Reading Teachers' Perceptions And Attitudes Of A Dialogic Approach To Teaching In Elementary Classrooms
Get PDFA limited body of research exists that considers reading teachers' perceptions and attitudes about a dialogic approach to teaching (Dunn, 2018). The purpose of this qualitative research study was to investigate elementary reading teachers' perceptions and attitudes about a dialogic approach to teaching. Sociocultural Theory was the framework that grounded this research study. The researcher used a purposeful sample of four elementary reading teachers. Each participant was interviewed, and two classroom observations were conducted. A constant comparative method was used to analyze the data. The five themes that emerged were not all classroom discussions are equal, student barriers to rich classroom discussions, the positive impact of assertive influences on student learning, barriers that hinder teachers' abilities to extend discussions, and teachers' limited knowledge of dialogic teaching. The results revealed consistencies among participants related to their perceptions and abilities to extend discussions and teachers' limited knowledge about a dialogic approach to teaching. Each participant felt comfortable teaching both fiction and informational texts in their classrooms. Results determined that affirming students' responses and providing positive feedback were the most common forms of dialogic tools used in elementary classrooms. Teachers had no prior knowledge of dialogic teaching. However, teacher participants expressed an interest to know more about dialogic teaching; specifically, how to apply the five elements in their daily instructional practices. Results suggested elementary reading teachers need professional development training to inform their instructional practices to develop a dialogic approach to teaching

Kohrs between 1981 and 1986. They consist primarily of reports, briefing material and correspondence and are arranged alphabetically by folder subject. The first section (in box 1) are all files related to the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel. This panel was formed in 1968, after the Apollo 204 fire, to review all potential hazards in aerospace facilities and operations. Committee members in the time frame covered in these files, included H. E. Grier (chairman), W. M. Hawkins, F. C. DiLuzio and others from the aerospace community

Inventory of NSTS Congressional Hearings
No full textThis subseries contains documents related to NSTS Congressional hearings from fiscal years 1975, 1976, and 1985. Most of the materials are statements by various NASA personnel to House and Senate subcommittees. Dates range from 1974 to 1975 and from 1983 to 1986. Some of the later documents deal with technology's influence towards and from the space program, as well as an interesting presentation on the evolution of the shuttle design. The provenance of this collection is the NSTS Program Office. Some of the later materials indicate that they were associated with Richard Kohrs, who was deputy director and eventually director of the NSTS Program from 1983 to 1989. Other related collections to examine are the Richard H. Kohrs papers in the Shuttle Series and the Joseph Loftus papers in the Center Series

The study determined whether teacher credentials, teacher experience, professional development, and degree area in this Head Start Programs influence low income/minority children and their families and set a foundation for academic success. The study also focused on the difference of a quality early childhood program as opposed to other childcare options where teachers are not credentialed.
Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages, frequencies, two-tailed independent t-tests, and regression techniques. The qualitative data, gathered through interviews, were analyzed using an inductive coding process
Gender ideology and influencing society: Destabilizing the normalization of gender-based violence through infographics
Get PDFInforming individuals about how gender ideology influences society is vital in today’s world. Changing the conversations about sexual assault and rape can help destabilize the normalization of gender-based violence. It is important to foster a safe environment for individuals to share and to allow people to learn about these topics to make them less taboo or controversial. The project discussed is intended to assist in talking about gender, sexuality, consent, and domestic violence more openly. As a result of this project, topics could be expanded in the future to include bodily autonomy, sex, equal rights, racism, misogyny, and bigotry. Constructing an educational tool/database that could be shared through social media platforms might help break the stigma of gender-based violence. This paper documents the progress of this project from idea to reality. The project created an educational tool/database that addresses myths, assumptions, and stereotypes people have about consent, gender, sexuality, and domestic violence. This project is not just a project for me; it holds personal meaning. In this paper, I give a glimpse of my life that I rarely share with the world, but I think it is important to share with others going through similar situations. I want others to feel comfortable and know they are safe with me. The more you read, the more you have a better understanding of the topic
