Practice of good governance and corporate governance

    Get PDF
Corporate governance reforms are implemented around the world and may impact upon the population worldwide. In developing countries, such reforms are implemented in a broader context that is primarily defined by previous attempts of promoting “development” and recent processes of economic globalization. In this context, corporate governance reforms (in combination with the liberalization reforms associated with the economic globalization), in effect, represent a new development strategy for third world countries. The basic questions arising with respect to this situation are: what are the prospects for this new development model and whether alternatives should be considered

The state must accomplish its objectives. For overtaking each economic, industrial, cultural, political, technical sector needs, needs financial resources; but not always the state internal financial resources cover entirely financial needs. Therefore, each state needs to apply for external or internal loans.

Book reviews: Christopher A. Sims, Macroeconomics and Reality

Two main ideas derive from a careful reading of the Macroeconomics and Reality study. The former one targets the appropriate nature of the methods used in macroeconomics and how they report to the economic reality. In this direction, Sims’ opinion looks radical. The mentions of the macroeconomic models (variables and equations) should rely on a set of data (empirical approach) or an analytical relation among different variables (theoretical approach). Sims explicitly excludes the mentions derived from purely statistical and econometric restrictions or other simplifying presumptions...

    Get PDF
There are many economic processes deployed by companies with a complex activity that can be optimized, among the most common being: supply, production/service, distribution, sales, suppliers/customers relationships, inventory management, human resources management, financial management, etc. After the deployment of business processes related data is obtained. The analysis of the related data must be the starting point in any attempt to optimize the economic processes because this data best reflects the actual situation of the company. In order to carry out such an analysis, several approaches have emerged to extract knowledge from the data accumulated. The first solution is to use specific software to analyze the available data. Another solution that can be successfully used is the implementation of data mining techniques within the database management software available supposing it is a new generation one

The National Export Strategy 2010-2014, a realistic alternative for the attenuation of the crisis effects

    Get PDF
The Romanian economy is passing an economic recession period induced both by the persistence of the global financial crisis and the alarming evolution of the budget deficit and the consequences of the austerity measures upon the economic environment. In the actual conditions, Romania’s external creditors ascertain and impose certain limits for the budget expenses, necessary for a financially stable economy. The imposed limitation or self-limitation of the expenses for a 6 months sacrifice period, that could reach one year or longer, does not guarantee the economic re-bounce when the measurements for the strategic attenuation of the crisis, for the creation of a sustainable and competitive economy, are inexistent. Certain long term strategic aspects to which the external creditors, especially the IMF do not pay enough attention, but that can assure the sustainability and competitiveness belong to the internal component of the business environment and climate, to the ways to fight corruption, bureaucracy, tax evasion or they assure legislative predictability in order to support a transparent and competitive environment and the development of a new managerial culture. Others belong to the manner in which we will manage to assure national solidarity through justice, social or medical assistance or the influence of the politic aspect on the economy, on the administration in the other spheres of the social and economic life. These depend mostly on how the political sphere will manage to reform itself. Others belong to the educational reformation and the growth of the educational services suppliers’ capacity or to the research to sustain the companies’ competitiveness.
