05-02 Under the Fig Tree: Following God\u27s Call with Dr. Ryan Tinetti

    No full text
In this episode, hosts Rev. Tom Schlund and Katie Gaschler are joined by one of Concordia Seminary\u27s newest professors, Dr. Ryan Tinetti. While studying journalism during his undergraduate years at Michigan State University, Tinetti felt a call toward ministry. After graduation, he followed God\u27s call with a few different stops along the way. He says, Ministry is a trailhead, not a terminus. When you get into ministry, it could go into so many different directions... Don\u27t think, \u27I\u27ve just got to fit into this box and this is what it\u27s going to look like.\u27 It can take so many different shapes and God is going to use who you are in order to shape the ministry that you\u27re in. A Mighty Long Journey: The Pursuit of Gospel Unity in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) over the last 50 years

    No full text
In Jesus\u27 last night with his disciples before he went to the cross, he prayed for them and for all who would believe in him through their message, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me (John 17:21). During the 50-year existence of our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), we have in various ways acted contrary to this prayer of Jesus, particularly regarding issues of race and unity in the church. At the same time, our denomination has worked and continues to work to correct its past transgressions and chart a new way forward in unity in the Gospel ministry. This presentation will explore both the failures and triumphs we\u27ve experienced and seek to learn from as we continue forward for the glory of God, in the name of Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit
