Mechanical Properties and their Influence on Foundation behaviors of Separated Waste Soils with Wood Chips
This paper concerns mechanical properties and their influences on foundation behaviors of the separated disaster waste soils containing wood chips. Compaction tests were carried out on several separated soils in order to discuss allowable amount of chips (Pw) to form adequate skeleton structure in soils. Series of tri-axial compression tests were also made to examine decomposition effects of wood chips on the deformation/strength properties and long-term behavior of the separated soils. The test results revealed that the separated soils having less than 8% of Pw can have appropriate stiff skeleton structure through compaction, which therefore showed little effect of decomposition on the reduction of their deformation/strength properties. Also noted in the paper are applicability of the falling ball inspection test on the quality evaluation and control of the separated waste soils and some mechanical aspects of the relationship between compaction conditions and the amount of chips (Pw)

An open Riemann surface R is planar if and only if for every domain G in R the condition that G satisfies the strong disk property in R implies the condition that G is holomorphically Runge in R
An Analysis of Synonyms Based on Frame Semantics : A Comparison of the Chinese Verbs Fangzhi and Bimian and the Japanese Verbs Fusegu and Sakeru
In this paper, we compared the synonymous phenomena of two Chinese verbs, Fangzhi (prevent) and Bimian (avoid), with the Japanese verbs, Fusegu (prevent) and Sakeru (avoid), with a selected emphasis on the complex sentences with two clauses. In these two clauses, one represents purpose while the other expresses the method for attaining the purpose. In particular, we classified the negative events of the purpose clause into five subtypes based on several factors pertaining to transitivity, including the number of participants in an event, the activity or non-activity of an event, the agentivity of the subject, and volitionality in an event. Our analysis showed that Japanese was analogous to Chinese on four of the aforementioned subtypes, but they didn’t match in the events with inanimate subjects
