Comparison of Face-to-Face and Distance Education%253A An Example of a Vocational High School
The primary objective of the research is to determine the opinions of vocational high school teachers related to the effectiveness of face-to-face and distance education. The case study method was used in the research. Typical case sampling was preferred from purposive sampling methods in selecting the study group. Besides, 43 teachers who work in different branch types and have various seniority levels in a vocational high school constituted the research study group. The semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. The data were analyzed descriptively through NVIVO 12 Plus program. As a result of the research, teachers working in a vocational high school stated that positive aspects of face-to-face education include communication, classroom control, efficiency, learning by doing and living, the transmission of emotion, motivation, attracting, socialization, classroom climate, application of methods-techniques, equal opportunity for each student, the use of the whiteboard, participation, and empathy. The positive aspects of distance education were specified as providing discipline, material diversity, accessibility, voluntary participation in class, the applicability of the curriculum, self-expression (or the ability express on self), technological opportunities, saving time, and a healthy environment. There are, however, both positive and negative student attitudes toward distance education. While most teachers prefer face-to-face education in the future, hybrid education was also included among the preferences
The Main Stressors of Tertiary Level EFL Instructors Teaching Remotely Amidst Covid-19
With the global COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, our lives, especially education, have been adversely affected. This research investigates the relationship between technostress and burnout levels of English language instructors amidst the pandemic and makes recommendations about the role of online language education in the coming years. In this study, Turkish adaptation of Maslachs MBI-ES and Defining Teachers Technostress Level Scale was administered to 188 English instructors working at State and Foundation Universities in Turkey. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with 10 English language instructors. The findings indicate that instructors have medium level of technostress and low level of burnout. Age and gender were found to be an important contributing factor for both technostress and burnout levels. Correlation analyses showed a relationship between subscales of burnout and technostress measures. The research findings suggest adapting the curriculum of English language teaching programs to increase the technology literacy of prospective English language teachers and prepare them for the increasing role of online language teaching in the coming years as well as providing professional development opportunities for in-service language teachers

The author%252339%253Bs conception of comedy is based on the conceptual framework of the incongruity theory, which defines discordant and conflicting mental states
The Analysis of Relationship Between Competition Styles and Play Skills of Preschool Children
Play is a tool that attunes children to the world and enables children to experience freedom. This tool is significant for children to get oriented with physical and social environment and learn. Children sharpen their emotions, enhance abilities, and develop skills as they play games (Ünal, 2009). There are various definitions of competition (Sheridan and Williams, 2006%253B Tsiakara and Digelidis, 2012) which is frequently observed in the behaviors of kindergarten children. Competition can be defined as an urge to win, willing to be better than the others can, enjoying competing with others, focusing on an objective and eliminating other individuals to reach that objective or not willing to share the determined objective with others (Yenidünya, 2005). Although competition often exist in preschool childrens behavior it is observed that there is not adequate amount of study in the literature. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between competition skills and playing skills of children that has active completion in their life. For data acquisition in the research The Preschool Competition Questionnaire ndash%253B PCQ (Uyanık Balat, Akman and Arslan Çiftçi, 2017) and Revised Knox Preschool Play Scale (Değirmenci, 2016) is used. Research data is acquired from 202 children having preschool education in Istanbul in the 2016-2017 education term. Pearson Moment Product Correlation Coefficient and independent groups t-test are used for data analysis. Consequential to the research it is found that there is negative significant correlation (r%253D-.358, plt%253B.01) between total score of Revised Knox Preschool Play Scale and Preschool Competition Questionnaire%252339%253Bs sub-dimension called Others-oriented Competition, while a positive significant correlation for Task Oriented Competition (r%253D.357, plt%253B.01)is found. In the lights of these findings, it can be asserted that others-oriented competition levels decrease as the playing skills level increase and task%252Fwinning-oriented competition level increases
Preservice Science Teachers Opinions and Argument Quality regarding COVID-19 Vaccines
This study aims to identify preservice science teachers opinions and argument quality regarding the COVID-19 vaccines. The research was conducted with 18 4th year preservice science teachers studying at the Department of Science Education. The study was conducted with phenomenological design and the data were obtained using focus group interview and dilemma cards. The data obtained from the focus group interview were analyzed with content analysis. The argument components in the dilemma cards were analyzed using the Argumentation Model Rating Scale developed by Hiğde and Aktamış (2017). The findings obtained from the focus group interview showed that the majority of preservice science teachers were undecided about vaccination. The minority of the participants who expressed positive views on COVID-19 vaccines mentioned the health, social and scientific aspects of the vaccine (protection, reducing the rate of disease, facilitating the fight against epidemic, contributing to the advancement of science, etc.). On the other hand, it was underlined by the presevice science teachers that the COVID-19 vaccines still contained uncertainties (side effects, lack of protection on its own, lack of confidence, etc.) and created feelings of unease due to the new technological products. The results obtained from the dilemma cards demonstrated that the preservice science teachers were able to present their opinions (claims) and evidence successfully and were partially successful in supporting them. However, it was concluded that the preservice science teachers could not achieve the same level of success in the rebuttal part while presenting their arguments
Comparison of Often Used Analysis Methods for Rank-Ordered Data
This study aims to compare the findings obtained from Rank-Ordered Judgments Scaling (ROJS), Placket-Luce Model (PLM), and Many Facet Rasch Model (MFRM) methods based on ranking judgments, which are often used in the analysis of rank-ordered data. For this purpose, one hundred senior students studying at the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Theology of Sakarya University were asked to rank pedagogical formation courses from the course they thought would be the most useful in their professional lives to the course they thought would be the least useful. The obtained data were analyzed using ROJS, PLM, and MFRM methods. When the obtained data were analyzed according to the ROJS, PLM, and MFRM, it was found that the course considered the least useful and the least preferred was the Instructional Technologies course. According to the raters, it was found that the most preferred and the most useful courses were Teaching Practice (I and II) in MFRM and ROJS, while in PLM, it was found to be the Classroom Management course. All other courses except the first-ranked course were sorted similarly in all models%253B the scale values in ROJS, logit values in MFRM, and worth in PLM were similar
How does Students with and without Disabilities Perceive Studentndash%253BTeacher Relationship in Inclusive Elementary Classrooms%253F
This investigation aims to examine the differences in perceived Studentndash%253BTeacher Relationship (STR) among students with mild intellectual disabilities (SMID), low academic achievement (SLAA) and high academic (SHAA) achievement in Turkish inclusive elementary classrooms. Student participants were interviewed to complete a scale. Teacher participants completed teacher demographic information, student and classroom information forms. The findings indicate that except students gender, teachers and students demographic characteristics do not affect the students perceptions of the STR. Girls appear to be more satisfied in STRs than boys. SMID and SLAA are less satisfied in STRs than high achieving group. The satisfaction levels of the child participants in the emotional, informational and closeness dimensions of the STR were significantly different for SMID. The results demonstrate that the participants ratings of closeness significantly differ from the emotional and informational support dimensions
Teachers Experiences of the Potential of Flipped Classrooms%253A A Research Study of Dance Movements Including Students with Different Educational Needs
The pedagogical approach in the flipped classroom (FC) reverses traditional in-class lectures by delivering content instructions outside the classroom followed by practice as homework. Although several studies develop the FC model in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and Higher Education or High School, few educational studies for inclusive education at primary school levels are conducted. From a teachers perspective, this small-scale research project explored the potential of the FC approach in one Swedish primary school (n%253D25), including ten students with different educational needs. This study aims to investigate how FC contributes to students ability to discern and perform choreographed dance movements to music in Physical Education and Health (PEH) according to the teachers views. The data collection contained teachers PowerPoint presentations of two dance lessons for colleagues, pre-and post-meeting, and three delayed post-interviews with four teachers. Descriptive and content analysis methods were used to analyse the data. The results provide evidence for a potential advantage that the FC supports a general structure of inclusive education. However, there is a risk that students with different educational needs spend moretime out of school hours to reach the same level as other students, which requires further investigation
A Phenomenological Study of the Experiences and Meaning of Participating in a Syndicate for Completing an Action Learning Project on a Short Study Programme at a Business School
The paper is based on a study of the experiences of a syndicate consisting of five members forced by the course management in a nine month Future Leaders in Digital Business study programme at the Wits Business School in Johannesburg, South Africa. Syndicates were formed to complete the research component when the other modules were done at individual level. The Action Learning Project component, required syndicates to undertake a study that would be implemented to improve some real work problem. Qualitative study design was followed to uncover the meanings from the experiences narrated, using phenomenology to reveal the meanings and implications of these experiences. Purposive sampling required the participation of the five students from the syndicate. The findings revealed synergistic gains that came through the activities, and showed the possibility of teams functioning at optimal levels that can lead to no one underperforming while everybody over-performs and benefits plentifully
