This study aimed to determine the attitude levels of Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School teachers towards distance education and these levels in terms of various variables (gender, education status, or profession). This study, it was aimed to determine whether there was a difference between the status of being a culture teacher and professional seniority. The research is carried out with the explanatory sequential design approach, one of the mixed-method research designs that consist of teachers working in Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools in Sakarya in the 2020-2021 academic year. Quantitative data of the study were collected from 244 teachers. They were determined by a purposive sampling method, and qualitative data were collected from 43 teachers and is determined by the convenient sampling method. A sufficient number of samples were selected from the existing sample due to the rapid and easy accessibility of the teachers from whom quantitative data were collected. Quantitative data were obtained with the quot%253BPersonal Information Formquot%253B created by the researchers to determine the demographic characteristics of the teachers, and the Distance Education Attitude Scale, developed by Ağır (2007) to determine distance education attitudes. In acquiring qualitative data, a semi-structured interview form consisting of open-ended questions prepared by the researchers was used. In the first part of the interview form, there are questions about the demographic information of the teachers participating in the research. In the second part, there are seven questions prepared by the researchers to determine the opinions of the teachers about distance education based on the results obtained from the quantitative data and the literature review on distance education. The researchers collected the data through Google Forms, created from the questions in the scale and interview forms. In the analysis of the quantitative data obtained, descriptive statistics, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, t-test, and one-way ANOVA test were used. Qualitative data were analyzed with descriptive analysis methods within the framework of the themes determined by evaluating the advantages and limitations of distance education sub-dimensions. It has been tried to reach the possible reasons underlying the quantitative results with the qualitative data obtained. As a result of the research, it has been determined that teachers disagree with the view that distance education has advantages. They believe that distance education has limitations, and their attitude levels towards distance education are below the medium level. In the study, the reasons for the teachers%252339%253B attitude levels towards distance education below the medium level were evaluated by evaluating the advantages and limitations of distance education and the sub-dimensions of quot%253Bstudent academic success,quot%253B quot%253Befficiency of education,quot%253B quot%253Bpositive and negative aspects compared to face-to-face education,quot%253B quot%253Bdifficulties encountered,quot%253B and quot%253Bopportunity .quot%253BIn this study, it has been tried to be revealed with the opinions of teachers within the framework of the themes of quot%253Bwhether it provides equality,quot%253B quot%253Bteacher and student motivation,quot%253B and quot%253Brecommendations for effective distance education.quot%253

    No full text
Being the most used skill in the school environment as well as being the first skill to be acquired, listening can be defined as making sense of the sounds heard in the communication process and responding as a result of this interpretation. The fact that the response given at the end of a listening process is appropriate for the context is associated with completing the listening process without encountering any obstacles. However, the conducted studies emphasize that students encounter many listening barriers during the listening process. It is considered that it is important for the development of listening skills to detect the barriers to effective listening, which is a major source of school learning, at every education level from pre-school to university. In this context, the aim of the study is to develop a scale to determine the listening barriers encountered by university students in the course process. The data of the research were obtained from 587 students studying in different departments of Kırıkkale University in Turkey. In the development of the measurement tool, literature review, item pooling, content validity (consulting to expert opinion), and pilot scheme stages were followed, and then necessary reliability calculations were carried out. In line with the scores obtained from the tool, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out in order to test the construct validity of the draft scale. As a result of the factor analysis, it was determined that the scale revealed a three-factor structure classified as teacher related listening barriers, student related listening barriers, and classroom environment and course related listening barriers, and the Cronbachs Alpha internal consistency coefficient was detected as .93 for the overall scale. As a result of the research, a 30-item scale was developed to determine the listening barriers encountered by university students

The purpose of this research was to examine the relationships between prospective teachers psychological resilience, teacher self-efficacy beliefs, and their attitudes towards the teaching profession. In this respect, a hypothetical model showing the causal relationships between the variables was developed and tested with path analysis within the structural equation modelling. Data were collected online from 247 prospective teachers who studied at pedagogical formation programs at a university in Turkey using Teachers Sense of Efficacy Scale, Brief Resilient Coping Scale, and Attitude Towards Teaching Profession Scale. The results revealed that there were positive and significant relationships between all of the research variables. The fit indices for the path analysis model showed that the model had a good fit with the data. Accordingly, the psychological resilience of prospective teachers directly affects their attitudes towards the teaching profession and self-efficacy beliefs. In addition, the psychological resilience of prospective teachers also indirectly and positively affects their attitudes towards the teaching profession through their self-efficacy beliefs. Based on the results, some recommendations were made

STEM education (based on the integration of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines) has recently been an integral part of education system and curriculum in many countries aiming to be more technologically competitive in this age of innovation. While the importance of STEM education has gradually increasing in education system with the complexities of todays world, revealing pre-service teachers mind maps on STEM education and preparing them for STEM education is a crucial issue since the readiness of the teachers affects the quality of education. In this context, the aim of this study is to reveal pre-service science and mathematics teachers mind maps on STEM Education through STEM images. The research group consists of 6 pre-service teachers (3 of them are pre-service science teachers (PST) and 3 of them are pre-service mathematics teachers (PMT)) who are 4th grade level students from a public university in Istanbul, Turkey. In current research, case study design was used. The data of study were collected through drawings and focus group discussion. The data were analyzed with thematic analysis through Integrated Teaching (IT) Framework. As a result, 41 codes about pre-service teachers mind maps on STEM education were determined under 14 categories of 5 themes of IT Framework. The results of this study are crucial in terms of having potential to guide educational policy makers, curriculum developers, researchers and in-service and pre-service teachers about STEM education
