Given the importance of education to the social and economic well-being of the nation and the individual, it is critical that the curriculum is developed and implemented correctly. Different stakeholders play different roles in the process of curriculum implementation. This research study aims to investigate the role of principals in the process of curriculum implementation. The study will specifically focus on the role of high school principals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the process of curriculum implementation
Microwave Coupling Reactions
No full textA continuation in Microwave reactions involving Sonogashira coupling and bromobenzene from the previous semester. The reactions in the microwave reactor are compared to typical wet chemistry labs, through TLC, NMR, and percent yield calculations. The aim is to build larger molecules off of benzene rings and triple bonds by taking away the bromo- group and adding the reagent onto the bond. Using the TLC it is possible to see separation in products made using the long wavelength spectrum
Increasing Provider Transparency Through Open Source Data

The program was designed to give health care consumers insight into the financial relationships that exist between the medical industry and physicians and teaching hospitals. According to a CMS press release the data collection contains information on 4.4 million payments assigned to 546.000 physicians and 1,360 teaching hospitals. Cumulatively, these payments are valued at close to $3.5 billion. Patients deserve transparency when it comes to relationships between providers and the industry

Integrating Yoga in the Classroom for Cognitive Stimulation for Self-Regulation and Attributional Retraining
No full textThe objective of this study was to determine if implementing yoga practices into the classroom would decrease undesired behaviors by stimulating metacognition as well as teaching self-regulation skills to retrain attributional bias, as defined by Aber at NYU (2012). The methods used were bi-weekly yoga sessions administered by certified yoga instructors and classroom teachers trained to prompt students to use breathing methods and yoga movements to self-regulate when they became upset or disengaged from an activity. Data was collected weekly by teachers and assistants who kept a tally of undesired behaviors. At the end of the 6-month study, data showed an 87.5% decrease in undesired behavior and a 500% increase in engagement. These numbers have prompted a nationwide study, increasing participant numbers to more than 200 students of various ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and abilities to further study the effectiveness of movement and cognition on behavior
Preliminary Evaluations of Wild Strains and Standard Cultivars of Hops, Humulus Lupulus,in Southern Ohio
No full textCommon hops, Humulus lupulus,are an economically valuable crop used as a bittering agent in the production of beer. In recent years, a demand for locally sourced, unique, and robust growing hops has increased due to exponential increase in microbreweries. In order to meet demands for local, disease and pest resistant hops, an emphasis is placed on studying wild varieties in comparison to standard cultivars. Collection and cultivation of both standard varieties and wild isolines are being used to determine and collect morphometric data which may indicate desirable attributes for cultivation and use locally. Preliminary results of plant survival rates show that some of the wild isolines and standard cultivars propagate at similar rates when grown in a controlled setting. Comparisons will be made to predict varieties better suited to grow in Ohio conditions

Mountains and Rivers: A Statistical Analysis of Appalachian and Ohio River Valley Identities
No full textShawnee State University resides in an area that has many overlapping identities. The area is part of the Ohio River Valley and is an Appalachian county. These are the two identities that were examined for this project and focused on how people followed these identities. This presentation will focus on a statistical analysis of Appalachian and Ohio River Valley identities. In the presentation, various predictors will be examined for statistical significance in predicting Appalachian and Ohio River Valley identities. Various methods of statistical analysis including cross tables, logistic regression and general linear models were used for the analysis of the predictors and yielded very interesting results. From these results we have a clearer understanding of the factors that leads to someone identifying as Appalachian or Ohio River Valley
