The University of Chicago Dermatology conducts research focused on the dermatological manifestations of various systemic and genetic disorders. The focus of the internship project evolved over time and included literature review, clinical image cataloging, and collaborative analysis with researchers. Over the course of several months, the internship provided the opportunity to Study a wide range of skin conditions, analyze clinical photographs, and contribute to ongoing research into dermatological presentations. The project\u27s primary outcome included a comprehensive compilation and study of dermatologic manifestations, this is designed as a reference for clinicians and researchers. This helps support ongoing academic research and aids researchers as an educational resource to help in the identification and understanding of dermatologic conditions
Data Science to Analyze TLE Data and Orbital Predictions
Two-line Element (TLE) data is used to determine the position of an Object currently orbiting the earth, such as satellites, at any given time. The understanding of these movements plays a big role in navigation, communication, and enhancing aerospace research. However, natural factors such as space weather impact the accuracy of these movements, yet often not fully considered. This project analyzes these movements and visualizes them, using tools for parsing, analyzing, processing, and predicting the data. Over the course of the project, Skyfield, NumPy, and Pandas were utilized to handle processing and computations. Space weather data was then integrated using APIs in order to factor them into the predictive aspects and various visualization tools were used to create graphs that can be easily interpreted. A web-based platform was developed, allowing users to visualize any TLE data interactively, contributing to improved predictive accuracy and a deeper understanding of orbital dynamics and the influence of space weather

The Current Landscape of Computer Science Education in Illinois: Challenges and Opportunities for Growth
This session provides an overview of computer science education in Illinois across K-12 and higher education, highlighting recent progress, persistent challenges, and growth opportunities. Drawing from recent research, participants will explore critical data points about access, participation, and outcomes in Coeducation, as well as gain an understanding of enrollment trends, equity gaps, and successfully implemented support strategies. The session will conclude with actionable recommendations for improving education throughout Illinois
Reflections on Light: Exploring Geometrical Optics with Precalculus Tools
In this session, the presenter will discuss the mathematical modeling of reflection and refraction of light as an engaging and accessible application of several concepts from precalculus. By presenting this topic with a greater emphasis on the underlying mathematics, students of physical science can make deeper connections with their mathematics coursework. The presenter will share a lesson appropriate for Algebra 2 or precalculus that integrates Desmos and PhET simulations and discuss differentiation opportunities. Attendees should bring a laptop to access the simulations
