Built in 1990, this boathouse replaced the dilapidated and overcrowded Lake Virginia Boathouse, which was built in 1961 after the original Lake Virginia Boathouse, built in 1904, was destroyed by Hurricane Donna during the summer of 1960. The new boathouse is named after Harold Alfond, a Rollins benefactor who was also a Rollins parent
Alfond Pool Steps in 1970s

Building for the pool was made possible by the generous donation of Harold Alfond. This photograph, taken in the 1970s, shows the original steps at the Alfond Swimming Pool, which were torn down in 1997 during the pool's renovations and also due to the nearby construction of the Cornell Campus Center

Bornstein and Lawrences in 1994
No full textPresident Bornstein stands with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence at the banquet dinner for the Samuel B. Lawrence Center in 1994. The building was built in 1965 and rented out to the public until Samuel B. Lawrence, a Rollins parent and benefactor, provided Rollins with the funds to purchase this much needed space in 1993. It currently serves as the home for the Pre-Collegiate progras, the Center for Lifelong Education, and the Upward Bound Program, along with tenant rental space
