Interfaith and Cultural Community Meeting in Weaving National Identity Based on the Huma Betang Philosophy in Palangka Raya
Palangka Raya is characterized by ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity. It shows that the Dayak people, as indigenous people, have lived alongside the immigrants. Huma Betang’s philosophy significantly affects society across religions and cultures. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the Huma Betang philosophy in cross-religious and cultural community encounters in knitting national identity in Palangka Raya. This research uses a qualitative method with a sociology of religion approach. In this case, the data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and literature study. The results of the research found that the existence of the Palangka Raya community in the socio-cultural and religious space is based on the Huma Betang philosophy and the motto Bumi Tambun Bungai Bumi Pancasila. These two things are not only implemented for fellow Dayak tribes but also for people with different backgrounds who are categorized as immigrants in Palangka Raya. It is strengthened by the community’s appreciation of humanitarian actions. In this way, the experience of living together in a space across religions and cultures becomes a national spirit based on humanitarian action
Mediatization and Hypermediation in Digital Religion and the Transformation of Indonesian Muslim Religious Practices through Social Media Usage
This article examines mediatization and hypermediation in digital religion concerning contemporary Muslim religious practices, particularly in Indonesia, through social media. This study employed a qualitative approach through library study of offline and online sources. The findings reveal that mediatization has altered the way Indonesian Muslims understand and practice their religion. Social media facilitates virtual religious practices and creates a hybrid space between online and offline religious activities. Hypermediation, through platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp, strengthens individual religious identity and collectively reinforces religious communities. Social media also affects the structure of religious communities by challenging traditional authority through the emergence of popular religious figures in the virtual world. This article contributes significantly to understanding religious transformation in the digital age and is a foundation for further research. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding the social and cultural implications of integrating social media into Muslim religious practices in Indonesia. It highlights the complexity of the relationship between religion, technology, and identity in the current context of digital globalizatio
Mengulas Peran Imajinasi dalam Pencarian Kebenaran dan Keyakinan Perspektif Immanuel Kant dan Cornelius Castoriadis
This research aims to examine the extent to which imagination plays a role in the search for truth and the formation of human beliefs, with a focus on the perspective of Immanuel Kant and Cornelius Castoriadis. Kant, within the framework of his critical philosophy, underscores the central role of imagination in shaping our aesthetic, moral and knowledge experiences. Imagination, for him, is the power of synthesis that connects empirical data with pure concepts of reason. Meanwhile, Castoriadis sees imagination as a creative force that underlies the formation of society and individual identity. Imagination, in Castoriadis\u27s perspective, is the source of all social institutions, values and norms. This study will carry out an in-depth comparison between Kant\u27s and Castoriadis\u27 views regarding the role of imagination. It is hoped that this comparative analysis will reveal the points of contact and differences between the two philosophers, as well as provide a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics of imagination in human life. This research uses a conceptual analysis approach to analyze and compare the ideas of the two philosophers. In this way, it is hoped that it can contribute to philosophical studies regarding epistemology, especially regarding the formation of knowledge and reality. Apart from that, this study is also relevant to the study of social philosophy, because imagination has a central role in the formation of society and collective identity
Etika Kecerdasan Artifisial (AI): Sebuah Eksplorasi Metaetika atas Kebijakan Regulasi AI di Indonesia dan Internasional
This article examines the regulation of AI development and usage at the national and international levels using a metaethical approach. The defended thesis is that AI cannot be positioned as a moral agent because it lacks the feature of consciousness (an epistemological problem). The subjective reality formed by human thought and consciousness differs from the reality formed by AI\u27s computational processes (an ontological problem). This article is an articulation of research categorized as a literature study with qualitative data analysis, referring to key documents on AI ethics at the national and international levels. The conclusion drawn is that all AI actions are subordinate to human actions and are therefore never value-free. AI is not a moral agent, and the regulation of AI development, application, and usage requires an ethical framework that can accommodate moral progress in a manner that aligns linearly with the rapid innovation progress of AI over time. In other words, AI regulation must operate within a dialectical framework that allows space for evaluation and re-contextualization to remain relevant to the dynamics of social and cultural realities
Hermeneutics, Revelation, and the Critique of Religious Authority: Understanding Shabestari’s Intellectual Reform Project
This study aims to examine Mohammad Mojtahed Shabestari’s intellectual reform in post-revolutionary Iran by investigating how the qerā’at-e rasmī (official reading) becomes plausible and how it can be theologically dismantled. Using a qualitative conceptual-textual analysis of Shabestari’s major works, supported by selected secondary literature, the article reconstructs his shift from a dictation model of waḥy to revelation as dialogical prophetic experience (blick) and the Qur’an as the Prophet’s historically mediated reading of the world. It then explicates a dual-layer hermeneutics (prophetic and communal) and argues that hermeneutics functions as a foundational epistemic framework for tafsīr, fiqh, and kalām. The findings indicate that Shabestari’s project delegitimizes interpretive monopoly, enables contextual ijtihād, and supports interpretive pluralism and political minimalism centered on freedom of faith. A procedural reading of qiṣāṣ illustrates how the model can yield restorative, dignity-oriented normative outputs. The novelty lies in integrating Shabestari’s revelation theory and authority critique into a single hermeneutical canvas with demonstrable ethical, legal, and political consequences
The Liberal-Rejectionist Approach in Hadith Studies: A Literature Review of the Concept and Impact on Societal Intellectual Discourses: Pendekatan Liberal-Rejectionist dalam Studi Hadits: Tinjauan Literatur tentang Konsep dan Dampaknya terhadap Wacana Intelektual Masyarakat
The difference between today’s social reality and the historical context in which the hadith emerged necessitates a reinterpretation of several texts that are not always consistent with the dynamics of modern society. This need for adjustment has given rise to a liberal-rejectionist approach that seeks to interpret the hadith in a more historical, rational, and contextual manner, particularly with respect to issues of justice, gender bias, and universal human values. Although more relevant to contemporary society, this approach still raises methodological and epistemological issues related to the authority of the hadith and the limits of reinterpretation. In this context, this study formulates two main foci: first, how the concepts and practices of the liberal-rejectionist approach are understood in hadith studies; and second, the epistemological and social impacts of this approach on the authority of hadith and on the religious practices of Muslims. This study employs a systematic literature review following PRISMA guidelines, covering the stages of searching, selecting, extracting, and analyzing 33 scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The analysis employed a qualitative thematic approach to explore the conceptual, methodological, and social impact patterns that emerged in the literature. The results show that the liberal-rejectionist approach arose from the need to respond to several hadiths deemed incompatible with developments in social reality, particularly those concerning gender issues, human rights, and social justice. This approach presents a more historical and contextual reading, thereby bridging the gap between the text and changing realities. This approach is manifested in the reinterpretation, recontextualization, and rejection of certain hadiths, with attention to potential narratorial bias and the socio-historical context. These findings reveal a shift in perspective on the authority of hadith and have sparked debate between progressives and traditionalists over the legitimacy of this approach
The Relationship between Truth and Art in Martin Heidegger\u27s Thought: An Analysis of Relevance to the Existence of AI Chatbots
This research explores the relationship between truth and art in Martin Heidegger\u27s philosophy, particularly its relevance to the existence of AI chatbots. Heidegger redefines truth not as static correspondence but as aletheia—unconcealment, where entities reveal themselves through processes such as art and language. Art, for Heidegger, is the primary means by which truth is disclosed, opening up new worlds and perspectives beyond ordinary perception. In contrast, modern technology, epitomized by AI, operates through Enframing (Gestell), which reduces beings to resources, obscuring their authentic revelation. The central question of this research is whether AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Gemini, can engage in the unconcealment of truth as Heidegger describes it or if they are merely mechanical simulations of human creativity. Through an analysis of Heidegger’s concepts of aletheia and Gestell, the study examines the ontological implications of AI in relation to human existence and the unveiling of truth. The research finds that, despite their ability to generate text that simulates human conversation, AI chatbots lack the existential grounding of Dasein—the human condition necessary for true unconcealment. Therefore, while AI may mimic creativity, it cannot genuinely participate in the revelation of truth in Heideggerian terms. The study concludes by emphasizing the irreplaceable role of human engagement in the process of aletheia, which AI systems, by nature, cannot replicate, offering a critique of AI’s impact on understanding of art, truth, and human authenticity
Sermons, Controversy, and Community Resilience in Surakarta Mosques
This reasearch aims to explore the forms of controversial religious narratives in the Sagara and Jagananta Mosques in Surakarta, as well as the congregation’s responses to these narratives. The research location is significant because both mosques have been involved in the emergence of an Islamic purist group associated with intolerance and radicalization. The study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach and content analysis, through observations and interviews with eleven mosque members representing the surrounding community. The findings indicate that the controversial narratives emerging in Friday sermons and religious lectures include one-sided condemnations of government policies, political views of other groups, and the demonization of certain communities. In general, the congregations in both mosques demonstrate resilience by questioning and rejecting these narratives, relating them to more official and legitimate sources of information. They respond realistically, rejecting calls such as the condemnation of anti-terrorism laws and the belief that online games are a Jewish attack. Conversely, some more vulnerable members of the congregation affirm these narratives, influenced by feelings of victimization and shared political views. These findings suggest a contestation of religious orientations, which has implications for social transformation within the community
Understanding Misogynistic Hadiths from The Perspective of Fazlur Rahman’s Double Movement Hermeneutics: Memahami Hadis Misoginis dalam Perspektif Hermeneutika Gerakan Ganda Fazlur Rahman
Gender issues constitute a prominent area of inquiry in Islamic studies, particularly about the interpretation of hadith. This is due to the frequent portrayal of women in subordinate positions within patriarchal constructions, including in the interpretation of hadith texts. Several hadiths are even perceived to carry misogynistic discourse, raising critical questions regarding gender justice in Islam. Departing from this discourse, this study formulates two main research questions; first, how can the contextualization of hadiths considered misogynistic be understood within Islam? second, how can Fazlur Rahman’s double movement hermeneutical approach aid in interpreting such hadiths?Utilizing a literature review method and a qualitative-descriptive approach, this research explores the dialectical relationship between the original socio-historical context in which the hadiths were revealed and the universal principles that may be derived to address contemporary challenges. The findings indicate that the emergence of misogynistic views is largely influenced by conservative scholars’ interpretations, which often rely on sacred texts as ontological foundations. These interpretations tend to neglect the socio-historical aspects accompanying the hadiths’ emergence, especially significant in a modern era characterized by fundamentally different social constructs. Therefore, hadiths deemed misogynistic need to be reinterpreted more justly through a socio-cultural lens grounded in the Prophet’s time, as well as through universal ethical values aligned with the spirit of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah
The Role of Hadith in Learner Character Building: An Analysis of The Tradition of Muslim Family Education: Peran Hadis dalam Pembentukan Karakter Peserta Didik: Analisis pada Tradisi Pendidikan Keluarga Muslim
Character development in education cannot be separated from the role of the family as the first and main environment in the process of internalizing good values. In the tradition of Islamic education, especially related to the Muslim family, the Ḥadīth becomes one of the main sources of shaping the moral and spiritual values of students. This study examines in depth the role of Ḥadīth in the formation of children’s character through the tradition of Muslim family education. Two questions become the starting point of the study: first, how is Ḥadīth conceptualized in the form of a character education framework; second, how is the implementation of Ḥadīth in overcoming the moral-spiritual crisis of each learner? Through a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach based on library research, data is obtained from observation and inventory of various literatures that speak about this matter. The results showed that the Ḥadīth is not only a normative foundation, but also used as a practical guide in shaping character such as honesty, responsibility, courtesy, and empathy. In fact, the prophet also consciously modeled the importance of good character which was reflected in the relationships that took place with the companions. In addition, the integration of Ḥadīth values in daily family routines has proven effective in building children’s moral awareness from an early age. In the end, this study confirms the importance of revitalizing the role of Ḥadīth in family-based character education to strengthen the moral foundation of the young Muslim generation in the modern era
