Abstract The aim of this study is to examine the effect of 10-week educational games applied to preschool children on anthropometric and fundamental motor skill development. The sample of the research consisted of a total of 48 children aged 5–6 who attended a private kindergarten. Anthropometric characteristics of the children and measurements related to performance tests, including height, body weight, BMI, chest circumference, waist circumference, and hip circumference, were taken. To measure performance characteristics, sit and reach, horizontal jump, vertical jump, and 10-meter sprint measurements were collected both as pre-tests before the 10-week educational games training and as post-tests after the 10-week educational games training. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Descriptive statistics, including means and standard deviations (SD), were calculated for the children's descriptive information. T-tests were applied to the anthropometric measurements before and after the 10-week educational game training. As a result, no significant difference was found between the performance test results of boys and girls. The anthropometric test results of the participants included in the study indicated a significant difference between the pre- and post-test measurements within groups and between groups. When the results of this study were compared with the results of other studies in the literature, the similarities and differences could be explained by factors such as genetics, nutrition, hormones, regional differences, training practices, muscle mass, warm-up, step frequency, physical activity level, psychological condition, differences in talent selection, accuracy of measurements (times, distances, etc.), calibration settings of the test device, temperature, elevation, environment, humidity, psychological condition, and training quality. Full text link
This research was conducted to examine academicians' perceptions of informatics leadership in three private universities located in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by using the Informatics Leadership Scale developed by Ulutaş & Arslan (2018). The study aimed to investigate whether factors such as participants' gender, affiliated university, academic title, administrative experience, and field of education had an impact on the perceptions of administrators' informatics leadership. Findings reveal that none of these factors had a significant impact. However, there was a significant difference in the Information sub-dimension of the scale between academicians with 1-5 years of teaching experience and those with 6-10 years of teaching experience. Likewise, there was a significant difference in the Information sub-dimension of the scale between participants with administrative duties as Dean and Vice-Dean compared to those with no administrative duties. Overall, it was found that the participants' perception of informatics leadership was at a mid-level in all sub-dimensions and for the scale's total score. This possibly mean that there is a need for improvement in the quality of informatics leadership provided by the participants. The findings of this study may be useful for administrators and policymakers in improving the quality of informatics leadership in higher education institutions.&nbsp

ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to explain the relationship between Foundation Phase learners’ behaviour and academic performance at school to climate change. The research followed a qualitative case study and used convenience sample which identified three schools in Graaff-Reinet and collected the needed data from one Grade 3 teacher from each school. In addition to have conducted a literature review and read through various articles, data was collected by means of face to face interviews, non-participant observations and data analysis. A codebook thematic analysis was used to analysis the data that was collected. The study found that when there was extreme heat, learners struggled to stay focused and were talkative and restless. Furthermore, it found that when it was extremely cold, learners were restless and struggled to keep their concentration levels up. Therefore, we can conclude that the effects of climate change had a negative impact on the learners’ behaviour and academic performance. The study recommended that teachers need to increase their knowledge about the different patterns that learners portray when there is extreme weather conditions and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly

AN INVESTIGATION OF TEACHERS' SELF-SABOTAGE LEVELS

This study aims to determine the level of self-sabotage of teachers working in educational institutions and whether this level is affected by demographic variables. For this purpose, the Survey Model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The population of the study consists of teachers working in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts of Malatya province in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research was conducted with 151 teachers selected from the population by Stratified Sampling method. The Self-Sabotage Scale developed by Jones and Rhodewalt (1982) and adapted into Turkish by Akın, Abacı, and Akın (2011) and the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher were used to determine the self-sabotage levels of teachers. Since the data were normally distributed, parametric tests (Independent Groups T-Test and One Way ANOVA) were preferred. In cases where the number of people in the sub-sample groups fell below 30, non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis H Test) were used. As a result of the study, it was determined that teachers showed a partially low level of self-sabotage tendency. A significant difference was found between self-sabotage and demographic variables such as gender, district of employment, school type, professional seniority, and length of service at school. On the basis of these findings, it is concluded that from childhood onwards, experiencing failure is not a threat, but a normal outcome and a way to improve oneself. Based on these findings, it is thought that perceiving failure as a normal outcome and an opportunity for self-improvement rather than a threat, and developing a positive and accepting perspective towards the self from childhood can reduce the need to resort to self-sabotage tendencies
