    New Graphical Model for Computing Optimistic Decisions in Possibility Theory Framework

    This paper first proposes a new graphical model for decision making under uncertainty based on min-based possibilistic networks. A decision problem under uncertainty is described by means of two distinct min-based possibilistic networks: the first one expresses agent's knowledge while the second one encodes agent's preferences representing a qualitative utility. We then propose an efficient algorithm for computing optimistic optimal decisions using our new model for representing possibilistic decision making under uncertainty. We show that the computation of optimal decisions comes down to compute a normalization degree of the junction tree associated with the graph resulting from the fusion of agent's beliefs and preferences. This paper also proposes an alternative way for computing optimal optimistic decisions. The idea is to transform the two possibilistic networks into two equivalent possibilistic logic knowledge bases, one representing agent's knowledge and the other represents agent's preferences. We show that computing an optimal optimistic decision comes down to compute the inconsistency degree of the union of the two possibilistic bases augmented with a given decision

    Integration of Link and Semantic Relations for Information Recommendation

    Information services on the Internet are being used as an important tool to facilitate discovery of the information that is of user interests. Many approaches have been proposed to discover the information on the Internet, while the search engines are the most common ones. However, most of the current approaches of information discovery can discover the keyword-matching information only but cannot recommend the most recent and relative information to users automatically. Sometimes users can give only a fuzzy keyword instead of an accurate one. Thus, some desired information would be ignored by the search engines. Moreover, the current search engines cannot discover the latent but logically relevant information or services for users. This paper measures the semantic-similarity and link-similarity between keywords. Based on that, it introduces the concept of similarity of web pages, and presents a method for information recommendation. The experimental evaluation and comparisons with the existing studies are finally performed

    Adaptable Service Oriented Infrastructure Provisioning with Lightweight Containers Virtualization Technology

    Modern computing infrastructures should enable realization of converged provisioning and governance operations on virtualized computing, storage and network resources used on behalf of users' workloads. These workloads must have ensured sufficient access to the resources to satisfy required QoS. This requires flexible platforms providing functionality for construction, activation and governance of Runtime Infrastructure which can be realized according to Service Oriented Infrastructure (SOI) paradigm. Implementation of the SOI management framework requires definition of flexible architecture and utilization of advanced software engineering and policy-based techniques. The paper presents an Adaptable SOI Provisioning Platform which supports adaptable SOI provisioning with lightweight virtualization, compliant with the structured process model suitable for construction, activation and governance of IT environments. The requirements, architecture and implementation of the platform are all discussed. Practical usage of the platform is presented on the basis of a complex case study for provisioning JEE middleware on top of the Solaris 10 lightweight virtualization platform

    A Set of Refactoring Rules for UML-B Specifications

    UML-B is a graphical formal modelling notation which is based on UML and relies on Event-B and its verification tools. In this paper, we propose annealing and introduce subtyping rules as well-known refactoring rules which can improve and assist the derivation of object-oriented design from an abstract specification written in UML-B. We prove that the proposed annealing rules are behavior preserving. We also demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of our refactoring rules by applying them on two UML-B specifications

    Practical Aspects of Data Mining Using LISp-Miner

    The paper describes some practical aspects of using LISp-Miner for data mining. LISp-Miner is a software tool that is under development at the University of Economics, Prague. We will review the different types of knowledge patterns discovered by the system, and discuss their applicability for various data mining tasks.     The contemporary large scale measuring systems in the real-time environment make extensive use of histogramming as a tool for the experimental data quality monitoring. The processing of a large number of data channels requires a suitable computing power where the graphical processors seem to be well suited. Histogramming operations run on the central and graphics processing units are discussed. Results of the performance measurements including various configurations of the allocation of the histograms in various parts of the memory of used devices are presented

    Improving the Arc-Eager Model with Reverse Parsing

    A known way to improve the accuracy of dependency parsers is to combine several different parsing algorithms, in such a way that the weaknesses of each of the models can be compensated by the strengths of others. For example, voting-based combination schemes are based on variants of the idea of analyzing each sentence with various parsers, and constructing a combined output where the head of each node is determined by "majority vote" among the different parsers. Typically, such approaches combine very different parsing models to take advantage of the variability in the parsing errors they make. In this paper, we show that consistent improvements in accuracy can be obtained in a much simpler way by combining a single parser with itself. In particular, we start with a greedy implementation of the Nivre pseudo-projective arc-eager algorithm, a well-known left-to-right transition-based parser, and we combine it with a "mirrored" version of the algorithm that analyzes sentences from right to left. To determine which of the two obtained outputs we trust for the head of each node, we use simple criteria based on the length and position of dependency arcs. Experiments on several datasets from the CoNLL-X shared task and the WSJ section of the English Penn Treebank show that the novel combination system obtains better performance than the baseline arc-eager parser in all cases. To test the generality of the approach, we also perform experiments with a different transition system (arc-standard) and a different search strategy (beam search), obtaining similar improvements in all these settings

    New Model of Maximal Covering Location Problem with Fuzzy Conditions

MCLP is applied in many different real-world problems with several modifications. In this paper a new model of MCLP with fuzzy conditions is presented. It uses two types of fuzzy numbers for describing two main parameters of MCLP - coverage radius and distances between locations.     Document Summarization Using NMF and Pseudo Relevance Feedback Based on K-Means Clustering

    According to the increment of accessible text data source on the internet, it has increased the necessity of the automatic text document summarization. However, the performance of the automatic methods might be poor because the semantic gap between high level user's summary requirement and low level vector representation of machine exists. In this paper, to overcome that problem, we propose a new document summarization method using a pseudo relevance feedback based on clustering method and NMF (non-negative matrix factorization). Relevance feedback is effective technique to minimize the semantic gap of information processing, but the general relevance feedback needs an intervention of a user. Additionally, the refined query without user interference by pseudo relevance feedback may be biased. The proposed method provides an automatic relevance judgment to reformulate query using the clustering method for minimizing a bias of query expansion. The method also can improve the quality of document summarization since the summarized documents are influenced by the semantic features of documents and the expanded query. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better performance than the other document summarization methods

    Construction of Near-Optimal Vertex Clique Covering for Real-World Networks

    We propose a method based on combining a constructive and a bounding heuristic to solve the vertex clique covering problem (CCP), where the aim is to partition the vertices of a graph into the smallest number of classes, which induce cliques. Searching for the solution to CCP is highly motivated by analysis of social and other real-world networks, applications in graph mining, as well as by the fact that CCP is one of the classical NP-hard problems. Combining the construction and the bounding heuristic helped us not only to find high-quality clique coverings but also to determine that in the domain of real-world networks, many of the obtained solutions are optimal, while the rest of them are near-optimal. In addition, the method has a polynomial time complexity and shows much promise for its practical use. Experimental results are presented for a fairly representative benchmark of real-world data. Our test graphs include extracts of web-based social networks, including some very large ones, several well-known graphs from network science, as well as coappearance networks of literary works' characters from the DIMACS graph coloring benchmark. We also present results for synthetic pseudorandom graphs structured according to the Erdös-Renyi model and Leighton's model
