For an app to be deployed, there are many guidelines the developers need to follow. There is so much more to consider if you want to make your app successful and tailored to the intended audience. Tracking Insecticidal Activity of Peptide-based Insecticide Across Insect Assays

maintain and expand the agricultural industry. As such, the need for effective
and safe insecticides is increasingly important as cases of insecticide
resistance to chemical insecticides continue to rise.1 Vestaron is an emerging
leader in the biopesticide industry, focusing on developing safe and effective
products.2 Their first product on the market, Spear, is a novel peptide-based
insecticide. Most recently Vestaron is developing a new product code-named
7304 as a Lepidoptera targeting insecticide. In this study I analyze the
wildtype strain of peptide along with three mutants (Table I) across insect
(Figure 1) injection and feeding assays to elucidate how key mutations to the

Towards the Synthesis of 5-Bromo-Tryptamine − 2-Cyclopropyl-Quinazolinone Hybrids as Potential Broad Spectrum Efflux Pump Inhibitors
ix, 29 p.Efflux pumps (EPs) are trans-membrane proteins that contribute to the rise in drug resistant (DR) bacteria. EPs nullify antibiotics by ejecting them out of the cell before they can perform their mechanism of action. Therefore, efflux pump inhibitors (EPIs), which can restore the function of obsolete drugs, are of high interest. EPs differ in structure across gram-negative bacteria (GNB) and gram-positive bacteria (GPB), so, drugs typically target very few EPs. The goal of the current study focuses on synthesizing a molecular hybrid to develop a broad-spectrum EPI capable of targeting a wide variety of EPs. Indole analogs have been used in the past to target NorA, an EP belonging to the ubiquitous S. aureus. Additionally, bromination along the indole skeleton can increase its penetration ability. For its utility against a common gram-positive strain, it was selected for this study. Quinazolinones are bioactive compounds that have also been used against EPs (MexAB-Opr and AcrAB) found in E. aerogenes and P. aeruginosa. A synthesis route was successfully established for 5-bromo-tryptamine through reducing 5-bromo-3-(2-nitrovinyl)-indole in a two-step process using NaBH4 (23%) and LiAlH4 (126%). The quinazolinone compounds were synthesized (8-277%) through three different pathways and then hybridized with tryptamine (16-86%)
To Care, or Not to Care: How the Costa Rican National Daycare Network Provides the Right to Care
33 p.This project examines right to care in Costa Rica through the lens of the National Childcare and Development Network. Right to care describes the right to be cared for, to care and not to care (Estrada, 27). Within an individual's right to care is the ability to define and determine appropriate care. This paper argues that although Costa Rica’s National Daycare Network provides additional care services to targeted individuals, the right to care of all Costa Ricans cannot be fully realized without the universalization of the system. The topics of governmental actors, policies, social perceptions, culture, demographics and the gender division of childcare labor are utilized when evaluating how the current system provides the right to care. Throughout the paper, narrative writing produced while volunteering at Manos Amigas Centro Infantil, a daycare center that is funded by the national daycare network, situates an individual daycare experience within the broader system

Testing the effectiveness of floor cover and insecticide treatment program for spotted-wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii, in highbush blueberries
v, 25 p.Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura, 1931) (Diptera: Drosophilidae), commonly referred to as spotted-wing drosophila, is an invasive fruit fly that arrived in the continental United States in 2008 (Turcotte et al. 2018). D. suzukii differs from typical fruit flies in that the females have serrated ovipositors, which enable female D. suzukii to saw through the flesh of unripe fruit to lay eggs underneath the skin of thin-skinned fruit such as raspberries, blueberries, cherries, and strawberries. The eggs hatch inside and mature while destroying the fruit. Due to this, growers will experience serious financial loss if the flies are not combated. The first objective of this study was to test the efficacy of current pesticide application methods as compared to methods that are “reduced-risk” to other insects and the environment. The second objective was to test how temperature and relative humidity affect egg-laying behavior and larval survival. Through the collection of blueberries infested by wild D. suzukii, and the artificial infestation of store-bought blueberries, the study found that “reduced-risk” insecticide application methods, that included pesticides more targeted to D. suzukii, and applied later in the season, are effective at controlling infestation until harvest. The study also found that, while differences in ground cover do not change the larval survival rates, the utilization of Mylar ground cover is more effective at deterring spotted-wing drosophila from laying eggs in blueberry cultivars than the utilization of woodchip ground cover due to Mylar’s ability to reflect both heat and light. Further studies are required to provide better insight into D. suzukii’s egg laying behavior and larval survival

Parallel Algorithm Design for Compression of DNA Data Files
v, 18 p.In genetic research, processing and analyzing DNA sequences is very important. DNA sequences can get very long, and researchers often must analyze very large amounts of them. This makes it very important to have a fast and efficient algorithm for compressing and decompressing these files to allow processing, sharing, and analyzing of them to be as efficient as possible. These DNA sequences are commonly stored in a file called a FastQ file which, along with a few lines describing the DNA, contains the DNA sequence. The goal of my research was to build a fast and efficient compression algorithm using parallel programming techniques to speed up processing and sharing of these DNA sequences. Over the course of my research, I analyzed three algorithms and chose one that I believed would work the best for FastQ files, then modified the algorithm to allow it to run in parallel
