On English Translation Strategies for Chinese Dish Names from the Perspective of Eco-translatology-- A Bite of China

    Get PDF
This study takes the English translation of dish names in the documentary A Bite of China as its research subject, using Eco-translatology as the theoretical framework to analyze the characteristics and cultural connotations of various dish names in the film, as well as to explore the translation strategies and methods. These dish names carry the unique cultural connotations of Chinese food culture in aspects such as culinary techniques, regional characteristics, and folk traditions, showcasing the richness and ecological nature of Chinese cuisine. The research demonstrates that, during the translation process, translators can effectively convey the core information of the dishes and the essence of Chinese culinary culture by considering the cultural background and acceptance habits of the target audience, and by using a combination of translation strategies such as literal translation, free translation, transliteration, and annotation, while emphasizing adaptive shifts. Additionally, the use of adaptive strategies helps the translation better align with the linguistic habits of the target language, improving the readability and acceptability of the translation. The translation of dish names is not only a linguistic conversion but also a practice of cross-cultural culinary communication. This paper provides an ecological perspective on the translation of dish names in A Bite of China and offers useful references for the translation of other culinary culture documentaries, contributing to the international dissemination and exchange of Chinese culinary culture

    Get PDF
Objective: To systematically analyze the current status of interventions for alleviating existential distress in hemodialysis patients, explore the core components, outcome measures, and effectiveness of these interventions, and provide a theoretical basis for developing interventions targeting existential distress in this population. Methods: Following the methodology of scoping reviews, eight databases—PubMed, SinoMed, CHINA, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP were systematically searched using computerized methods. The search period spanned from database inception to July 1, 2025. Key information was extracted from the included studies, including publication year, intervention methods, intervention duration, and outcome measures. Results: A total of 15 studies were included. Interventions related to concepts of existential distress in hemodialysis patients primarily included cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotional release therapy, and relaxation training. These interventions demonstrated positive effects on psychological distress, psychological crisis, demoralization, and quality of life among hemodialysis patients. Conclusion: Currently, there are no intervention studies specifically targeting existential distress in hemodialysis patients. Healthcare professionals should, in the future, draw upon interventions related to existential distress concepts—such as those addressing demoralization and psychological crisis to develop tailored intervention programs for alleviating existential distress in hemodialysis patients

    Get PDF
Urban spontaneous plant communities exhibit distinct self-succession patterns and autonomous regeneration capacities, which play a pivotal role in enhancing biodiversity, improving ecological resilience, and minimizing maintenance expenditures within urban green infrastructure systems. This investigation aims to elucidate the diversity variations of spontaneous flora across different urban green space typologies and their underlying determinants, thereby providing critical insights for optimizing ecosystem stability and sustainable management practices. This study systematically examined four characteristic green space types in Luoyang City (Henan Province, China) through standardized quadrat sampling. We conducted comprehensive analyses encompassing: species composition characteristics, species importance values, species frequency, multidimensional diversity indices, and phylogenetic diversity of spontaneous plant among different types of green spaces and their influencing factors. The results showed that the species richness and diversity index of the suburban park were the highest. The phylogenetic diversity analysis indicated that, except for the suburban park, the phylogenetic structure of spontaneous plants in other green spaces was of the aggregated type

The article analyzes the deep logic behind the language of traditional Chinese medicine, through concrete examples of entity metaphor, spatial metaphor, and structural metaphor.Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a profound system with concepts and theories that are replete with cognitive metaphors. In an era of globalization, the dissemination of TCM culture has become a crucial task. While language translation is an essential part, the conveyance of human-centered thinking is equally vital for a comprehensive understanding of TCM.The purpose of this article is to delve into the deep-seated logic within TCM language by examining concrete examples of entity, spatial, and structural metaphors. This is aimed at enhancing the overseas dissemination of TCM culture. The research analyzes real-world examples of entity, spatial, and structural metaphors within the language of TCM. These examples are carefully selected from various TCM classics and contemporary TCM literature.Through the analysis, commonalities in human experience have been identified from the cognitive experience and embodied environment. These commonalities serve as the foundation for a shared understanding. In conclusion, by leveraging metaphorical thinking, clear and accessible cognitive paradigms have been provided for non-TCM-familiar audiences. This research thus paves the way for the more effective overseas dissemination of TCM culture

Research on the Civil Law Protection of Private Information

According to the China Annual Report on Personal Information Security, data breaches nationwide will increase by 23% year-on-year in 2024, and private information such as biometrics, health care, and financial transactions will become the main targets. In this context, Article 1034 of the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China clarifies the legal attributes of private information, stipulates that the relevant provisions on privacy are applied to its protection, and the Personal Information Protection Law applies when there are no special provisions, which makes private information both “private” and “identifiable” as the intersection of privacy and personal information. Theoretically, there is a dispute over the boundary between private information and sensitive personal information, and the protection model also faces differences in the choice of unification and dualization. In this regard, we can learn from the German “field theory” and combine the principle of proportionality in our country’s Civil Code, refine the rules from the whole chain of collection, use and storage, set up special regulatory agencies, and empower public participation through education, technical tools, public interest litigation, etc., so as to improve the private information protection system and effectively safeguard the rights and interests of citizens

    Get PDF
People are constantly migrating in modern times, either permanently or temporarily, to reside in new regions. Sweden has long been a popular destination for immigrants seeking better prospects for its extensive welfare state. However, the government and society at large face a number of challenges in integrating immigrants into Sweden's social protection system. The functions and challenges the Swedish government faces in offering immigrants equitable social protection are examined in this study, with a focus on implementation tactics and societal dynamics. Qualitative research methods were applied using primary data sources through thirteen interviews between migrants and government service providers. By analyzing the data, it can be said that through the execution of constitutional principles, the Swedish government should follow a comprehensive, inclusive approach to Sweden's immigrant communities, revising existing support programs and regular monitoring of social protection measures to ensure long-term economic benefits

The urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River constitutes a critical foundation for the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the rise of central China, as well as a pivotal growth pole for high-quality national development. This study investigates the mechanism through which the coupling of industrial collaborative agglomeration and technological innovation influences economic growth. Drawing on panel data from 28 prefecture-level cities within the urban agglomeration of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (2010–2019), a coupling coordination degree model is constructed to evaluate the level of coupling coordination. The economic effects of the coupling between industrial collaborative agglomeration and technological innovation are further analyzed using the generalized method of moments (GMM), and the findings are validated through a threshold model. The results reveal the following: (1) Between 2010 and 2019, the coupling coordination degree exhibited a fluctuating upward trend, generally characterized by low coupling and high imbalance, with Wuhan achieving the highest level of coupling coordination. (2) The coupling coordination between industrial collaborative agglomeration and technological innovation exerts a nonlinear “inverted U-shaped” effect on economic growth. (3) Threshold model validation demonstrates that the impact of industrial collaborative agglomeration and technological innovation on economic growth evolves over time, exhibiting a “strong-weak-strong” pattern. When the level of industrial collaborative agglomeration surpasses a specific threshold, firms may encounter diseconomies of scale. Similarly, technological innovation fails to effectively contribute to economic growth within certain threshold intervals of coupling coordination

A Study on the Translation of Informative Texts under the Perspective of Communicative and Semantic Translation Theories

    Get PDF
This study employs Peter Newmark’s communicative and semantic translation theories to analyze the informative texts produced by China International Communications Group (CICG), which reveals that translators combined communicative and semantic translation strategies to convey information and facilitate cross-cultural communication. For culture-specific terms and core philosophical concepts, semantic translation is employed to preserve cultural authenticity. For background information, historical context, and complex sentence structures, communicative translation strategies such as amplification, explanatory translation, and syntactic restructuring are applied to achieve informational accuracy and acceptability. The study offers a paradigm for the effective translation of culturally specific information from China and demonstrates the applicability of Newmark’s communicative and semantic translation theories in guiding the translation of informative texts
