Intellectual Property Rights Protection and FDI: Some Correlational Evidence
In this study, we contribute to the existing literature on the FDI by exploring the effect of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection on economic growth. Using data for 120 countries for the period of 2010-2015 we find that IPR index is non-linearly associated with the FDI. For example, in countries with low levels of IPR protection, increase in IPR is associated with more FDI. However, in countries with established IPR protection further strengthening of IPR discourages investment. This model explains nearly 17% of cross-country variations in FDI

Study of Transport of Nanoparticles with Power Law fluid Model for Blood Rheology in Capillaries
The present paper deals with a mathematical model for blood flow through an axially symmetric blood capillary with peripheral layer and slip at the wall. The longitudinal transport of nanoparticles in blood vessels has been analyzed with blood as a power law fluid in a central core region of suspension of all the erythrocytes and a Newtonian fluid in a peripheral layer of plasma. In present analysis, the capillary walls are impermeable and not absorbent for the nanoparticles. The expressions for velocity profile, flow rate, mean velocity and concentration of the solute have been obtained and results have been discussed through graphs

An Assessment of the Family Asteraceae at Shadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha District, Bangladesh with Particular Reference to Medicinal Plants
An assessment of the family Asteraceae at Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha district, Bangladesh was carried out from August 2014 to October 2015. A total of 32 species under 27 genera belonging to the family Asteraceae were collected and identified. Frequent field trips were made during August 2014 to October 2015 to record medicinal information by interviewing local people of various age groups, mostly ranging between 18 to 67 years, including medicinal healers (herbalists/hakims). A total of 28 plant species under 24 genera of the family Asteraceae have been documented which are used for the treatment of 57 diseases/illness. In majority cases, leaves of the medicinal plants were found leading in terms of their use followed by whole plant, stem, bark, flower, seed and root. For each species scientific name, local name, chromosome number, voucher number, ailments to be treated and part(s) used are provided.
Path Optimization and Object Localization Using Hybrid Particle Swarm and Ant Colony Optimization for Mobile RFID Reader
This paper proposes a hybrid approach of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) for the mobile Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) reader to get the shortest path for object localization. In this approach, we have adopted the ACO global pheromone updating information of ants to guide the update velocities and position for PSO based on nearest neighbor constraints. The pheromone information is used efficiently to guide the selection of each particle in a search space of its visits. The best path will be used for mobile RFID reader for objects localization in search space. Simulation results show that the method is effective, minimizing the number of visited nodes for a mobile RFID reader
Effective Capacity Analysis for Cognitive Networks under QoS Satisfaction
Spectrum sensing and dynamic spectrum access (DSA) techniques in cognitive radio networks (CRN) have been extensively investigated since last decade. Recently, satisfaction of quality-of-service (QoS) demands for secondary users (SU) has attracted great attention. The SU can not only discover the transmission opportunities, but also cognitively adapts the dynamic spectrum access strategies to its own QoS requirement and the environment variations. In this paper, we study how the delay QoS requirement affects the strategy on network performance. We first treat the delay-QoS in interference constrained cognitive radio network by applying the effective capacity concept, focusing on the two dominant DSA schemes: underlay and overlay. We obtain the effective capacity of the secondary network and determine the power allocation policies that maximize the throughput of the cognitive user. The underlay and overlay approaches may have their respective advantages under diverse propagation environment and system parameters. If the cognitive network can dynamically choose the DSA strategy under different environment, its performance could be further improved. We propose a selection criterion to determine whether to use underlay or overlay scheme under the given QoS constraint and the PUs’ spectrum-occupancy probability. Thus, the throughput of the CRN could be increased. Performance analysis and numerical evaluations are provided to demonstrate the effective capacity of CRN based on the underlay and the overlay schemes, taking into consideration the impact of delay QoS requirement and other related parameters
