Rights of female garments workers in Bangladesh: a case of Chittagong
This dissertation is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MA in Governance and Development, 2018.Cataloged from PDF version of dissertation report.Includes bibliographical references (page 46).The continuing exploitation of women workers in clothing factories across the world is a damning indictment of the global economic system. In Bangladesh, women workers account for 85% of the total workforce in the garment industry. While some have viewed this as a positive step towards female emancipation, the reality is that women are employed in a highly exploitative context. Women workers remain at the bottom of the supply chain, working long hours for poverty wages and denied basic maternity rights.
This study seeks to expose the current condition of female workers’ rights in the Bangladeshi garment industry especially in the Chittagong City’s various garments. The data has been collected from both primary and secondary sources. A simple questionnaire was used in the survey. The sample consisted of 120 women workers selected randomly form 7 different garment factories in Chittagong metropolitan area. SPSS and XL, different tabular form used to analysis the data in this study.
The results show that the female workers are mostly employed at the lower category of jobs like operator, finishing helper, polder etc. These jobs are very monotonous in nature. Because of the nature of their jobs, female workers sometimes lose interest in work and become depressed. A large number of female workers received low and irregular wages which create their job dissatisfaction. Female workers are sexually harassed by their co-workers in the factory or by police or by mastans (goons) in commuting to working factory. Communication is a major problem faced by most of the female garment workers. A long distance travel is not only physical strenuous but also mentally stressful. Their overtime rate is very low. Long working hours result in a number of illnesses, diseases and various health hazards. Women are exploited easily due to lack of technical knowledge, low education level and training. The study concludes with recommendations on what can be done to ensure enhanced respect for female workers’ rights in Bangladesh that will have positive impact into our national economy, the study hope.Amir Mohammad NasrullahM. Hope: national academy for autism and neuro-development disabilities
This thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Architecture, 2018.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (page 56).Autism in a mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by great difficulty in
communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract
concepts. People with Autism have to face several hardships throughout their lifetime. Even
though it is not a disease, but many of us still unable to understand that an autistic person is as
normal as us with just different way of communication. In Bangladesh, almost 10% of the total
population have disabilities. It is high time to realize that without the contribution and
participation of a large portion of our population, we cannot achieve what we want as a nation.
The idea of an awareness center is to develop more interaction between general people and the
people with autism. The academy will not only provide proper education to the special children
and adults, but also encouraging general people to know how autistic people deal with regular
activities. This project will bring the opportunity to produce more facilities to the people with
autism and help them to participate socially.Rukaiya Binte KarimB. Architectur
A Study on employee satisfaction of Bangla TRAC Communications LTD
This internship report is submitted in a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, 2018.Cataloged from PDF version of internship report.Includes bibliographical references (page 32).This paper was directed to me by my respected faculty for my BUS 400 (internship) course to get to know more about practical field experience about Employee Satisfaction and how it works in real workplace. Here, Employee Satisfaction of Bangla TRAC Communications LDT is the study field of this paper. Bangla TRAC Communications Limited, is a licensed International Gateway Service (IGW) providers in Bangladesh. It is a premium telecom service provider and was one of the first companies to get an IGW License making it a pioneer in this industry sector. This paper basically will give a clear understanding of the employee satisfaction of Bangla TRAC Communications LTD and the variables influencing employee satisfactions. The base of this report is the internal environment of Bangla TRAC Communications LTD. The report has been developed basically both on primary and secondary data. This paper is a successful one to get to know the actual factors of job satisfaction and to invent the limitation of the company. The head of Human Resources, my direct supervisor of Bangla TRAC Communications LTD was very helpful providing information about their company and to describe their HR policies and practices, which was needed for this specific topic. The key achievement of this paper came out by the gathered knowledge about the factors influencing employee satisfaction during the inspection and survey. Since, employee satisfaction is one of the most important and critical factor of an organization because if the employees are satisfied with their job then they give their best performance at the work place, which on the other hand, is beneficial for the company for its growth. So, I have achieved the proper knowledge about the employee satisfaction by the paper and practical learning was very much helpful to complete the report.Dil Afroz BushraB. Business Administration
Graphene based Solution Gated Field-Effect Transistors (SGFET) for biosensors
This thesis is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2018.Catalogued from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (page 49-52).Graphene based SGFETs offer several advantages over other sensing devices in aqueous environment due to the exceptional properties of Graphene. Properties of Graphene such as high tunability, sensitivity, rigidity, flexibility, chemical stability and bio-inertness plays a very crucial role in biosensors by not inducing scars and damages in the surrounding tissues. Also, being only one atom thick, allows the fabrication of fully flexible high performance Graphene transistor possible. We will study the various parameters, low frequency noise characteristics in Graphene based SGFETs and observe the I-V characteristic along with the shifts of the Dirac point which will help us to identify charged membranes upon Graphene. We will be working with positively charged DOTAP lipid bilayer membrane upon Graphene due to its viability with biosensors. This will give us the basis for understanding the mechanism of charged molecules sensing using Graphene device.Abdullah Hossain SarkerMaisha TabassumNafis ErfanB. Electrical and Electronic Engineerin

A machine learning approach on classifying orthopedic patients based on their biomechanical features
This thesis is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, 2018.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 46-48).A person’s orthopedic health condition can be detected from his biomechanical features. Application of machine learning algorithms in medical science is not new. Different algorithms are applied to detect diseases and classify patients accordingly. This paper aims to assist specialists to predict the type of orthopedic disease. In this paper we have applied various machine learning algorithms to find out which one works most accurately to detect and classify orthopedic patients. Each of the patients in the dataset is represented by six biomechanical attributes derived from the shape and orientation of pelvis and lumbar spine. We performed our operation in two stages and got an average accuracy of more than 90 percent for most of the algorithms, whereas Decision Tree (DT) algorithm stood out from the rest providing 99% accuracy.Kamrul HasanSafkat IslamMd. Short term load forecasting based on Internet of Things (IoT)
This thesis is submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering, 2018.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 37-38).In the era of internet every device is getting connected to the internet. In this paper, we have assumed that IoT devices can share their power consumption history. Based on data points collected from real world environment we have conducted experiments to show that IoT can be used as a reliable backbone of a short term load forecasting system. In the experiment four machine learning algorithms Long Short-term Memory (LSTM), Support Vector Machines Regression (SVR), Decision Forest Regression with AdaBoost and Nearest Neighbors Regression were used to analyze the performance of the load forecasting system. In the experiment Long Short Term Memory Network has given comparatively better result than other three machine learning algorithm with a root mean square error of 1.82.Mahdi Uz ZamanAnisul IslamNahid SultanaB.
