    The Economic Contribution to Sustainable Tourism Development in Badung Regency - Bali

    Sustainable tourism has achieved the status of being the superior goal in Badung Regency government tourism policy, and is attaining much attention in the national scientific and political discourse on tourism. Tourism is a tool that has been widely used around the world for the purpose of intensifying the economic aspects of the local community. Badung is supportive of this tool. The main objective of this paper is to unveil the potential economic benefits that can be offered by the tourism and its related activities to progressive community in Badung-Bali. Data were collected through document analyses. The qualitative studies concluded that tourism can be the impetus for sustainable development for Badung community. The benefits include enhancing their social empowerment system, strengthening their social ties and developing their social skills and relationships, increasing the income of local community, diversifying and intensifying the economic activities, providing job opportunities and alleviation of poverty. Thus, tourism has the potential to raise the consciousness of the selected community regarding sustainable development

    Tourism and hospitality research: Supporting a shift to holistic, situated and multiple world-views research agendas

    In order to forge ahead within global and glocal contexts of challenging growth, tourism and hospitality research needs to shift from a reliance on limited dimensional, objective and western-centric research to holistic, situated and multiple worlds-focused research endeavors. Such a shift would embrace the development of multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary research teams and serve to reconnect tourism and hospitality research to broader growth related global, environmental, cultural and societal issues. While the beginning decades of the twenty-first century have been punctuated with a growing number of researchers who are attempting to advance such a shift; more needs to be done. Researchers regardless of their experience need to become more familiar with, appreciative of and engage with the various theoretical paradigms, methodologies and methods that inform research.  Further, to support the development of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams, intrapersonal and interpersonal researcher abilities and capabilities need honing and refining in conjunction with development of personal knowledge and skill sets of researchers regarding team roles, cross-cultural communication, power and politics.  Relatedly, the education of future tourism and hospitality researchers also needs to involve the development of similar knowledge, skills, and competencies

    Tourism Object Benchmarking : Borobudur Temple And Historic City of Ayyuthaya

    As the largest Buddhist temple, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries which is located in central Java, Borobudur Temple has been the heart of Indonesia’s Tourism. In order to improve the number of incoming tourists which can give economic benefits to local communities, researcher will do benchmarking. Benchmarking is recognized as an essential tool for continuous improvement of quality. Essentially, benchmarking provides a snapshot of the performance of your business and helps you understand where you are in relation to a particular standard. As the largest Buddhist Temple which located in ASEAN, a perfect benchmark to Borobudur Temple is Historic City of Ayyuthaya which famous as of the largest Hindu Temple located in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Thailand. This research. The questionnaire includes information on a range of performance indicators based around economic indicators, satisfaction indicators, sustainability indicators, and organizational indicators. Researcher distributed closed questionnaires, for the total sampling was 100 Indonesian who live in Thailand, who have been visited both Borobudur Temple and Historic City of Ayyuthaya.  An accidental sampling was used to select the respondent surveyed for this study, and directly ask respondents to fill up the questionnaire through online media. Information obtained in this research has the ability to local authorities in better serving their visitors based on their economic, satisfaction, environmental, community and social background in order to be better in giving the needed service which may influence the number of incoming tourism to Borobudur Temple and Historic City of Ayyuthaya

    Positioning Eco-Tourism Objects for Improving Image of Bali Indonesia as An International Tourist Destination

    Ecotourism objects in this study include: (1) Bali Marine Park, (2) Bali Elephant Safari Park, (3) Bali Barat (West Bali) National Park, (4) Bali Butterfly Park, (5) Bali Reptile Park, (6) Sangeh Monkey Forest, (7) Ubud Botanic Garden, dan (8) Bali Botanic Garden based on the attributes of “facility, attractiveness, accessibility, and service”. This study utilized quantitative method, specifically exploratory research method and conclusive research method based on previous research and existing theories, in order to achieve the research objectives with the goal to generate new findings.  Based on multidimensional scaling analysis, the perception of Bali Botanic Garden is similar to that of Sangeh Monkey Forest and Bali Barat National Park. While not in the same category as Bali Botanic Garden, the similarity coordinate of Ubud Botanic Garden is so close that it is a considerable competitor to Bali Botanic Garden. The ecotourism objects perceived to have similarities are Bali Butterfly Park and Ubud Botanic Garden. Another grouping based on similarity are Bali Marine Park and Bali Elephant Safari Park, whose similarity coordinates are quite distant from the other ecotourism objects.

    Effect of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation on Employee Productivity: Case of Le Grande Hotel Pecatu

    This study aimed to determine the effect of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on employeeproductivity at Le Grande Hotel Pecatu. The independent variables studied were Intrinsic Motivation (X1) and Extrinsic Motivation (X2) with the dependent variable is the Work Productivity (Y). Data sampling used questionnaires to 120 respondents, while sampling used simple random sampling method. The tests used to test the research instrument are in the form of test validity and reliability testing. Hypothesis testing used the F test and t test. The results showed that multiple regression analysis based on the results obtained by the equation: Y = 2,112 + 0,340X1 + 0,418X2. Based on the results of the most dominant variable affecting the Work Productivity Extrinsic motivation is variable with a regression coefficient of 0.418. Hypothesis testing using the F test and t test showed that simultaneous or partially intrinsic and extrinsic motivation have significant effect on employee productivity at Hotel Le Grande

    This research has a specific purpose: (i) determine the potential of coastal area can be developed as a tourism product, (ii) Knowing constraints are faced in developing the tourism potential, and (iii) determine strategies that can be used in developing the tourism potential of the coast as a creative tourism products Yeh Gangga Beach, Sudimara village, Tabanan Bali. The general objective to be achieved is to improve the performance of the tourism sector in the welfare of society Tabanan through sustainable tourism development by developing creative potential.. The research found that (i) Yeh Gangga Beach has some potential creativity attraction, such as : art market, handycraft,video and photography, music and art performance, scenery, and accomodation; (ii) The main problems encountered are (i)Most strategic land has been switched ownership to investors. The strategy should be applied is (i) Maintain Yeh Gangga Beach as tourist attraction developed Tabanan through local regulations, (ii) increasing public awareness of tourism. The implications are (i) theoretically enriching literature of sustainability in tourism coastal area, (ii)practically could enhance the government to develop coastal tourism in Tabanan Bali

    The importance of mastering foreign languages in developing hospitality and tourism industries

    This study aims at offering some thoughts that cultural differences influence a great deal in hospitality and tourism industries. In Indonesia English is a second language whereby occupational background in the past still dominates our language structure. Indonesia was occupied by the Dutch for 3 and half decades then by the Japanese for 3 and half years. Lacking of vocabulary items, Indonesian Language still use foreign languages such those borrowed from Dutch, English, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic.Cultural differences also influences Indonesian way of using the English expressions at hospitality industries. Mastering foreign languages is very important in developing hospitality industries in Indonesia. The main findings of my research are : those motivated students learn foreign languages better, those having good learning strategies master foreign languages better, and those mastering foreign languages work successfully at hospitality and tourism industries

    Analysis of Travel Experience Quality at City Destinations

    Bandung is one of the many destinations which could be categorised as urban tourism or urban travel destinations. These destinations have different characteristics compared to other types destinations, therefore the experience gained by tourists during visits would be different. This study aims to create a means of measuring the quality of the tourist experience viewed from three phases of travel experience, namely pre-travel phase measured by information search construct, planning, decision making; experiential phase, measured with product attributes, interaction and involvement constructs; and Recollection phase, measured by these constructs: meaning, satisfaction, storing, sharing, and Recollection. The research method is descriptive and verification using factor analysis data analysis techniques. Data were obtained through interviews and questionnaires to tourists who visit the city of Bandung as many as 200 people. The results showed that the proposed model is valid and reliable for measuring the travel experience
