DIVERSITY OF WATER ENVIRONMENT GASTROPODA IN A EMPAYANG-KASAP RIVER IN THE DISTRICT LAHAT
This research has been conducted with the tittle the diversity of gastropods on the river water environment Empayang Lahat regency of South Sumatra province. The aim of this research species diversity of gastropods contained the region. This research was implemented conducted in October 2015, a river Empayang Kasap Sukajadi Lahat regency. The methods of this research is purposive random sampling method with 5 sampling stations, each station is divided into three substations (edges first, middle, edge 2) was determined by linear transects (line transect). The data of the sample was taken in the morning and afternoon. The results of this research were obtained 8 species of gastropods (Melanoides granifera, Elimia acuta, Brotia tetidinaria, Lymnae stagnalist, Lymnae rubiginosa, Pomacea canaliculata, Pila polita and Menetus sp) with 7 genus, and of the six tribes (families) of 4 order. The total index of the diversity in the river Empayang Kasap Sukajadi Lahat district was of 2.09 to 2.46. The highest levels of diversity found in the station V (2.46) and the lowest at station I (2.09). While the value of dominance index (C) with a range of 0.17 to 0.26 at five stations in the lower state, the highest level of dominance index at station I (0.26) and the lowest at station III (0.17). THE EFFECT OF APPLICATED ASH SAWDUST ON SWAMP LAND (INDRALAYA) FOR VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF RED PEPPER (Capsicum annum L.) VAR. CEMETI
The research " The Effect of Applicated Ash Sawdust on Swamp Land (Indralaya) For Vegetative Growth of Red Pepper (Capsicum annum L.) var. Cemeti ’’ has done, from September to November 2017. It was conducted at green house and Pest Diseases Plant Laboratory, Plant Protection Department, Agriculture Faculty, University of Sriwijaya. This research was aimed to know the effect of applicated ash sawdust on vegetative growth of red pepper. The Completely Randomized Design with treatments are : 10, 20, and 30 g/ kg marshland and without ash sawdust (control), with 6 replicates each treatments. The result showed that applicated ash sawdust on measure 10 g/ kg soil significantly on number of growth 53.28 cm and number of branch 9.2, but not differ on dry weight of red pepper.Keywords : Swamp land, ash sawdust, branch, red pepper
CONDITION OPTIMIZATION PRODUCTION XYLANASE THERMOSTABLE BY Bacillus licheniformis TS10 USING SUBSTRATE OIL PALM EMPTY FRUIT BUNCHES
Optimization conditions for thermostable xylanase production of Bacillus licheniformis TS10 by using substrate oil palm empty fruit bunches has been conducted from November 2015 to January 2016 in the Laboratory of Genetics and Biotechnology, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The aims of this study was to determine the potential of oil palm empty fruit bunches ( EFB ) as a substrate for the production of thermostable xylanase by Bacillus licheniformis TS10 and the optimum conditions of temperature, pH and substrate concentration in the fermentation process. The research method is to make the growth curve and the curve of Bacillus licheniformis TS10 enzyme production on EFB substrate. The number of bacterial cells was determined by using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer and total plate count (TPC) through a standard curve. Optimization performed at various pH (5, 6, 7, 8, 9), temperature (50 °C, 60 °C, 70 °C, 80 °C) and substrate (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%) , Test activity at each pH, temperature and substrate using methods DNS by measuring enzyme activity based on the reducing sugar released by the substrate by using dinitrosalicylic acid (DNS). Based on the results of this research showed that oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB ) has potential as a substrate for the production of thermostable xylanase by Bacillus licheniformis TS10, thermostable xylanase production of Bacillus licheniformis TS10 on the substrate EFB has an optimum condition at pH 6, 80 °C and the substrate concentration of 4%
CHARACTERISTICS OF MACROZOOBENTHOS COMMUNITY WITH SUBSTRATES TYPE AT WARKUK RIVER DISTRICK OF WARKUK RANAU SELATAN, OKU SELATAN REGENCY, SOUTH SUMATERA
The research about Characteristic of Macrozoobenthos Community With Substrates Type At Warkuk River Districk of Warkuk Ranau Selatan, OKU Selatann Regency, South Sumatera has been conducted from May 2013 to December 2015. This study aims to analysis of characteristic and makrozoobenthos composition in substrat type, analysis about physic and chemistry condition at Warkuk River. Determination of sampling sites were conducted by Random Sampling. The Sample of macrozoobenthos were identified at the Laboratory of Research Institute for Inland Fisheries Mariana, Palembang. From the results obtained, are grouped into 3 classes of macrozoobenthos namely Insecta, Gastropoda and Oligochaeta, which is classified into 9 orders consists of 14 families, 16 spesies. Density ranging from 1155,56 to 1755,56 individuals/m2. Level of diversity are high, ranging from 1,95 to 2,41 and dominance index ranging from 0,31 to 0,40. Family Biotic Index (FBI) ranging from 3,47 to 3,98 with the water quality category of excellent.Key words : Warkuk River, Macrozoobenthos, Substrat Typ
DISTRIBUTION AND DIVERSITY OF BUTTERFLIES (Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera) IN CAMPUS AREA INDRALAYA SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH SUMATRA
oai:ojs.biovalentia.mipa.unsri.ac.id:article/44Research on Diversity and distribution of butterflies, was held at the Campus Indralaya Sriwijaya University of South Sumatra. The purpose of this study was to obtain information species diversity of butterflies at the Sriwijaya University of Inderalaya and distribution of species of butterflies in several different habitat types in the campus area Unsri Indralaya. The study used purposive and collection methods in November 2014-january 2015. Sampling sites were divided into five locations: Arboretum, Science Faculty, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Agriculture and Swamp Cape Disconnect. The parameters used are the index of species diversity, dominance index, and evenness index. The results showed that the diversity of butterflies in the region is classified as moderate. Overall found as many as 40 species of butterflies with a number of 609 individuals consisting of 5 the Papilionidae, Nymphalidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae, and Hesperiidae. Regions Sriwijaya University has a diversity of butterflies that were moderate with criteria (H'1≤H'≤3), in each different habitat types, and not found butterfly species that dominate in every type of habitat in this Unsri region. Distribution of butterflies found in the campus area Unsri Indralaya categorized fairly evenly with a range of values from 0.58 to 0.68.Keywords: Butterflies, Diversity, Distribution , Sriwijaya University of Indralay
CHANGE OF MARCHANTIA SP SIZE AND COLOUR RELATED TO DISTANCE FROM WATER RESOURCE IN CUGHUP EMBUN, SOUTH SUMATERA
An invesgation about size and colour of Marchantia sp moss, had been done in Cughup Embun water fall, Pagar Alam, South Sumatera, Indonesia at November 9th, 2014(end of drough season). The aim was to know wether the distance from water fall (air and soil moisture) should effect the size and colour of those moss. Twenty meters sistematically distance in 4 points location from above slope to water fall pond; 5, 25, 45, 65 and 85 m were considered for Marchantia sp sampling. Body size, colour and existing of Sporangium were noted. It is found that the size of moss body gradually bigger from 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.3 cm. Colour of moss change An from pale brown, pale green, green and deep green. Amount of archegoniopore seems exist in many number at 45 m distance from above ground.Keywords: Marchantia sp, moisture, archegoniopore, antheridiopore
A SIMPLE PROTOCOL FOR SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS INDUCTION OF IN VITRO SUGARCANE ( Saccharum officinarum. L) BY 2,4-D AND BAP
Induction of in vitro sugarcane through somatic embryogenesis technique influenced by addition of plant growth regulator. The objective of this research was to determine appropriate formulation medium for indirect somatic embryogenesis induction on two potential sugarcane SUT Event 02 and PS 881. This research carried out in three steps, callus induction, callus proliferation, and shoot regeneration. Explants taken from basal of in vitro plantlet one month SUT Event 02 and PS 881 resulted from shoot regeneration previously. Five different medium formulas applied for callus induction and one formula for proliferation and shoot regeneration. Research using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with five different formulation induction mediums. The result showed that the best respond of indirect somatic embryogenesis on SUT Event 02 and PS 881 was medium containing 3 mgL-1of 2,4-D
FOOD HABITS AND FEEDING HABITS OF BARRAMUNDI FISH (Lates calcarifer Block) IN TERUSAN DALAM (INSIDE CANAL) WATERS, EAST COAST OF SOUTH SUMATERA PROVINCE
Research about the food habits and feeding habits of Barramundi (Lates calcarifer Block) in Terusan Dalam (inside canal) waters, East coast of South Sumatera Province, had been done during March to June 2012. The purpose of this research was to analyze the food habits and feeding habits of Barramundi (Lates calcarifer Block) on Terusan Dalam (inside canal) waters, East coast of South Sumatera Province. Sampling method of the fish was purposive sampling method using Tangsi net. The results of this research showed that the number of fish from March to June totaled 31 individuals of fish. Based on the Relative Importance Index (RII), the natural food of Barramundi (Lates calcarifer Block) in March to June 2012 consisted of shrimp as the main food with the Relative Importance Index 72.37-99.51%, the fish was as the complement food with the Relative Importance Index 11.33-27.63%, and as the additional food was the worm with Relative Importance Index 0.49%.Keywords: Barramundi, food habits, feeding habit
THE BIRDS OF PALEMBANG PUNTI KAYU RECREATION FOREST, SOUTH SUMATRA, INDONESIA
The Punti Kayu Recreation Forest is artificial pine forest designated as “lungs” and park in Palembang City. The birds recorded in Punti Kayu were reviewed to looking at the importance of the forest for natural habitat of birds. A total of 44 species from 24 families of bird was recorded here. EFFECT OF ARCHITECTURAL TREE MODEL TO THE NOISE LEVEL OF MOTOR VEHICLE ON DEMANG LEBAR DAUN STREET PALEMBANG
The research on the effect of architectural tree model to the noise level of motor vehicles on Demang Lebar Daun Street Palembang has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to analyze kind of architectural tree model can reduce the highest noise levels among the architectural tree models encountered and identify the architectural tree model. The method used was purposive sampling. Measurement of the noise level and architectural models were selected according to the type of the tree encountered on the left or right side of the street. The noise level measurement during the daylight was carried out simultaneously at a point of 1 meter in front of the tree, 1 and 5 meters behind the tree,for 10 minutes with the readings for every 5 seconds at 07:00, 10:00, 15:00 and 20:00. The results showed that The architectural model of Switenia magahoni tree was Rauh model, Lagerstroemia sp. tree was Troll model and Thyrsostachys siamensis tree was McClure model. The highest noise level reduction was from bamboo tree, respectively by 4,88 dB (A) and 8,52 dB (A) at the distances of 1 and 5 m. Keywords: noise level, reduction, architectural tree mode
