The synthesis of methyl esters from rubber seed oil (Hevea brasiliensis) as biodiesel, using fruit bintaro ash utilization as a source of base catalysts in the transesterification reaction has been conducted. The determination of the base content in the fruit ash bintaro have been researched with alkalinity titration and K ion content determinated with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Base catalyst were obtained ash bintaro fruit mixed in methanol and used for the transesterification of rubber seed oil. Produce of biodiesel used with ash bintaro fruit weight of variety was 4-8 % (w/w). The fatty acid composition of rubber seed oil from transesterification results determined by using GC-MS, whereas some physical properties of biodiesel determined to know the quality of biodiesel. The results of research shows the of potassium contents in the form of potassium carbonate in ash bintaro fruit are 31.75% (w/w) and conversion of biodiesel obtained from each catalyst are 65.2; 66.6; 73.6; 69.8; and 69.2% (w / w) respectively. Data analiysis GC-MS dominant of fatty acids in the biodiesel contents are metil linoleatewith amount was 42.57%

UJI TOKSISITAS AKUT EKSTRAK ETANOL BUAH LAKUM (Cayratia tryfolia) TERHADAP LARVA Artemia salina Leach DENGAN METODE BRINE SHRIMP LETHALITY TEST (BSLT)

Lakum fruit use as spices could be hint for one of traditional herbal plant which using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method in toxicity test. From the method, it will be know acute toxicity potential on lakum fruit’s extract against Artemia salina Leach larvae. This research was an experimental research using Post Test Only Control Group Design. It is used 160 larvaes as test animal which is divided on 4 groups, each group is done by the replication of research for 3 times and one control for each group. The various of concentration is 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 800 ppm, and 1600 ppm. The result is against larvae that died 24 hours after component test was given. Through the data, LC 50 value of ethanol extract of lakum fruit was analyzed by linear regression. Bassed on the researched, the value of LC 50 of ethanol extract of lakum fruit is172.38 μg/ml. The value of LC 50 is less than 1000 ppm. It’s mean that the extract had acute toxicity potential against Artemia salina Leach larvae

PENGARUH BERAT DAN WAKTU KONTAK UNTUK ADSORPSI TIMBAL(II) OLEH ADSORBEN DARI KULIT BATANG JAMBU BIJI (Psidium guajava L.)

Research about influence of weight and contact times of to adsorb lead(II) by adsorbent from bark of guava has been done. The research was varied by series of adsorbent weight 0.5; 1.0; 1,5; 2.0; 2.5; and 3.0 gram and the contact time 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes. Concentration of lead(II) in sample is measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The result showed that optimum contact time is 90 minutes. It was also found that higher adsorbent weight will increase the total amount of adsorbed lead(II).Keywords: Adsorption, lead(II), bark, guav

The Isolation of phenolic compound in methanol-water fraction from Myrmecodia tuberosa Jack that come from Bulungan have been done. The air-dried powdered from corm of ant plant (Myrmecodia tuberosa Jack) (250 gram) were extracted by methanol at room temperature      (27 oC) and fractioned with n-hexane then ethyl acetate. Partition of phenolic compounds in Methanol-Water fraction was chromatographed on silica gel column (35–70 mesh) that eluted with Isocratic method and gave 10 fractions as a result, that fractions were A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I dan J fraction. C; E; G and H (alliance fraction) gave the best spot partitioned and the spot was not fluorescence. Purification of alliance fraction gave yellow-brown crystal with retention factor 0.52 that eluted with methanol : ethyl acetat (8:2) whereas the retention factor in methanol 0.82 and ethyl acetate 0,33. Infrared spectrum of alliance fraction shown absorption at value : 3351.83; 2945.33; 2833.04; 1741.00; 1451.60; 1215.67; 885.74 and 776.74 cm-1 with melting point 224 - 228oC. UV and Visible spectrum of alliance fraction shown wavelength at value 263 and 334 nm. Phenolic compounds in Methanol-Water fraction from the corm of ant plant (Myrmecodia tuberosa Jack) was predictioned as phenolic compound of flavonoid group. Keywords : Ant Plant (Myrmecodia tuberosa Jack), Phenolic, Isocratic , Flavonoid, Isolation
