Bob Flanagan and Robert Andy Coombs : The Reclamation of Disabled Sexuality through Art
v, 35 p.Disabled people have a long history of marginalization. Their bodies have been criticized, belittled, and even dehumanized for deviating from the normal, productive body. Dehumanization is often reflected in lack of access to sexual education and experiences. This paper argues that Bob Flanagan and Robert Andy Coombs’ artwork expresses their deviance from social norms through their disability and through sexual practices. These artists reclaim their bodies and their sexuality by depicting their disabled bodies practicing sadomasochism (SM). By sexualizing themselves, these artists bring light to disabled people’s sexualities and work to fight against the desexualization they face as disabled people
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity and Autism Spectrum Disorder: Focusing on ADHD with ASD Symptoms
1 broadside. 48"W x 36"HNeurodevelopmental disorders are a classification of disorders that affect the development of the nervous system, inducing abnormal brain function. ASD and ADHD are the two most common neurodevelopmental disorders observed in childhood; ADHD prevalence: 4%, ASD prevalence: 3%. Comorbidity is defined as the co-occurrence of conditions, as well as the interaction of the conditions. Prevalence of ADHD with ASD traits: 15-25%, prevalence of ASD with ADHD traits: 40-80%. Based on these estimated prevalence's of comorbidities, it is believed that ADHD occurs without ASD symptoms, but ASD does not occur without ADHD symptoms. This claim is inaccurate because it does not account for the history of the disorders, the present overlap of symptomology, or social camouflaging.Kalamazoo College. Department of Psychology. The problem of misinformation and disinformation, and how computer science can combat it
v, 29 p.Misinformation and disinformation are two distinct terms with definitions that share a similar concept: spreading false information. While the problem of misinformation and disinformation is not new, the use of computers and the Internet has made it easier to spread false information and more challenging to combat it. In this study, I will review the problem of misinformation and disinformation in the digital era and discuss why people tend to believe in false information. I will also propose how computer scientists can help to reduce the spread of misinformation and disinformation through technology and education. Finally, I will present a prototype of one of the solutions, an AI-powered search engine. The goal of this SIP is to highlight that computer scientists can play a significant role in combating misinformation and disinformation
COVID-19 Policies and the Effects of the Pandemic on South Korea and the United States : An Autoethnography based on Study Abroad Experiences
46 p.When I was studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I made several interesting observations about the differences and similarities between its COVID policies and the United States’ and the effects that the virus had on each country. This autoethnography is a record of my experiences in both South Korea and the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a collection of research I conducted about how each of these countries handled the virus and how they were affected by it based upon my personal observations and experiences. When I got back from my study abroad trip, I decided to compile my interests and majors together to form my final senior project at Kalamazoo college. I wanted to analyze and learn more about what happened in the background of my experiences and observations in each country. I organized these differences and similarities I noticed into different sections through this autoethnography and dived into the reasoning why and what each country was going through and attempting to do to mitigate the effects of the pandemic
A Case for Shapeshifting
278 p.Through a series of essays, interviews, poems, illustrations, and a single speech, A Case for Shapeshifting thinks through and recognizes the ability to be shaped by change and to shape change. Organized into four parts (The Framework, Responding to Decolonial Theory, Shapeshifting in New Orleans, and Gi’s Traveling Show), this collection traverses various geographies, communities, and genres to propose and explore Shapeshifting as an effective, accessible framework for transforming culture

A brief overview of Human Resources and Business Navigations
ii, 11 p.In this guide it shows the broad understanding of important aspects of the business world can be obtained by starting with Employee Relations, Human Resources (HR), Microsoft Excel, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) test, and other business-related topics. HR, which is the foundation of an effective firm, includes workplace culture and talent management. The study of employee relations explores the complexities of handling conflicts and having productive conversations at work. HR professionals use the SHRM test as a standard to certify their knowledge. Microsoft Excel is a flexible tool that improves data analysis and decision-making. We also look into other business interests, such marketing, finance, operations, and entrepreneurship, all of which present different chances in the ever-changing field of business jobs. All these components work together to provide a thorough foundation for what students may use after college or an idea of what can be decided as a career plan
Brexit and How it Will Impact Women
47 p.The United Kingdom leaving the European Union (referred to throughout this paper as Brexit) on January 31st, 2020 will disproportionately impact women more than men. Brexit was a comprehensive upheaval of British policy, legally and economically, both of which have consequences for women specifically. This paper examines the economic causes and effects of Brexit, and how these will have an impact on women. This includes a change in gender based employment protections, like policies discouraging the female wage gap and maternity leaves. This paper also looks at the impact of the change in immigration policy on service industry wages and child care accessibility
