The Analysis of Black Hole Masses Through Spectroscopy
Most galaxies have a massive black hole at their center, and these black holes grow through accreting gas from the galaxy. So we can expect there to be a relation between galaxy mass and black hole mass. Using the spectra of several galaxies, we have measured the masses of their black holes. The gas orbiting the black holes moves at speeds related to the black hole mass, and we can measure the speeds spectroscopically from their Doppler shift. In addition to this, we have observations of the galaxy as a whole with Integral Field Spectroscopy, in which every pixel in the image has a spectrum. This way, we can measure the Doppler shift of each part of the galaxy as it orbits the center, allowing us to measure the mass of the galaxy
Astrochemistry - Spectroscopic Studies of Isotopically Labeled Gases
Isotopic gases could be characterized as multiple gases with the same number of electrons present but with a different number of neutrons within the nuclei. A product collected could contain all possible isotopes of an atom. The separation of these isotopes could be analyzed to better differentiate and understand what is present. Various gases including hydrogen chloride and hydrogen bromide have been synthesized using deuterated sulfuric acid and anhydrous salts in an air-sensitive manner. Once collected, the gases were analyzed through a Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) method. Calculations to determine the rotational and vibrational constants were conducted via PGOPHER as well as least-mean-square regression analysis within Excel. Two peaks were presented in the spectra representing the two different isotopes. For hydrogen chloride these isotopes were for chlorine-35 and chlorine-37. Relationships of the gases present were better analyzed to differentiate the isotopes from one another which can be necessary in chemical synthesis
math small group intruction
This paper examines the importance of small group math instruction. Students learn differently, at their own paces, and from different strategies. This paper compares the difference in students’ achievement from whole and small group math instruction. Data was tested from multiple students with different academic levels in a first-grade classroom. The conclusion of this research is that small groups benefit student learning. This conclusion was found by looking at data and by student interviews

Does Online Learning Demonstrate Students Developing Mastery in the Science Classroom and Laboratory Activities?
This action research paper will explore the question on whether online learning is assisting in students developing mastery in the science classroom and in the laboratory. This study will focus on how teachers can assist students in developing mastery through assessment methods unique to their individual learning style. Previous information explored in the literature review identified several areas of focus that can affect the rate of student learning. The students were surveyed once a week with questions that revolved around learning styles, assignments, and means to improve. By using anonymous survey response styles, the teachers can identify shortcomings in their own learning directions and explore methods to increase student success rate. One goal I will strive for in my classroom is that each student will have a voice. The purpose of this research was to listen to the voices of the students to learn their needs
Analyzing the Effects of Testing Environments in a Seventh Grade Classroom
Abstract
The primary focus of this study was meant to analyze the difference between stressful versus non-stressful testing environments and how well students were able to correctly answer questions under both conditions. This paper will provide background information on various factors that could affect test performance such as stress, anxiety, and high standards. This study also analyzed preferred study methods among a specified group of seventh grade students in hopes of gaining insight on how to accommodate in-class study methods that will promote student participation, confidence, and overall test performance. This study and the research methods associated with it produced results that were not initially predicted, leaving little room for interpretation but multiple indications of future research ideas. This paper will discuss the limitations, flaws in methodology, as well as future research ideas that arose from the data collection.

The Impacts of the Appropriate Instructional Interventions from RTI
The purpose of this action research project was to observe the impacts of RTI on students’ achievement. This study investigated the instructional methods used during RTI to see if they were beneficial to the students or if changes should be made. The study was done in a rural 3rd grade school district. The research done within this study was with four 3rd grade students. During RTI the instructional methods were done in small groups. The groups are based off the students’ reading levels. Throughout the year based on the students’ STAR assessment scores and F&P scores the students have shown improvement on their overall reading growth to show that the methods being done in RTI have helped. This study shows how school districts should set up and utilize their RTI effectively
