    Father's involvement in the success of exclusive breastfeeding

    Breastfeeding is to be the best food that babies should eat because it contains all the nutritional elements needed for growth and development. The role of the father is a factor, one of which can affect the practice of breastfeeding where the role of the father can make the mother feel cared for, calm and this can facilitate milk production. This study aims to see the relationship between the factors of breastfeeding fathers on the practice of breastfeeding. Cross-sectional is a design used in this study which has a sample of 78 fathers who have toddlers taken by random sampling in the Mandonga District, the data obtained were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between father's knowledge and breastfeeding practice (p= 0,014), attitude variable and breastfeeding practice (p= 0,000) and there was no relationship between father's role and breastfeeding practice p= 0,485). In conclusion, the knowledge and attitudes of breastfeeding fathers are related to the practice of exclusive breastfeeding. There needs to be an increase in father's knowledge of breastfeeding practice support.

    In type 2 diabetes mellitus, the pancreas can produce the hormone insulin, but the body has difficulty using it. The study aimed to prove the effect of black rice bran extract on MDA, SOD, and triglyceride in type 2 Diabetic Mellitus rats. The method is quasi-experimental with a pre-posttest randomized control group design in 2021. The intervention was given for 21 days to 42 male Wistar rats. MDA examination using the TBARs method, SOD examination using a UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Triglyceride examination using a spectrophotometer. Statistical analysis used Paired T-Test or Wilcoxon test and One-Way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis test. Descriptive research findings show that the intervention of black rice bran extract at a dose of 60 mg/200g reduced MDA in rats to 2,21 mmol/ml and triglycerides to 85,17 mg/dL. In addition, it can increase SOD to 69,67 units/ml. Almost the same as the intervention of metformin 9 mg/200 g body weight. However, statistically, no significant difference exists in the interventions carried out (p> 0,05).     Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) are a plant that contains many multi-nutrients, especially Fe, folate, Ca, and phosphorus. Moringa leaves contain iron which is an essential element for forming hemoglobin. This study aims to determine the effect of giving Moringa leaf biscuits on the hemoglobin levels of anemic adolescent girls. This research is quantitative field research. This research was conducted at the Hufadzul Qur'an Al Asror Islamic Boarding School in Semarang in 2021 with a sample of 37 anemic adolescent girls. The sample used the total sampling method. Data were collected through interviews and 24-hour recall. Hb level examination through the Sahli method and BMI measurement based on weight and height. Statistical analysis was Paired sample t-test and Linear Regression test. The results showed that the average hemoglobin level of adolescent girls before the intervention was 10,8 g/dl, and the average hemoglobin level after the intervention was 12,9 g/dl. After the intervention, 33 respondents did not experience anemia, and four still had anemia. The respondents' average energy, protein, and iron intake was sufficient, with an energy intake of 2139 kcal/day, protein 63,1 g/day, and iron 23,1 mg/day. Statistical results showed a significant increase in hemoglobin levels before and after the intervention (p= 0,001). The conclusion is that giving Moringa leaf biscuits has an effect on the enhancement of hemoglobin levels of anemic adolescent girls

    Exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia reached 37,3%. The Covid-19 pandemic has threatened to reduce exclusive breastfeeding coverage, which will impact the quality of human resources in the future. This study aims to determine the incidence rate of exclusive breastfeeding failure during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cohort study for nine months. In a fishing village, namely Dadap Village, Juntinyuat, Indramayu, West Java 2020. The population is all babies born during the study period, obtained 58 babies. Risk factor data were collected through interviews with questionnaires through home visits. Home visits were conducted six times during the observation period. The analysis was conducted by calculating the incidence rate using the formula for the number of cases of infants failing exclusive breastfeeding divided by the total number of live births during the observation period. The results showed that the incidence rate of exclusive breastfeeding failure in Dadap Village was 96,6 per 100 live births. Complementary feeding was given in formula milk in the first week (84,5%), even 79,3% of it after birth. Mothers and husbands do not know about exclusive breastfeeding (75,9%). The mother took the initiative to provide early complementary feeding with the support of her husband (63,8%). Mothers experience problems in breastfeeding (87,9%), and mothers cannot cope with the problem. In conclusion, the causes of exclusive breastfeeding failure in fishing villages are low income, low maternal education and knowledge, and lack of husband support

    Background: BPOM data for 2020 shows that there are snacks that use unsafe Food Additives (BTP), such as borax, formalin and Rodhamin B circulating in the community which can cause health problems such as kidney and liver failure and are carcinogenic. Identification of BTP content in the new normal era after the Covid-19 pandemic can help detect snacks that are dangerous and safe so that they can become preventive materials for the community.Objectives: analyzing the content of borax, formalin and rhodamine B in snacks.Methods: the design in this research is experimental. Tests for the content of borax, formalin and rhodamine B were carried out at the Chemistry Laboratory of the Suherman Medika University. The sampling technique was simple random sampling with the criteria of food and beverages that were purchased by many students so that 12 samples of snack foods and 3 samples of drinks were obtained. Data collection was carried out in November 2022. Qualitatively test the content of borax, formalin and rhodamine B using the brand testkid.id. Data analysis was carried out univariately, namely the percentage of food content containing borax, formalin and rhodamine B.Results: a total of 9 food samples (75%) contained borax and 7 samples contained formalin (58.33%) in snacks around the Suherman Medika University. The beverage samples showed that none contained the coloring agent rhodamine B. The types of food containing borax and formalin in this study were somay and cilok.Conclusion: there are snacks that contain borax which is marked by a brownish-red color change on curcumin paper, and formalin which is marked by a purple color change in the sample while rhodamine B is not found in drinks that are of interest to students

    Utilizing Android-based Information Communication Technology (ICT) is pivotal in the healthcare sector for monitoring the growth, development, and assessment of nutritional status and ensuring enhanced data quality for toddlers. The adherence to ISO/IEC 25010 standards is imperative in developing high-quality applications like "PSG Balita." This study aimed to assess the impact of the "PSG Balita" Android application, which complies with the ISO/IEC 25010 standard, on the accuracy of nutritional status data for toddlers. In 2021, a quasi-experimental design research was conducted in Banda Aceh City, with the participation of 30 nutritionists from health facilities. The data were gathered by observations and interviews, utilizing a questionnaire that assessed the aspects of timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and usefulness. The intervention involved a one-month training session utilizing the "PSG Balita" software, which is consistent with the ISO/IEC 25010 standard. Data analysis utilizing repeated-measures ANOVA indicated that the "PSG Balita" application conformed to IEC standards, demonstrating a data quality score of 82,5. The intervention greatly improved the quality of data on the nutritional condition of children under the age of five (p < 0,05). In conclusion, the "PSG Balita" application, which is based on Android and adheres to ISO/IEC 25010 standards, can improve the precision of nutritional status data for toddlers, assessed in terms of timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and usefulness.Keywords

    The effect of soybean tempeh milk and soybean tempeh youghurt on fatigue after maximal excercise

    Studies report skeletal muscle fatigue during repeated intense muscle contractions resulting from depletion of energy substrates, and accumulation of metabolic. Creatine kinase (CK) and lactic acid are enzymes that are directly related to energy metabolism. This study aims to analyze the differences of soy tempeh milk and soy tempeh yogurt on fatigue indicators, namely CK levels and lactic acid in subjects induced by maximum exercise. The subjects of this study used experimental animals, namely white rats with a total sample of 28 rats. The dose of soy tempeh milk and soy tempeh yogurt given was 4,2 ml/BW of rats while the soy tempeh yogurt was given was 4,4 ml/BW, each containing 3 grams of tempeh. Blood samples were tested using the Elisa method and the results were analyzed using SPSS version 20. The results of this study showed significant changes in serum CK and lactic acid after being given the intervention of soy tempeh milk and tempeh yogurt (p<0,05). Soy tempeh milk and soybean tempeh yogurt significantly suppressed the increase in CK and lactic acid in rats induced by maximum exercise. Both provide protein containing BCAAs which are a source of energy during exercise. Further clinical trials are needed to determine the effectiveness, safety, and side effects of soy tempeh milk or soy tempeh yogurt when given to humans

    Quality nutrition, metal content, and health risks in soy milk products using aluminum and stainless steel cookers

    Improper processing of soymilk, such as soybean raw materials, use of well water, and use of cooking vessels, produces soymilk that does not meet SNI standards. These conditions can contaminate soymilk with harmful metals. The purpose of this study was to measure the nutritional quality and metal content of soymilk produced using aluminum and stainless steel cooking vessels. The research was descriptive and was conducted in July 2022. Analytical tests were carried out by comparing the nutritional content in the form of total protein, fat, lactose, and solid non-fat (SNF), and analyzing the heavy metal content. The results showed that the contents of Pb, Cu, and Hg in soy milk processed with stainless steel were lower than those of aluminum, from 11,494 ppm to 2,706 ppm, 114,612 ppm to 10,211 ppm, and 0,372 ppm to 0,012 ppm, respectively.  The contents of Zn and As in soymilk with stainless steel were higher than those treated with aluminum, from 884,585 ppm to 73,616 ppm and from 0,107 ppm to 0,079 ppm, respectively. Cooking water also contributed 0,055; 0,044; 0,028, and 0,156 ppm to the heavy metal content of Pb, Cu, Zn, Hg, and As, respectively. In conclusion, the use of stainless steel in soymilk processing resulted in better nutritional quality and lower heavy metal content compared to aluminum

    Background: The prevalence of fruit and vegetable consumption among school-aged children In Indonesia is approximately 96%. A lack of fruit and vegetable consumption can lead to a decreased immune system, increase the risk of constipation, cancer, and obesity, and reduce human resource productivity. Therefore, elementary school students' knowledge of nutrition, especially fruits and vegetables, needs to be improved by providing nutrition education on the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption.Objectives: To determine the effect of counseling using flip sheet media on increasing elementary school student’s knowledge of the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption in elementary school children.Methods: The research model used two stages. The first stage uses a media development design (R&D), and the second uses a quasi-experimental approach. The sample comprised of 44 participants. This research was conducted at SDN 62 in Banda Aceh, Lueng Bata District, Banda Aceh City. This study was conducted between April and May 2023. Data collection included primary and secondary data processed through editing, coding, processing, and cleaning. Data analysis was performed using a Dependent T-test at a 95% confidence interval (CI).Results: Counseling increased the children's knowledge of the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption (p= 0,006). The average knowledge of students before being given counseling using the flip sheet media was 64,55 + 8,19. Then, after being given counseling, the average value of knowledge increased to 96,02 + 4,39.Conclusion: Counseling using flip-sheet media affected children's knowledge of the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption

    Background: The incidence of stunting in toddlers can have a negative impact on the growth and development of toddlers in the future. The direct cause of stunting is inadequate food intake. There is a need for food formulations with high protein and calcium content in an effort to overcome stunting.Objectives: This research aims to analyze the effect of the substitution of local food ingredients, namely red beans and catfish, on the acceptability, nutritional content, and economic value of semprong as an alternative food supplement for toddlers.Methods: The type of research in formula development is true experimental with a completely randomized design. There are 3 (three) types of treatment (F0, F1, F2). The research sample was taken randomly or with random sampling. The analyzers used were 25 untrained panelists. Data collection uses a preference test questionnaire (hedonic). Data analysis used the Friedman and Wilcoxon test. Protein and calcium content were obtained from calculations and laboratory tests. The research was conducted at Posyandu Mawar, from February to May 2023.Results: The results of the research showed that there were significant differences in color (p= 0,007), aroma (p= 0,030), and texture (p= 0,04). However, there was no significant difference in taste characteristics (p = 0,050). From the results of the ranking of acceptability, nutritional content and economic value, the best formula was obtained F2 (7,79% substitution of red bean flour and 7,79% catfish flour). The nutritional content per 100 g of F2 formula meets protein and calcium requirements of at least 10% per day for toddlers. The economic value of the best formula is IDR 10,366 per 50 g.Conclusion: Semprong cake substitution of red bean flour and catfish flour can be recommended as an alternative food supplement for toddler
