    The Need of Dental Insurance Plan in India-Survey

    INTRODUCTION:  Practically in every developed country, dental insurance is available to a large number of people. It reimburses a percentage of dental visits and other dental treatment providers. Dental hygiene is an essential component of our daily lives. In most industrialized nations, dental insurance is one of the most common type of medical insurance, but not in India. Dental insurance shields consumers from the financial strains that come with unexpected dental expenses. If dental insurance were available, more people would seek dental care, reducing the hardening of dental disease and future costs for expensive dental treatment. If and when dental insurance is provided, it will have a favorable influence on people's attitudes toward dental care. The availability of dental insurance will help to improve oral health. Dental insurance will encourage patients to take better care of their teeth, resulting in improved oral health. AIM AND OBJECTIVES: To formulate & introduce a comprehensive dental insurance plan in India. To evaluate people’s & dentist’s view on need of dental insurance in India. MATERIALS AND METHOD: Online questionnaire based, cross sectional study, conducted between 1st January 2022 to 30th January 2022, data was collected by filling the online questionnaire form from dentists & patients. RESULT: There is demand & need for comprehensive dental insurance plan in India. CONCLUSION: Government should provide dental insurance as part of general health care insurance to promote oral hygiene and dental field, also leading to control of the oral disease burden in India

    Monkeypox is a zoonotic illness caused by the monkeypox virus, and it is the most common orthopox virus infection after smallpox was eradicated. Cases of the monkeypox virus have been reported outside of Africa, in nations where the disease is not prevalent, such as Europe, the United States, and Latin America. Can this be start of a pandemic?. The World Health Organization (WHO), which is closely monitoring the viral outbreak Monkeypox, a smaller version of Small pox, has stated that it is unlikely that the outbreak would spread beyond Africa. More than 300 instances of the Monkeypox virus have been reported thus far, both suspected and confirmed. The virus is endemic in Central and West African countries; however the majority of cases have occurred in Europe. Close contact with an infected person is regarded to be the most common method of human-to-human transmission. Transmission may occur during sexual intercourse, according to some evidence. Bites and scratches, bush meat processing, direct contact with bodily fluids or lesion material, or indirect contact with lesion material, such as through contaminated bedding, are all possible ways for animals to transmit disease to humans

    Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Smoking Cessation Advice among Dental Students in Delhi-NCR

    INTRODUCTION: The problem of tobacco abuse is not recent and has been documented well in history in various cultures all over the world. Dental colleges house vast number of potential tobacco cessation counsellors as budding health professionals who are in direct contact with patients. AIM: The main objective of present study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of smoking cessation advice among dental students in Delhi-NCR. MATERIALS AND METHOD: A cross sectional study was conducted among 2953 undergraduate clinical students of third year, fourth year and Internship were enrolled in the study from 18 dental colleges in Delhi- National Capital Region (NCR) using a pre-tested, self-administered questionnaire was employed as an instrument. The questionnaire’s content, face and criterion validity were checked and reliability was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha and Inter Class Co-relation. Statistical analysis used included  quantitative statistics, student t test and ANOVA. RESULTS: Students demonstrated considerable knowledge regarding smoking related policies in the institution, technique and products used for smoking cessation and impact of smoking on oral health, general health and treatments to be performed. However, only half of them had a positive attitude towards tobacco cessation counselling to patients and practice this in the hospital setting. CONCLUSION:  Based on the results of the study, there is a need to further motivate students on smoking cessation advice

Emporiatrics, also known as travel medicine is a multidisciplinary speciality that promotes health and provides prevention and management of health problems encountered by international travellers, with a primary emphasis on preventive pre-travel care. It suggests the need to consult health care professional beforehand and if required referral to travel medicine specialist. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness about this issue for the well being and safety of the tourists

    Pulmonal Bacillus Calmette-Guerin Infection 24 Months after Intravesical BCG Installation

    BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin) immunotherapy is a method which is an emerging form of cancer treatment. BCG attaches to the bladder wall and stimulates an immune response to destroy the cancer cells. Complications of BCG therapy are due to reactivated infection or a hypersensitivity reaction and thus may be treated with antimycobacterial agents, corticosteroids, or both. BCG therapy instillations should also be stopped if complications occur during the treatment period.
