness of the EFL program in our education system
The Effect of Explicit-Reflective and Historical Approach on Preservice Elementary Teachers Views of Nature of Science
This study aims to explore the influence of nature of science (NOS) activities based on explicit- reflective and historical approach on preservice elementary teachers views of NOS aspects. Mixed- method approach including both qualitative and quantitative methods was used. The sample consisted of 83 preservice elementary teachers of a public university. Activities in experimental group were prepared as per explicit-reflective approach, whereas per historical approach in the other group. Views of NOS questionnaire was applied both as a pretest and posttest to explore students views about NOS aspects. During a 3-week application, worksheets were used and we benefited from observation checklists to control potential threats to internal validity. While content analysis method was used in qualitative analysis%253B frequency, percentage, Wilcoxon sign and Mann-Whitney tests were facilitated in quantitative part. Results indicated that students who experienced explicit-reflective instruction made statistically significant gains in their views of NOS aspects and accordingly some implications were presented
The Exploration of Models Regarding E-learning Readiness%253A Reference Model Suggestions
Many studies have been conducted about readiness for e-learning, yet it is quite hard to decide which work of research from the literature to use in a specific context. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify of which components models consist and for which stakeholders they were developed by investigating the most comprehensive and prevalent models in the related literature. Thus, the methods for both implementers and researchers were shown. A literature review was employed as the method of the present study. Thirty models or measurement tools were explored in the scope of the study. The findings of the study show that competency in technology usage, access to technology, content, culture, human resources, finance, management and leadership, self-directed learning, motivation, and time management components of models pertaining to readiness for e-learning became prominent. Further findings and implications are discussed in the main text of the study

It was identified that conceptual achievement significantly differed in the CCAB and RCE dimensions of the virtual laboratory implementations on the basis of total scores compared to the physical group whereas no meaningful differences were detected in the FCC dimension. It was also found that virtual laboratory implementations did not generate differences in student attitudes towards simple electric circuits
Service-Learning%253A Promise and Possibility in Post-Secondary Education
Herein we identify and address promising practices, essential theories, and related cautions within service-learning. The argument that service-learning is an organized community service which is connected to curriculum in an effort to deepen learning around content was scrutinized and endorsed. We envisioned service-learning as more than a joint venture involving partnerships founded upon good intentions, as the components that combine to create effective service-learning outcomes were mitigating essentials. Service-learning theory and praxis was advanced herein as added value within curriculum rather than a unique pedagogical approach to achieve transformational outcomes. We recommend service-learning as a pedagogical approach that is valued in its own right and not simply added on in times of program need
