Teachers educational beliefs influence their decisions and actions before, during, and after class. Classroom actions are a result of decision-making processes wherein teachers judge how they can teach effectively. The early years of teaching profession is important in shaping new teachers practices in accordance with their beliefs. This study identifies how the beliefs and classroom practices of a new science teacher change within the first three years of working. This studys participant was a new high-school science teacher in Midwestern United States. Changes were investigated by employing qualitative research methods. Data for this longitudinal case study were gathered from interviews, questionnaires, and classroom observations for three years. The findings show that teachers cannot practice their reformist beliefs without experiencing real class environments

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between teacher candidates%252339%253B critical thinking standards and reflective thinking skills. The study investigated the level of critical thinking standard and reflective thinking skills of teacher candidates, as well. Also, another sub-problem of the study was whether reflective thinking skills significantly differentiated according to critical thinking standards divided into three sub-levels. When the findings were examined, it can be stated that students had a high level of critical thinking standards, depth, width, and competence, precision and accuracy, and importance, relevance, and clarity sub-dimensions, and reflective thinking skills. Also, there was a significant and positive correlation between teacher candidates reflective thinking skills with critical thinking standards, depth, width, and competence, precision and accuracy, and importance, relevance, and clarity sub-dimensions. When the data were examined, it can be said that teacher candidates reflective thinking skills differed significantly according to critical thinking standard level. Besides, it can be stated that the mean ranks determined in all scale were high in favor of teacher candidates with high critical thinking standard level. However, compound effect of the level of critical thinking standards with gender and grade was not significant on reflective thinking skills%253B compound effect of critical thinking standards with department on reflective thinking skills was significant
Determination of the STEM Career Interests of Middle School Students
The aim of this research is to determine the middle school students%252339%253B interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field. Descriptive survey model, which is one of the quantitative researches, was used. A scale named lsquo%253BThe Development of the STEM Career Interest Survey (STEM-CIS) was applied to the middle school students who were studying in public schools in two different central districts of Ankara. 271 (51.7%25) female and 253 (48.3%25) male student attended to the research. The reliability coefficient of this questionnaire was calculated as 0.902. The findings show that self-efficacy, personal goals, expectation of results, interest in science, contextual support and individual inputs are effective in STEM career interests of middle school students. STEM career interest has been found to be disproportionate to gender, but it is proportional to class level. In order for students to develop their career plans, the content which is specific to the STEM fields can be combined with the course content itself
How do Students%252339%253B Attitudes Towards Programming and Self-Efficacy in Programming Change in the Robotic Programming Process%253F
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of robotic design with Arduino on students%252339%253B attitudes towards programming and on their perceptions of self-efficacy in programming. The study group consisted of 25 sophomore students attending the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies in a state university located in the south of Turkey. The study lasted 12 weeks and the participants performed robotic design activities with Arduino throughout the process. Firstly, participants prepared a prototype and then programmed it for 8 weeks, and they created their own designs in the remaining 4 weeks. The Computer Programming Attitude Scale and Computer Programming Self-Efficacy Scale were utilized as the data collection tools in this pretest-posttest experimental study. The findings revealed that robotic design activities with Arduino significantly improved the participants attitudes towards programming and programming self-efficacy. In addition, according to the participants views, the factors that cause this improvement can be listed as activities being enjoyable, facilitating and concretizing the process, being interesting and practical. Moreover, these robotic design activities were found to contribute to students understanding of finding bugs and the logic of programming
Occupational Burnout Level of Preschool Teachers Working in the East and West of Turkey
The aim of this research is to examine the occupational burnout levels of preschool teachers work in terms of working in the eastern and western parts of Turkey, voluntariness, gender, working location and age. In accordance with the general aim of the study, Maslach Burnout Inventory and Personal Information Form (prepared by the researcher) were filled by 72 preschool teachers working in the eastern provinces of Turkey and 82 preschool teachers working in the western ones%253A a total of 154 preschool teachers, 133 females and 21 males. ANOVA and t-test were used in the evaluation of the data. It was determined that the part of Turkey where teachers work, east or west, did not cause any difference in their occupational burnout. However, preschool teachers who inadvertently chose their profession experienced greater emotional exhaustion and decreased sense of personal achievement compared with preschool teachers who chose their profession voluntarily. Also, preschool teachers who worked in the west at the age of 31-40 years and at over 40 years experienced higher emotional exhaustion levels than those who worked in the east at the age of 31-40 years and at over 40 years. Further studies should be conducted with more teachers from all the cities in the seven regions of the country
Teachers Questions and Childrens Answers Administered during the Question of the Day Practice in a Kindergarten of Turkey
In this study, the questions asked by 5 preschool teachers during the question of the day practice at the beginning of the day and the characteristics of the answers given by 240 children of 4-5-year-old were investigated. Language interactions between teachers and children through 198 questions asked during the question of the day practice at the start of the day activity and 2048 answers were transcribed and then teachers questions were analyzed using the coding scheme comprised of four defined abstraction levels, and the answers of the children were analyzed according to three defined abstraction levels. The results revealed that teachers%252339%253B questions were predominantly preference (31.3%25) questions and likewise, the majority of children%252339%253Bs answers were personal preference (46.3%25) answers. Also, it was concluded that%253B (a) asking creation questions that allow children to express their original thoughts was least preferred by the teachers%253B (b) children often preferred to answer recall, inference and creation questions at the realistic level, and preference questions at the personal preference level%253B (c) children mostly gave creative answers to the creation questions of the teachers%253B and (d) 5-year-old children prefer to give more creative answers to teachers%252339%253B questions than 4-year-olds

Determining the Qualifications of the Secondary School Students in the Field of Quadrilaterals%253A A Scale Development Study
Testing-assessment is needed to determine whether the education process is successful or at what level. For this reason, it is of great importance to determine the achievement level of the students at the secondary level. The purpose of this study is to develop an achievement test consisting of multiple choice questions about lsquo%253Bquadrilateral subject of secondary school students by using alternative assessment techniques. The study group of this research, which is a descriptive survey type, consists of 372 secondary school students who are in the seventh grade in Aydın and Muğla during the 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, ITEMAN, SPSS and JMETRIK programs were used based on Classical Test Theory and Material Testing Theory. The formed item pool was subjected to the appearance validity by five trainers, who are experts in that field. According to the experts opinions, it was decided that for the achievement test, 28 items were to be included in the test primarily. It was decided as a result of analysis of the data obtained from the students that an item with very low item-specificity index, four items that do not provide model data compliance in Rasch analysis and two items identified to have item bias may be excluded from the test were excluded from the test. After these processes, the final testing tool consisted of 21 items and the average difficulty index of the test was .64%253B the discrimination index was calculated as .40. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the final state was determined as .81. According to these results, it can be said that the achievement test has sufficient validity and reliability
