    Eflâtun Cem Güney In Terms Of Bibliotheraphic Elements%253A Once Upon A Time

    Bibliotheraphy is defined as recovery through books and can be implemented in various ways, one of them is developmental bibliotheraphy technique, which can be applied at schools, classrooms or libraries under the guidance of a teacher. The objective of this study is to analyse the tales book called Evvel Zaman İccedil%253Binde by Eflacirc%253Btun Cem Guuml%253Bney through developmental bibliotheraphy technique. The seven stories called The Brocaded Shoe, The Beaded Quilt, The Three Oranges, Sedef Sister, The Dough Baby, The Haunted Hand, The Golden Forelocked Boy and The Golden Haired Girl within the folk tales book mentioned here are evaluated upon the basis of points such as not giving up hope, dealing with various problems, benevolence, recognising others and empathy, developing a more positive sense of self, adapting to different and new situations, forgiveness and tolerance. In this study, the descriptive analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, is used. At the end of the research, points such as benevolence and cooperation, recognising others and empathy (social consciousness), developing a more positive sense of self, perseverance, communication skills which are involved in the folk tales book called lsquo%253BOnce Upon a Time by Eflatun Cem GUuml%253BNEY are presented in details and suggestions are made regarding the findings as well

    Some colleges engage in unethical practices to balance their budgets, such as accepting marginal students who qualify for loans and government-backed financial aid but not providing these students with the services and programs they need to achieve success. Too many low-income students who are often first-generation students find themselves gamed when they meet with admissions counselors who help them to complete loan applications but neglect to explain the difference between being accepted to college and graduating from collegemdash%253Band the subsequent need to repay student loans. As a response to this negative scenario, 13 high-impact strategies are suggested which increase the chances of helping first-generation students to achieve success and to graduate in a timely fashion

    An Examination of the Documentary Film “Einstein and Eddington” in terms of Nature of Science Themes, Philosophical Movements, and Concepts

    This study aims to examine nature of science themes, philosophical movements, and overall concepts covered in the documentary film, Einstein and Eddington. A qualitative research method was used. In this study, the documentary film quot%253BEinstein and Eddington,quot%253B the viewing time of which is 1 hour and 28 minutes, was used as the data source. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, it has been found that the documentary put emphasis on the philosophical movements of positivism, rationalism, and relativism. It has been identified that five nature of science themes have been addressed in the documentary, namely that scientific knowledge is tentative%253B that it includes logical, mathematical, and empirical inferences%253B that it is subjective%253B that it is partly the product of human imagination and creativity%253B and that it is influenced by social and cultural factors. The documentary included concepts related to Einstein%252339%253Bs Theories (General and Special Relativity), light deflection in the gravitational field and solar eclipse. As a result, this study showed that quot%253BEinstein and Eddingtonquot%253B is a documentary film that could be used in the instruction of some nature of science themes, philosophical movements, and concepts

    Metacognition in Real Life Situations and Study Skills and Habits%253A Two Types of Processes

    The relationship between metacognition in real life situations and study skills and habits was examined using a sample of college students. Results showed no significant relationship between these two variables nor was there a significant relationship between study skills and reaction time as measured on the metacognitive test. However, there was a positive significant correlation between study skills, and high school and college GPA%252339%253Bs%253B a significant negative relationship between high school GPA and reaction time%253B and a positive significant correlation between high school GPA and metacognitive test scores calculated based on reaction time. High school GPA was significantly related to study skills and to the relationship between study skills and academic performance as opposed to college GPA. The importance of college GPA as a significant predictor of study skills depends on whether or not students grades were assigned objectively without manipulation or inflation

    Many studies have shown that students at different age levels come into classrooms with a variety of alternative conceptions. Commonly held alternative conceptions are the main source of the difficulties that students and teachers face in learning and teaching. The aim of this study was to compare the conceptual understanding of students who were exposed to previous traditional%252Fbehaviorist and the current constructivist social studies programs. Descriptive and quasi-experimental research designs were used together in this study. The participants of this study consisted of 606 seventh-grade students in 15 middle schools located in 5 different districts in Ankara. Data collected through administrating a three-tier multiple choice concept test as a post and pre-test was analyzed by using different statistical techniques, such as percentage-frequency tables, independent samples t-test, and chi-square. There was a significant difference between the conceptual understanding of students who were exposed to the previous and the current program after they were taught about the common human rights, democracy and citizenship concepts. This difference was in favor of the current program

    Investigating the Competence of Classroom Teachers in Terms of Nominating the Students with High Creativity and Gender-Biased Decisions

    The main purpose of this study was to analyse the classroom teachers competence in identifying abovendash%253Baverage creative students, and their genderndash%253Bbias during the identification process. A descriptive survey model was employed as a research method. A total of 317 elementary school students took part in this study. As data collecting tools, a teacher observation form, the creativity scale, and the Torrance Thinking Creativity Test were used. The results of the study enabled the determination of a teacher rating scale that helped the teachers categorize their students more clearly and differentiate them in such a way as to enable genderndash%253Bbias to be reduced when compared to the teachers opinion method.

    Children’s Drawings and Descriptions of their Ideal Schools%253A A Case Study from Turkey

    The aim of this study is to examine 4-7 year old childrens drawings of the school of their dreams and to compare them with todays schools. In a total of 45 children who attend private institutions in Ankara participated in the research. The method of the research is qualitative and data collection tools consisting of picture drawing and interview forms directed at children after drawing are also prepared with a qualitative approach. Childrens drawings were examined according to their developmental stages and childrens dream schools were compared with todays schools by performing descriptive statistics on drawings and responses to interviews. According to the findings, drawings of younger age range were more unusual than drawings of older age range and physical structures, materials%253B and education programs of existing schools exhibit a remote image of the dream schools of a large portion of the children who were involved in the survey

    The Effects of Using Animations on Sixth Grade Students’ Academic Success in Turkish Grammar Learning

    The purpose of this empirical study is to determine how and to what extent the use of animations impacts auditory acquisition, one of the key learning fields in 6th grade grammar, as measured by students academic success and completion rates. By using a pre-test and post-test design, this emrical study randomly divided a group of Turkish 6th graders into an experimental and a control group, who were taught the same standard lessons (as set forth in the Turkish annual lesson plan) by the same teacher for a period of 10 weeks. In addition to the standard lessons, the experimental group was also shown animations. The results revealed that phonetics performance improved for both the experimental and the control group, but that the group who had been shown the animations improved much more than the group who had been instructed via traditional methods only

    The Correlation Between School Managers’ Communication Skills and School Culture

    The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation between school administrators communication skills and school culture. This research was conducted as a survey using a descriptive method in order to ascertain the views of school managers and teachers about the correlation between school managers communication skills and school culture in Turkey. The data were collected from teachers and managers working in Kindergartens, Primary Schools (1-8th grades), and High Schools in the province of Antalya, Turkey via the Interpersonal Communication Skills Questionnaire and Organizational Culture Questionnaire designed with five-point Likert scales, ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree. A total of 1037 questionnaires were included in the analysis. Pearson correlations coefficient and Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to examine the extent to which communication skills of school managers predict school culture. Consequently, interpersonal communication skills of school managers and organizational culture were found to be correlated moderately
