Multiplier estimates:To bias or not to bias?
t is well known that multiplier estimates within an interindustry context may be biased when the input coefficients are stochastic. Several conditions have been derived under which the estimates were shown to be biased, all with the same sign. In contrast to these analytical results, however, simulations using a stochastic transactions table unexpectedly reported the unbiasedness of multiplier estimates. This note argues that the sample sizes were too small. It is shown that for increased sample sizes the multiplier estimates are all positively and significantly biased, in line with the analytical results, but the biases are very small

Essays on borrowing and debt contracting:a theoretical analysis and empirical evidence for Vietnam
As mentioned in chapter 1, the key purpose of this thesis is to deepen our knowledge of debt contracting under asymmetric information. We have pursued this purpose from a theoretical and an empirical perspective. This has been done in six chapters, organized in two parts, in which different but related aspects of debt contracting have been addressed. While the first part explores the theoretical and empirical relevance of a standard issue of debt contracting - the signalling property of debt maturity - in the context of bank-firm relationships, the second part deals with various issues of debt contracting vis-à-vis different types of financial intermediaries in the context of household borrowing in Vietnam. The aim of this final chapter is to round up the main findings of each chapter, to provide a general discussion of the results, to point out the limitations of the study, and propose some directions for future research ...
