A Rare Case Report of an Infant With Bilateral Nephroblastoma
Nephrogenic rest is the metanephric blastema that persists at birth. When found in multiple numbers, these rests are referred to as nephroblastomatosis. We report a rare case of a 3 month old female infant with bilateral nephroblastoma detected soon after birth and treated successfully with chemotherapy alone. Regular investigative procedures are a must to reveal these kind of rare disorders
The Prevalence of Root Fractures among Patients Visiting a Specialised Tertiary Care Dental Care Clinic
INTRODUCTION: Following endodontic therapy, the development of root fracture(s) is considered to be a risk factor. It can be diagnosed accurately with the help of various radiographic aids.AIM: To assess the prevalence of horizontal and vertical root fractures among endodontically treated teeth among patients visiting a specialised tertiary care dental care clinic.METHODOLOGY: Patients suspected of having root fracture (due to endodontic treatment or non-endodontic treatment) were confirmed with the help of radiographic aids (IOPAR, OPG and occlusal radiographs). Root fractures due to endodontic treatment were then classified as horizontal and vertical root factures and analysed using the student’s t-test, ANOVA and odd’s ratio (OR). Data was analysed using SPSS version 21.0RESULTS: The study population comprised of 383 subjects. Males (207, 54%) formed a majority of the study population. Majority of fractures were seen in females [(162, 58.5%), endodontically treated teeth], while a slightly increased prevalence was seen among males (92, 86.8%) in non-endodontically treated teeth. A total of 277(72.3%) teeth were endodontically treated [155(55.9%) horizontal and 122(44.1%) vertical fracture], while 106(27.7%) were 155 non-endodontically treated teeth [63(59.4%) horizontal and 43(40.6%) vertical fracture]. A significance difference between horizontal and vertical root fractures [p=.005(t-test), p=.0025(ANOVA)] was seen. Odd’s ratio analysis revealed that horizontal fractures (OR=2.2) were more prone to develop as compared to vertical fractures.CONCLUSION: Owing to the fact that endodontically treated teeth are more brittle as compared to non-endodontically treated teeth, it is advised that the dental clinician should closely routinely follow- up endodontically treated teeth for signs of root fracture and confirm with a radiographical aid when such fractures are suspected

Prevalence and Pattern of Third Molar Impaction among Residents of District Panchkula, India
valence varies from one geographic location to another.AIM: To assess the prevalence of third molar Impaction among residents of District Panchkula, IndiaMATERIALS AND METHODS: The study adopted a cross-sectional study design and impacted molars that were observed during routine diagnostic procures that required the taking of an IOPAR were selected, after which, the patients were advised to go for an OPG to determine the number of impacted teeth as well as the angulation of those teeth.RESULTS: The study comprised of 306 study subjects, with a majority of them being males (194, 63.4%); The most frequent number of third molar impactions were of one teeth (163, 53.3%), followed by two teeth (96, 31.4%). Mesioangular impaction (170, 55.5%) was the most common type, followed by vertical impactions (82, 29.8%). A significant difference was observed upon comparison of location and gender (p=0.04%). Odds’ Ratio (OR) analysis also found that males were 1.6 times more prone of having impactions as compared to females.CONCLUSION: Upon suspicion of having the presence of impacted molars, dentists of Panchkula region are advised to take an OPG and manage the same accordingly so that complications arising from an impacted tooth can be avoided

We face numerous challenges in maintaining the oral health, we seek help from western/ modern medicine and also search for remedies from the herbal medicine. Modern medicine is a blessing but is limited by the glut of side effects associated with its use. Most oral diseases are infections from caries to periodontal problems are caused by micro-organisms. Antibiotics can be successfully used in their treatment but the world is facing the threat of antibiotic resistance. Considering all these factors, we have been striving to find alternatives to the modern medicines and have started switching back to ayurveda and homeopathy

Clinical and Radiographic Characteristics of the Primary Teeth Indicated For Pulpectomy: A Cross-Sectional Analysis
Introduction- Although difficult to achieve but an accurate diagnosis of pulp status is important for the success of pulp therapy in primary teeth. Clinical signs and symptoms, as well as radiographic characteristics, are important in this regard. Material and methods- This cross-sectional analysis evaluated the clinical and radiographic characteristics in 60 decayed primary mandibular second molars from children aged 4-8 years indicated for single visit pulpectomy treatment based on their history, clinical examination and radiographic examination. Results- Pain was present in 60% of cases followed by tenderness on percussion (1.7%) and sinus tract (1.7%). Evaluation of duration of onset of pulpal involvement revealed 86.7% cases had chronic involvement whereas 13.3% cases showed an acute exacerbation of chronic involvement. Irreversible pulpitis was present in 68.3% cases followed by pulp necrosis in 28.3%. Only 7 out of 60 cases indicated for pulpectomy showed radiographic involvement in periapical or furcation areas. Conclusion- Pain was the most common symptom. Majority of cases had chronic involvement and irreversible pulpitis was the most common indication for pulpectomy followed by pulp necrosis. Only a few cases indicated for pulpectomy in the present study had radiographic involvement present
The Prevalence Onychomycosis in North Western Region of Rajasthan
NTRODUCTION: Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of nail caused by dermatophytes, yeast and mould. Onchomycosis infection continues to spread worldwide and found to persist everywhere. Onchomycosis infection prevalence is continuously increasing and the possible fungal pathogens are also increasing. All nail diseases are not fungal in origin hence laboratory investigations are needed to differentiate accurately between fungal infections and other conditions.AIM: to find out mycological profile & morphological identification of fungal agent in onchomycosis infection and their prevalence in a part of Rajasthan.MATERIALS AND METHOD: A total 50 samples of nail clipings were investigated in department of microbiology by using 20% KOH and culture tubes of Sabouraud’s Dextrose Agar (SDA) which were mixed with chloramphenicol and cycloheximide.RESULT: A total of 50 samples (18 male and 32 females) were tested in period of one year (January to December 2016). Among them 28(56%) samples showed fungal growth, the predominat fungual pathogen in present study were Tricophyton spp. 12 (42.86%) followed by yeasts 09 (32.14%) then molds 07(25%). Fungi commonly presented in the middle age, between 31-40 years of age, due to trauma at the work site and in women, due to their wet work.CONCLUSION: This study highlighted that Dermatophyte T.Rubrum as the main fungal pathogen which caused onychomycosis in the study region. As there are several fungi which cause the infection so it is necessary to perform culture for appropriate treatment So, it is imperative to diagnose it properly by using microbiological techniques and to treat it properly. For proper management of onychomycosis, diagnosis and accurate treatment play a key role in better outcome
