A review of the Neotropical genus Diochus Erichson, 1840 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae)
Get PDFDie neotropischen Arten der Gattung Diochus wurden bearbeitet. Zwei Arten wurden synonymisiert: Diochus flavicans Sharp, 1876 = D. vicinus Sharp, 1876 und D. vilis Sharp, 1885 = D. schaumii Kraatz, 1860. Sechs Artengruppen wurden unterschieden, die folgende Arten enthalten: D. longicornis-Guppe mit den Arten D. adisi spec. nov., D. ashei spec. nov., D. guianensis spec. nov., D. longicornis Sharp, 1876, D. tarsalis Sharp, 1876 und D. unicolor spec. nov.; D. inornatus-Gruppe mit den Arten D. antennalis Cameron, 1922, D. amazonensis spec. nov., D. hanagarthi spec. nov., D. hermani spec. nov., D. hibbsi spec. nov., D. inornatus Sharp, 1885, D. newtoni spec. nov., D. novus spec. nov., D. plaumanni spec. nov., D. schuelkei spec. nov., D. tricolor spec. nov. und D. vicinus Sharp, 1876; D. maculicollis-Gruppe mit den Arten: D. brooksi spec. nov., D. ecuadoriensis spec. nov., D. maculicollis Fauvel, 1891, D. mexicanus spec. nov., D. panamaensis spec. nov., D. peruvianus spec. nov. und D. pumilio Bernhauer, 1929; D. schaumii-Gruppe mit den Arten D. angustiformis spec. nov., D. argentinus spec. nov., D. brunneus spec. nov., D. curtipennis spec. nov. und D. schaumii Kraatz, 1860; D. verhaaghi-Gruppe mit den zwei Arten D. verhaaghi spec. nov. und D. santacatarinae spec. nov.; D. nanus-Gruppe mit den Arten D. apicipennis Cameron, 1922, D. nanus Erichson, 1839, D. parvulus Kraatz, 1860 und D. perplexus Cameron, 1922. Die Stellung von D. formicetorum Bernhauer, 1927 zu einer der Gruppen ist ungewiss, da nur Weibchen vorhanden sind. Schlüssel zur Bestimmung der Gruppen und Arten werden vorgestellt sowie die geographische Verbreitung der Arten diskutiert.

Six species groups are differentiated containing the following species: D. longicornis-group with the species D. adisi spec. nov., D. ashei spec. nov., D. guianensis spec. nov., D. longicornis Sharp, 1876, D. tarsalis Sharp, 1876, and D. unicolor spec. nov.; D. inornatusgroup with the species D. antennalis Cameron, 1922, D. amazonensis spec. nov., D. hanagarthi spec. nov., D. hermani spec. nov., D. hibbsi spec. nov., D. inornatus Sharp, 1885, D. newtoni spec. nov., D. novus spec. nov., D. plaumanni spec. nov., D. schuelkei spec. nov., D. tricolor spec. nov., and D. vicinus Sharp, 1876; D. maculicollis-group with the species: D. brooksi spec. nov., D. ecuadoriensis spec. nov., D. maculicollis Fauvel, 1891, D. mexicanus spec. nov., D. panamaensis spec. nov., D. peruvianus spec. nov., and D. pumilio Bernhauer, 1929; D. schaumii-group with the species D. angustiformis spec. nov., D. argentinus spec. nov., D. brunneus spec. nov., D. curtipennis spec. nov., and D. schaumii Kraatz, 1860; D. verhaaghi-group with the two species D. verhaaghi spec. nov. and D. santacatarinae spec. nov.; D. nanus-group with the species D. apicipennis Cameron, 1922, D. nanus Erichson, 1839, D. parvulus Kraatz, 1860, and D. perplexus Cameron, 1922. D. formicetorum Bernhauer, 1927 is with unclear position among the named groups. A key to the species groups and to species is provided. The relation among groups, the ecology, and the geographic distribution is discussed.

On the Ischnosoma fauna of Georgia (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Tachyporinae)
Get PDFDrei sehr wahrscheinlich endemische Arten aus der Ischnosoma spelaeum-Gruppe werden beschrieben und abgebildet: Ischnosoma acutum spec. nov. (Georgien: Svaneti, Racha); I. barbigerum spec. nov. (Georgien: Svaneti); I. molle spec. nov. (Georgien: Adjara). Typenmaterial von I. major (Luze, 1901) und I. caucasicum Kocian, 1997 wird revidiert. Weitere Nachweise beschriebener Arten der Gattung Ischnosoma Stephens, 1829 werden aus Georgien, teilweise auch aus benachbarten Regionen gemeldet. Die Gattung ist derzeit in Georgien mit insgesamt sieben sicher nachgewiesenen Arten vertreten, davon zwei weit verbreitete Arten aus der I. pictum-Gruppe und fünf endemische Arten aus der I. spelaeum-Gruppe. Das Vorkommen einer einer weiteren Art der I. spelaeum-Gruppe, I. caucasicum, ist zweifelhaft. Die Verbreitungsgebiete der Arten der I. spelaeum-Gruppe werden revidiert und anhand von Karten illustriert. Eine Reihe von Literaturnachweisen ist zoogeographisch nicht plausibel; offensichtlich handelt es sich um Falschmeldungen.

(Georgia: Svaneti, Racha); I. barbigerum spec. nov. (Georgia: Svaneti); I. molle spec. nov. (Georgia: Adjara). Type material of I. major (Luze, 1901) and I. caucasicum Kocian, 1997 is revised. Additional records of previously described species of Ischnosoma Stephens, 1829 are reported from Georgia, partly also from other regions. Seven species of the genus have reliably been recorded from Georgia, two species of the I. pictum group and widespread, five of the I. spelaeum group and with restricted distributions. The presence of an additional species of the I. spelaeum group, I. caucasicum, requires confirmation. The distributions of the species of the I. spelaeum group are revised and mapped. Several previous literature records are zoogeographically implausible and consequently probably erroneous.

Eine Bestimmungstabelle der Arten der südöstlichen Orientalis und ein aktualisierter Katalog der beschriebenen Arten der Paläarktis und der Orientalis werden erstellt. Zyras sensu strictu ist in der Paläarktis und der Orientalis derzeit mit insbesamt 122 beschriebenen Arten vertreten, von denen 22 auf den Sunda-Inseln nachgewiesen wurden. Die Länder mit der höchsten Diversität sind China (46 beschriebene Arten), Indien (20), Indonesia (19), Malaysia (15), Thailand (14), Nepal (12), Laos (11) und Vietnam (8).

(Z.) lunatus spec. nov. (Malaysia: Selangor). Eight synonymies are proposed: Zyras bryanti Cameron, 1943 = Z. mortuorum Pace, 1990, syn. nov., = Z. paederinus Pace, 2008, syn. nov.; Zyras nigerrimus Cameron, 1943 = Z. bartolozzii Pace, 2003, syn. nov., = Z. alboterminalis Pace, 2008, syn. nov.; Z. granulipennis Cameron, 1930 = Z. pervariolosus Pace, 2008, syn. nov.; Z. matangensis Cameron, 1943 = Z. daiaccorum Pace, 2008, syn. nov.; Z. montanus (Bernhauer, 1915) = Z. variolatus Pace, 2003, syn. nov.; Z. preangeranus Cameron, 1939 = Z. quadriterminalis Pace, 2008, syn. nov. One species is excluded from Zyras: Myrmedonota modiglianii (Cameron, 1925), comb. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Zyras elegantulus Cameron, 1939, Z. semirufus Cameron, 1939, and Z. flavus Cameron, 1939. Additional records of nine named species are reported. A key to the species recorded from the southeastern Oriental region and an updated catalogue of the species of the Palaearctic and Oriental regions are provided. The subgenus is currently represented in the Palaearctic and Oriental regions by a total of 122 described species. Twenty-two species have been recorded from Sunda Islands. The countries with the greatest diversity are China (46 named species), India (20), Indonesia (19), Malaysia (15), Thailand (14), Nepal (12), Laos (11), and Vietnam (8).
