The study investigated the impact of the flipped classroom on the second semester students in accounting class. Participants (n=50) were assigned to a control group (using traditional instruction) or an experimental group (using flipped classroom model). A quasi-experiment in reading comprehension course on the second semester in academic year 2021-2022 was used. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk test were .083 and .156 for pre-test control group, .200 and .787 for post-test control group, .119 and .185 for pre-test experimental group, and .095 and .101 for post-test experimental group suggesting normal distributions (p>.05). Homogeneity tests based on mean, median, median and with adjusted df, and trimmed mean were .857, .827, .827, and .857 indicating that Homogeneity tests were >.05. Pre-test scores of both groups compared by using independent t-test revealed no significant difference between these groups (.505>.05), while post-test scores of both groups showed significant difference (.000<.05). ANCOVA was conducted to see an interaction between the treatment and the post-test scores in which F=38.642, p<.05 means that the experimental group outperformed the control group. Likert Scale Questionnaire revealed that the students were highly satisfied with the flipped classroom. This also confirmed the difference between the control and experimental groups

USING A CROSSING METHOD AS AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH FOR TEACHING SYSTEMS OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

This paper presents an alternative approach of teaching systems of two linear equations to the students in Tanzanian ordinary secondary schools. I conducted a desk-based research on methods that have been used by in-service mathematics teachers for teaching systems of two linear equations in ordinary secondary schools.  It was found that five common methods (substitution, elimination, graphical, inverse matrix, Cramer’s rule) have been used for teaching a system of two linear equations and all methods yield the same answer regardless of having different ways of approaching the system. I realized that a crossing method (alternative approach) is not found in the literature and yet not used by teachers for teaching students a system of two linear equations. But this crossing method yields similar answers with that resulted when using the five common methods. I present this alternative method in this paper by comparing with the answers obtained using five methods while focusing on two systems of two linear equations. This new approach has implications in teaching, learning and solving systems of two linear equations in ordinary secondary schools, including mathematics teachers and educators can use this method for teaching students in solving systems of two linear equations

The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of 12-weeks complex and contrast training applied to soccer players on selected physical Characteristics. A total of 23 university students playing soccer in the university team participated in the study voluntarily. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups; complex (CPX) and contrast (CNT) training protocols. During 12-weeks, CPX and CNT training groups performed strength training in addition to soccer training 2 days a week, over 7 hours (4-5 units). On the first day, one repetition maximum (1RM) strength tests (back squat, calf, and leg extension) of all subjects were measured respectively. On the second day, all athletes’ height, body weight, body fat ratio, (20m) sprint, vertical jump and agility performance tests were measured at the beginning and end of the 12-weeks study.  As a result of the analysis of the data, a statistically significant difference was found in the values of the first and last measurements (1RM test) (back squat, calf and leg extension) between the groups of the CPX strength training group subjects and CNT strength training group (p< .05). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in speed (20m), vertical jump, agility and smash dive performance tests (p > .05). Although these results are not thought to be conclusive yet, there may be important information for coaches, especially during the training prescription and physical performance control of football players

Musicogram is described as a graphical record of musical works and is one of visual music teaching tools developed by Jos Wuytack on the theory of active music listening, and designed particularly for children who do not have knowledge of musical notes. Musicograms are widely used in many countries and has been frequently addressed in the international scientific studies recently; however, there is a limited number of academic studies in Turkey on musicograms, yet there are applied studies on the use of these visual schemes in music teaching. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the musicogram applications in Türkiye within a certain theoretical framework. In this scope, musicogram studies and application examples with various names in different languages were reached through a web survey. In this way, the most popular names given to the musicogram applications in Türkiye were detected and a total of 227 musicogram applications that were uploaded to the Turkish pages on YouTube platform between the years 2000-2022 were chosen as sample. The musicogram applications were discussed in terms of various elements of music (such as melody, rhythm, tempo, expression, etc.) by means of document review, and were evaluated in line with Wuytack’s active music learning approach. The findings indicated that it is necessary to increase the number of studies in order to ensure recognition of musicogram and similar methods, techniques, and materials, which express visual presentation of music not only by the music educators, but also by preschool teachers and class teachers in Türkiye, and in order to conduct correct applications.Müzik eserlerinin grafiksel bir kaydı olarak tanımlanan müzikogramlar, Jos Wuytack’ın aktif müzik dinleme teorisi üzerine geliştirdiği ve özellikle nota bilgisi olmayan çocuklar ve gençler için tasarladığı görsel müzik öğretim araçlarından biridir.
