Emergency Distance Education Experience Of Primary School Teachers Teaching First-Grade Students
This study aims to ensure a better understanding of the stages ten primary school teachers have gone through after finding out that they are expected to offer online courses due to COVID-19 conditions. Contrary to the majority of articles that tend to emphasize the advantages of distance education while minimizing its difficulties, this study intends to arrive at a proper understanding of the phenomenon from the unique perspectives of practitioners. The phenomenological approach was particularly adopted to understand the experience of teachers, and the data obtained from the interviews were analyzed inductively. Study participants include 10 teachers who teach the first-grade students in a private primary school in Eskisehir, Turkey. The study results indicated four categories including first reactions, adaptation period, ongoing process, and suggestions for a better distance education. In line with the aim, the study also presents both negative and positive aspects of emergency distance education
An Examination of the Relationships Between Pre-Service Teachers Epistemological Beliefs and Types of Multiple Intelligence
In the literature, there are studies that separately tackled with how the epistemological beliefs and multiple domains of intelligence of the individuals have developed through their experiences. However, no study has investigated the relationship between them. Consequently, this study aims to investigate the pre-service science, elementary mathematics and classroom teachers%252339%253B epistemological beliefs, their Multiple Intelligence (MI) domains, and the relationship between these. The sample of this descriptive survey study consists of 457 pre-service teachers (PSTs) in total. The data is collected through the lsquo%253BMultiple Intelligence Inventory and lsquo%253BEpistemological Beliefs Questionnaire. One-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. Findings revealed statistically significant differences in the MI domains and epistemological belief dimensions (EBDs) in terms of the branches of PSTs. Also, there is a significant relationship between some MI domains and some EBDs in terms of PSTs branches. In addition to these, the findings imply that the cultures, structures, implicit and explicit rules, adaptation strategies and the content that are imposed by each branch influences this relationship between MI and EBDs
The Views of Pre-Service Science Teachers on Recycling
This study aims to determine the views of pre-service science teachers on recycling. The current study was carried out with semi-structured interview questions applied to 130 pre-service teachers studying in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at a state university in the spring term of the 2018-2019 academic year. Due to the time and application limitations, the purposeful sample was chosen. Since this group will teach secondary school students in the future and recycling will be an important issue in the future as well as today, it is necessary to work specifically with this group so that teachers can teach this subject to their students. By taking their opinions, the deficiencies or negativities in the university education will be determined, thus an opportunity will be obtained to take steps towards overcoming these deficiencies. In the study, the case study method, a qualitative research design, was preferred and Recycling Interview Questions that was developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool, and a content analysis was made. In the case study, a holistic single-case design was used. There are seven codes regarding the theme of Separating the Wastes in the 1st question about recycling for the pre-service science teachers. The highest frequency was given for Reducing Environmental Pollution. There are six codes for the theme of the contribution of recycling to the country in the 2nd question. The highest frequency was given for It makes a contribution to the country. In the 3rd question, there are six codes regarding the themes of recycling at universities. Adequate education is not given had the highest frequency. There are six codes for the theme of recycling at secondary schools in the 4th question. The highest frequency was given for Only theoretical information is given. There are seven codes for the theme of the zero waste project in the 5th question. It is an efficient work had the highest frequency. The pre-service teachers studying in the Department of Science Education are given practical education regarding recycling, separation of wastes and Zero Waste Project
Mobbing and Stress
Mobbing is an important construct which has impact on the numerous psychological variables. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between mobbing and stress. Participants were 436 teachers (206 (55%25) were female, 230 (45%25) were male) from Sakarya, Turkey. Their ages ranged from 26 to 55 years and the mean age of the participants was 35.2 years. In this study, the Mobbing Scale and the Stress subscale of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale were used. The relationships between mobbing and stress were examined using correlation analysis and the hypothesis model was tested through structural equation modeling. Data were analyzed by LISREL 8.54 and SPSS 11.5. In correlation analysis, humiliation, discrimination, sexual harassment, communication barriers sub- dimensions of mobbing were found positively associated with stress. Hypothesized model was examined via structural equation modeling (SEM). And also accounted for 11%25 of the stress variance. According to path analysis results, stress was predicted positively by humiliation, discrimination, sexual harassment, and communication barriers. This research shows that mobbing has a direct impact on the stress
Correct Classification Level of Young Adults Who Abuse and Do Not Abuse Their Partner in The Romantic Relationship of Forgiveness
In this study, the correct classification level of whether forgiving oneself, others and the situation is abusing their partners was determined by logistic regression analysis. There are 221 young adults ranging from 19-30 in this study, which was designed in the scanning model. Heartland Forgiveness Scale and Information Form were used in the study. In the initial model of the analysis, all participants were classified in the group that exploited their partner, with a classification percentage of 62.9%25. The biggest contribution to the initial model comes from the variable of forgiving others, respectively, the variables of self-forgiveness and forgiveness. Cox amp%253B Snell RSquare value for the final model was calculated as .10. This finding shows that when the predictor variables are included in the model, 10%25 of the predicted variable is explained. Accordingly, the model has a good fit. Of the 82 individuals who did not abuse the result model, 34 were classified correctly and 48 were incorrect, with a percentage of correct classification of 41.5%25. Of 139 individuals abused, 120 were correct and 19 were incorrectly classified, with an accurate classification percentage of 86.3%25. One-unit increase in the self-forgiveness variable is 7.90%25 in the odds of abuse [(1-.921).100]%253B One-unit increase in forgiveness to others causes an 8.10%25 [(1-.919).100] increase in exploit odds. Findings show that the variables of self-forgiveness and forgiveness for others make significant contributions to classifying individuals who abuse and do not. The variables of forgiving yourself and others increase the predictive power of the model created
