Margaret Fountaine (1862 – 1940).

    Get PDF
StichwörterBritish Entomologist, Victorian Heritance, World Wide Expeditions, Entomological results, LegacyBiographicalk scetch on the british entomologis Margaret Fountaine on base of excerpts of her diaries, which not before 38 years after her death in Trinidad 1940 were partially published. Descended from a pastoral household in the North Eastern Anglian province it was not perspective to convert a hobby into a lifetime compassion for entomology. She was promoted by the notorious. Collector Henry John Elwes. Due to heritage she was financially independent and capable to organize extensive excursions in Southern Europe, Middle East and North Africa, finally extensive collecting journeys in all continents in order of British and American museums and collectors. The Syrian Christ Khalil Neimy, fifteen years younger than the lady, became 1901 her permanent companion as butterfly hunter and her lover till his premature death in 1929. Since 1898 she was Member of the Royal Entomological Society (founded 1833) and was in the year 1912 invited to Membership of the Linnean Society of London (founded in 1788). After her death she bequeathed to the Castle Museum at Norwich a collection of 22.000 Diurnal Lepidoptera.KeywordsBritish Entomologist, Victorian Heritance, World Wide Expeditions, Entomological results, Legac

Two genera of Lathrobiina are described, illustrated, and distinguished from Lathrobium Gravenhorst, 1802 and allied genera: Elytrobium gen. n. (type species: Lathrobium monilicorne Sharp, 1889) and Sinlathrobium gen. n. (type species: Lathrobium lobrathiforme Assing, 2012). Elytrobium is distributed in the southeast of the East Palaearctic region and includes six species: E. monilicorne (Sharp, 1889), comb. n. (Japan); E. gongganum sp. n. (China: Gongga Shan); E. qinlinganum sp. n. (China: Qinling Shan); E. seminitidum sp. n. (China: Shaanxi); E. scindens sp. n. (China: Daba Shan); E. alesianum sp. n. (Taiwan). Sinlathrobium comprises four species from China: S. lobrathiforme (Assing, 2012), comb. n. (Yunnan); S. lobrathioides (Assing, 2012), comb. n. (transferred from Lathrobium) (Chongqing); S. densepunctatum sp. n. (Sichuan); S. iniquum sp. n. (Yunnan). Keys to the species of both genera are provided, and their distributions are mapped. Although all the species of both genera appear to be fully winged, four of the six Elytrobium and all the Sinlathrobium species have been recorded from only a single locality each. Three Elytrobium and three Sinlathrobium species are currently represented only by their respective holotypes.Stichwörter Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae, Lathrobiina, Elytrobium, Sinlathrobium, Lathrobium, Lobrathium, Tetartopeus, East Palaearctic region, China, Taiwan, Japan, taxonomy, new genera, new species, new combinations, key to species, distribution mapsNomenklatorische Handlungenalesianum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.gongganum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.monilicorne (Sharp, 1889) (Elytrobium), LT; comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium monilicorne Sharp, 1889quinlinganum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.scindens Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.seminitidum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.Elytrobium Assing, 2013 (Lathrobiina), gen. nov.Sinlathrobium Assing, 2013 (Lathrobiina), gen. noc.densepunctatum Assing, 2013 (Sinlathrobium), spec. nov.iniquum Assing, 2013 (Sinlathrobium), spec. nov.lobrathiforme (Assing, 2012) (Sinlathrobium), comb. nov. hirtherto Lathrobium lobrathiforme Assing, 2012lobrathioides (Assing, 2012) (Sinlathrobium), comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium lobrathioides Assing, 2012Zwei Gattungen aus der Subtribus Lathrobiina werden beschrieben, abgebildet und von Lathrobium Gravenhorst, 1802 und verwandten Gattungen unterschieden: Elytrobium gen. n. (Typusart: Lathrobium monilicorne Sharp, 1889) und Sinlathrobium gen. n. (Typusart: Lathrobium lobrathiforme Assing, 2012). (Japan); E. gongganum sp. n. (China: Gongga Shan); E. qinlinganum sp. n. (China: Qinling Shan); E. seminitidum sp. n. (China: Shaanxi); E. scindens sp. n. (China: Daba Shan); E. alesianum sp. n. (Taiwan). Keywords Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae, Lathrobiina, Elytrobium, Sinlathrobium, Lathrobium, Lobrathium, Tetartopeus, East Palaearctic region, China, Taiwan, Japan, taxonomy, new genera, new species, new combinations, key to species, distribution mapsNomenclatural Actsalesianum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.gongganum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.monilicorne (Sharp, 1889) (Elytrobium), LT; comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium monilicorne Sharp, 1889quinlinganum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.scindens Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.seminitidum Assing, 2013 (Elytrobium), spec. nov.Elytrobium Assing, 2013 (Lathrobiina), gen. nov.Sinlathrobium Assing, 2013 (Lathrobiina), gen. noc.densepunctatum Assing, 2013 (Sinlathrobium), spec. nov.iniquum Assing, 2013 (Sinlathrobium), spec. nov.lobrathiforme (Assing, 2012) (Sinlathrobium), comb. nov. hirtherto Lathrobium lobrathiforme Assing, 2012lobrathioides (Assing, 2012) (Sinlathrobium), comb. nov. hitherto Lathrobium lobrathioides Assing, 201

StichwörterAlbania, faunistic review, Psychidae, LepidopteraIn the present paper an overview of the albanian Psychid-fauna is given and evaluated the relevant literature. The first records date from the early years of the 20th Century and a summary of the species inventory was given in 1931. The expedition of the German Entomological Institute in Eberswalde to Albania in 1961 provided further evidence. Since 2006, the author was several times in Albania for studies of Psychid-fauna. The records of Psychids are currently a total of 77 localities in 24 provinces spread over the entire country. Until 1931 and supplemented by the Albania Expedition 1961 a total of 16 species were known. The author found for the first time five species for the albanian faune. In addition to the initial description of Epichnopterix hellenidensis are Pseudobankesia sp., Luffia lapidella (Goeze, 1783), Stichobasis helicinoides (Heylaerts, 1879) and Oiketicoides lutea (Staudinger, 1871). Until today 21 Psychid-species have been detected. Taleporia politella (Ochsenheimer, 1816) and Acanthopsyche zelleri (Mann, 1855) must be delete from the faunistical list from zoogeographical aspect, other taxa are discussed. The current literature of Albania for Proutia betulina (Zeller, 1839), Psyche casta (Pallas, 1767) and Sterrhopterix fusca (Haworth, 1809) need to be revised, since they come from sites that are currently among the neighboring Kosovo and Macedonia. In addition, an overview of all Albanian species to occuring in the neighboring countries is given.KeywordsAlbania, faunistic review, Psychidae, Lepidopter
