Use of systems with artificial intelligence for military purposes
Development prospects for the armies of the leading countries are currently mostly associated with digitization, robotization, and automation of manpower and equipment management. The introduction of such kind of systems, however, requires the collection and processing of a huge amount of heterogeneous poorly structured information, as well as the making of operational decisions in the conditions of a high level of uncertainty in the security environment. A problem arises with finding tools that could replace humans in solving such problems. An impetus in this direction is given by the development and introduction in the military sphere of systems with artificial intelligence /AI/
Advantages and disadvantages of robotic-assisted urologic surgery vs. laparoscopic surgery in the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on healthcare worldwide. The implementation of social distancing measures has led to the adoption of innovative techniques to minimize hospitalization time and the contact between patients and medical staff in order to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Minimally invasive urology is becoming increasingly popular, and laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries are among the most commonly used techniques. Their safety, however, has been questioned throughout the pandemic due to the potential risk of infection transmission during surgical procedures. This review article aims to assess the advantages, disadvantages, and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery in hospital urology practice
Application of thoracoscopic surgery in patients with pleural empyema
A retrospective analysis of the video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery performed on 46 patients at a mean age of 49.61 ± 18.96 years with pleural empyema during the period between January 1, 2016 and November 30, 2022 in the Clinic of Thoracic Surgery at the Department of Surgery and in the Department of General and Operative Surgery of the Medical University of Varna was carried out. The patient group consisted of 35 males at a mean age of 48.00 ± 18.88 years and 11 females at a mean age of 54.73 ± 20.25 years. A right or a left stage II pleural empyema without bronchopulmonary fistula was diagnosed in 22 males and in two females, a right or a left stage II pleural empyema stage with fistula—in seven males and in four females, a right or a left stage III pleural empyema without fistula—in five males and in two females, a right or a left stage III pleural empyema with fistula—in one male and in two females, while a stage II bilateral pleural empyema without fistula was found out in one female patient. The video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery was performed along with debridement, decortication, lavage, and drainage in all the patients. The postoperative period was uneventful and the duration of postoperative drainage and hospital stay was short. There were no postoperative complications and perioperative lethality. Based on the very good results obtained from the use of the video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in pleural empyema patients, a broader application of this contemporary method in Bulgarian practice could be recommended.
Femoral neck fracture in geriatric patients and the need for rehabilitation after hemiarthroplasty

Influence Of Modern Problems In The Organization Of Nursing Activities On The Quality Of Health Care
Nurses have a key role in providing comprehensive and accessible health care. In their practice, guided by charity and dedication, they put health and saving lives above all else. With the competent work of each nurse, the healthcare system is built to meet the health needs of the population. Objective: Based on the opinion expressed by nurses and health care users, to outline the problems in the implementation of health care, as well as to analyze the impact they have on their quality.Materials and methods: Documentary method - research of medical literature, documentation and normative documents on the subject; Sociological method - self-developed survey card for the study of public opinion; Statistical methods for data analysis and interpretation with a view to revealing the observed phenomena and their interdependencies. The study was conducted in the period 2019-2020.Results and discussion:The largest part of the surveyed nurses identified the low pay in the structure and the insufficient number of specialists as the main problems (85%). A large share indicated the outdated legal framework as the reason for poor organization of the work process (37.5%). Part of the respondents indicated stress at the workplace (27.5%) and bad management (15%) as the reason for the poor functioning of the structure. A large part of health care consumers define the nurse as a specialist with good professional training (75.98%), while a small part share that it is necessary to improve the nurse's communication skills (11.35%)
Competencies Of The Midwife To Overcome The Reasons For Delaying Parenthood Teodora Yordanova, Teodora Evtimova
Introduction: The trend towards realizing motherhood at a later stage of a woman's life is constantly increasing. However, the later the planning of pregnancy and childbirth begins, the more likely it is not to be carried out. In this regard, the midwife is the health specialist who has a key role in the prevention of reproductive health and overcoming the causes of late parenthood. Counseling families with reproductive problems, in turn, requires the creation of clear standards, according to the midwife's competencies. They are of particular importance to the successful operation of this level of preventive services. Objective: To determine whether the midwife has the competencies to overcome the reasons for delaying parenthood among men and women of childbearing age.Materials and methods: An anonymous survey was conducted among 405 respondents: obstetricians and gynecologists, embryologists, senior and line nurses, midwives and patients. Reproductive medicine centers, maternity wards and pathological pregnancy wards are covered. Results and discussion: In the analysis of the obtained results, we found that, according to the doctors, the midwife's role in overcoming the reasons for postponing parenthood is mainly to be a consultant to the woman on the issues of pregnancy and childbirth (40%) and conducting health education (40%). A relatively smaller part of them believe that midwives could be useful in this direction by implementing reproductive health prevention (20%).Conclusions: The midwife's competences are highly appreciated by the experts and her activity is defined as significant in various directions (health education, consultant on pregnancy and childbirth issues, as well as reproductive health prevention). The legal arrangement for financing and valuation of midwifery activities will help to realize the midwife's autonomous activity. This, in turn, is a predictor that the midwife is not only a performer of manipulative activities, but a health specialist with a high contribution to the protection of reproductive health and increasing the health education of the population
SAFETY AND HEALTH OF STUDENTS DURING THEIR TRAINING AT THE HIGHER MEDICAL
The scientific communication presents the essence of the concepts "safety" and "health". The risks of the modern educational environment for the health condition of the students-specialists in health care are considered. The measures and actions that must be taken to prevent and overcome the negative effects of modern training on the health of future health care professionals, as well as ensuring safe conditions for their practical training in a real hospital environment are presented. The main concepts related to the assessment of the risks for health and safety in the process of education in the higher medical school are considered. Leading are the conditions of promotion and prevention for student health
