Making Sense of Audiowalks: Methodological Considerations for the Study of Locative Media
This article discusses audiowalks as mobile locative media and raises issues around how to analyze such hybrid and situated aesthetic and narrative experiences. We employ sensory ethnographies coupled with post-phenomenological concepts to present a mode of analysis that captures the relationality between the technological and embodied aspects of the experiences. Audiowalks and similar hybrid experiences are created and experienced through several media formats (text, image, sound) and exist in between and across several aesthetic traditions and genres (literature, art, music). The case that we analyze in the article uses mobile media to distribute locative digital experiences that are intimately tied to geographical places: Ellen Reid’s SOUNDWALK is a GPS-enabled work of public art that uses music to illuminate the natural environment (and can be found in several cities currently). We suggest that a situated awareness is needed to critically analyze works such as this, and that sensory ethnographic approaches in combination with multistability created by technology can be adapted to suit such an analysis. We wish to broaden the scope of such methods by moving beyond the study of individuals and their activities to also include the relationship between locative media and aesthetic experiences that they engage with as users/readers/listeners of audiowalks
“The World Is Still in Such a Muddle”: A Brief Introduction to the Anna Howell Hayward Lisle Papers, 1934-1957
The American Anna Howell Hayward Lisle left an extensive archive of papers and pictures that let the reader penetrate the logistics as well as the ideals underpinning post-WWII humanitarian aid provision to Greece. Hayward addressed the needs of local Greek people and especially of rural children in what was still a patriarchal society. Working through the trials and tribulations of a country that was sliding into civil war, Hayward embodied the growing role of Western women in the rapidly globalizing field of postwar relief distribution. Her thus far little-known letters speak to a sense of religious mission, but also to a mindset of top-down “civilizing.” Her perspective as a keen letter-writer adds another dimension to the otherwise scant primary sources written by women at the onset of the Cold War about a geographical area and welfare work in the “periphery.”

THE END OF IDEOLOGY: THE LEFT-RIGHT DISTINCTION IN GREECE AFTER THE ECONOMIC CRISIS
This research aimed to investigate the effect of age, gender and political identity on the end of ideology’s perception in Greece. While social scientists often refer to the decline of the left-right distinction, the present research focused on the content and differentiated meaning of left-right ideology based on individuals’ identity. Participants (N = 400) represented three generations (20-30, 40-55, and over 60 years of age). Individuals replied to 18 close-ended questions related to the left-right distinction, to a left-right self-placement scale, and to a scale of prototypical ideas of the right and the left. Exploratory factor analysis on the ideas regarding the left-right ideology revealed four factors, rejection of the left-right distinction, defense of political right, disappearance of the conflict between the left and the right nowadays, cooperation between left and right. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied for the exploration of the effects of generation, gender and political identity. Τhe results showed that while those positioned on the center (neither left, nor right) rejected the left-right distinction, as obsolete, the rightists and even more the leftists, asserted that it continues to exist. Women tended to reject more than men the left-right distinction, while men to defend right-wing policies and cooperation between the right and the left. Moreover, people aged 40-55 years old believed that there is cooperation between the left and the right. Young people, aged 20-30 years old, were less likely to support political right and tended to reject the left-right distinction
The Biblical Book of Daniel and the Religious Transformation of the Court Novella
In this article, a series of legendary narratives included in the biblical Book of Daniel (chapters 1–6) and related writings are examined in comparison with novellistic materials from other ancient traditions (Aramaic, Egyptian, Iranian, Greek), in order to highlight a prominent tendency of ancient Jewish storytelling. Well-known story patterns and motifs of secular orientation are reworked in such a way as to reflect on Judaic religious identity and the place of the Jewish people in a hostile world. In the background of the narrative chapters of Daniel lies the prolific narrative genre of the “court novella,” which fictionalises the adventures of a gifted official in the setting of a royal court full of intrigues. The Biblical episodes draw themes and storylines from a range of sources (the wisdom romance of Ahiqar, Egyptian tales of wizard-courtiers, Iranian legends with courtly settings) and transform them into moralised and pietistic parables. Like the protagonists of the court novella, Daniel and his companions step into a milieu of dark guiles and face hard challenges. However, instead of relying on heroic valour, wizardry, or worldly wisdom, the Jewish hero is armed with unflinching religious steadfastness, which earns him the protection of God.In this article, a series of legendary narratives included in the biblical Book of Daniel (chapters 1–6) and related writings are examined in comparison with novellistic materials from other ancient traditions (Aramaic, Egyptian, Iranian, Greek), in order to highlight a prominent tendency of ancient Jewish storytelling.

Since their inception, video games have maintained a close relationship with cinema, leveraging their popularity to engage new audiences. In recent years, the aesthetics of cinema and video games have merged, creating a new hybrid form known as machinima. This virtual universe, where various artistic forms intersect, appeals to younger generations. Machinimas, designed for distribution, sharing, and sparking conversations, enable players to become creators, turning video games into tools for story development and artistic expression. The creation of machinima demands a variety of specialized skills, such as scenario creation, dialogue writing, storyboarding, and effective use of images, objects, and settings. This process validates the use of machinimas in education, offering a practical and instructive way to apply the skills necessary for their production. This article seeks to explore the interplay between video games and cinema, and to discuss the benefits and challenges of incorporating machinima into foreign language teaching, especially within a task-based teaching and learning

Des représentations de l’obscénité: Désir de l’interdit et transgression intermédiale, à partir de l’adaptation cinématographique de 'Ma Mère' de Georges Bataille
In our approach, we will attempt to demonstrate that Bataille’s fictional universe is immanent to an intimate dimension of being in the same way as eroticism, which is based on the dialectic of the prohibition and transgression, whereas its cinematic adaptation tends to distort them through a visual representation of sexuality rooted in explicit, debauchery and incestuous relationships. The transition from one medium, one form of expression and one system of signs to another is not without compromise, especially as the spectator becomes witness to a semantic shift, an alteration of meaning produced at the intersection of media frontiers
