     This article is timed to coincide with the end of the celebration of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, declared by the UN and UNESCO in connection with the 150th anniversary of the discovery by D. 1. Mendeleev of the Periodic Law of Chemical Elements. The article highlights metrological activity of the great Russian scientist and encyclopedist and tells about how in the scientific metrological centre, he created- the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures, now D. 1. Mendeleev VNllM (VNllM), the memory of the life and activities of the first administrator of the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures Weights has been preserved for more than a hundred years. Based on research, carried out in the archives of St. Petersburg and the funds of Metrological Museum, the article for the first time details the history of the formation of the Mendeleev memorial complex on the territory of VNIIM. The contribution of the institute metrologists to the creation of such famous sights of St. Petersburg as the monument to D. 1. Mendeleev (the work of the sculptor 1. Ya. Ginzburg, 1932) and the mosaic panel « D. 1. Mendeleev Periodic system of elements «(1935) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the scientist is shown. All peripetias, related to the installation of the monument table are described: selection of options for the arrangement of elements, decoration, manufacturer and manufacturing techniques, coordination with various organizations, solving financing issues

    The authors provide information on the need to develop a reference material (RM) of the southern middle loamy black soil certifiedfor fertility indicators. The information about the stages of RM development is described: selection and preparation of soil material in the field; procedure of averaging soil material.In the determination of the RM metrological characteristics, the heterogeneity and stability characteristics of the RM are evaluated.The authors demonstrated the results of the RM certification for agrochemical indicators. The correctness of these results is confirmed by the results obtained in twenty-three accredited laboratories.The developed RM is registered in the State Register of the Approved Types of Certified Reference Materials under the number GSO 11369-2019-the RMfor composition (of agrochemical indicators) of the southern middle loamy black soil (SACHyuzhP-02).The RM is intended for metrological support of agroecological monitoring of agroindustrial complex laboratories

    Human immunoglobulin and human albumin products can negatively affect patients’ health. The residual content of haemagglutinins, anti-D antibodies, prekallikrein activator, as well as the level of anticomplementary activity, are controlled during both production and testing for compliance with normative documentation. Methods for their quantitative evaluation are based on the effects of erythrocytes hemolysis or agglutination and on the amidolytic product properties of cascade reactions. These methods require the obligatory use of reference materials (RMs). The development of RMs, acting as the carrier of the quantitative characteristics of the human immunoglobulins and human albumin impurities, is fraught with the difficulty of selecting a candidate, substantiating the certification methodology, and determining the relevant characteristics. In this research, we used human immunoglobulin solutions with normalized haemagglutinin content, anti-D antibodies or anti-complementary activity in a different range, whose quality was studied using haemagglutination and chromogenic methods, and the complement fixation test. Methodological approaches to the RM development and certification were justified using system analysis and forensic audit methods. The results demonstrate the necessity of using RMs to assess the stability of analytical work by applying anti-complementary activity determination, haemagglutinin content or anti-Dantibody methods. It is established that RMs allow the quantitative content of haemagglutinins, anti-D antibodies and prekallikrein activator to be established. The value of the CRM characteristics should be approximated to the qualitative composition of these impurities in the analysed products, but in amounts not detectable (to produce negative RM components) or exceeding permissible maxima (to produce positive RM components)

    The State Primary Measurement Standard for units of specific gas adsorption, specific surface area, specific volume and pore size of solid substances and materials (GET 210–2014) is currently in operation at UNIIM. The GET 210-2014 has calibration and measurement capabilities for pore size in a range from 2 to 100 nm, while in practice there is a need to control the pore size of solid substances and materials in a range from 100 to 10,000 nm. In order to enhance the calibration and measurement capabilities of the GET 210-2014, it was proposed to include two reference systems implementing the methods of mercury porometry and stationary filtration into the measurement standard. This work considers the state of the metrology of porometry and presents the first results of studies on the metrological characteristics of reference systems implementing the methods of mercury porometry and stationary filtration. Algorithms for calculating the uncertainty of quantities being reproduced via the methods of mercury porometry and stationary filtration and characterizing the porosity of solids have been developed and tested. The reliability of the developed algorithms is confirmed by: the results of participation in 4 international comparisons, the measurements of foreign-made reference materials, along with the results of participation in 6 rounds of interlaboratory comparisons. The measurement standard improvement will provide metrological support to measuring instruments and measurement procedures for sorption properties, porosity and gas permeability of solid substances and materials in various industrial sectors. Thus, the metrological independence of the Russian Federation will be ensured and import substitution of expensive foreign reference materials carried out

    Introduction. The article considers the problems of metrological support of catalytic activity measurements. The paper gives certain characteristics of the State Primary Special Measurement Standard for the unit of catalytic activity – KATAL and examines the role of reference materials (RMs) in ensuring the metrological traceability of measurement results.Materials and methods. A method for measuring the concentration of the recombinant protective antigen of Bacillus anthracis and the recombinant GP-protein of the Ebola virus, which means in using «sandwich» enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, was certified by FGUP «VNIIMS» as a measurement procedure. The following RMs tested by FGUP «VNIIMS» can be used for the development and production of appropriate control samples when performing measurements for comparisons: the RM for the mass concentration of the recombinant protective antigen of Bacillus anthracis in phosphate-saline solution, the RM for the mass concentration of the recombinant GP-protein of the Ebola virus, and the RM for the mass concentration of recombinant Clostridium Difficile toxin.Results. The paper presents the main reactions of the method for measuring the catalytic activity of catalysts for heterogeneous processes, which are also used to carry out exhaust gas cleaning processes.Discussion and conclusions. Thus, conditions have been created for building hierarchies of calibrations of in-demand objects established on the basis of the List of Critical Technologies of the Russian Federation, state programs for the development of industrial sectors

    This paper presents the results of the identification procedure certification and subsequent quantitative determination of the active ingredients of two-component injectable medicines (active ingredient and solvent) using Raman spectroscopy. The main objective of the research was to select approaches for estimating the metrological characteristics of the measurement procedure, which include consideration of the methodological parameters and provide the metrological traceability of measurement results to SI units. According to this purpose, the GVET 176‑1‑2010 State Secondary Measurement Standard for units of mass fraction, mass (molar) concentration of components in solid and liquid substances and materials based on volumetric titration was used. The following substances were chosen as the research objects for estimating the metrological characteristics of the measurement procedure: ascorbic acid, novocaine and sodium thiosulphate. The authors of the work have demonstrated the measurement-procedure certification results, whose accurate determination was confirmed by the results of interlaboratory comparisons. The obtained results confirmed the accuracy of the identification procedure and subsequent quantitative determination, which proves its applicability for the determination of the active ingredients in two-component injectable medicines. In addition, the possibility of developing reference materials based on the medicines under study is indicated. Further development of this study may be directed at the development of an identification procedure and its certification, with subsequent quantitative determination of the active ingredients of injectable medicines having three components as well as those having a more complex composition
