    From Philosophical Reinterpretation to Operational Unity: A Mixed-Methods, International Lunar Date Line–Anchored Framework for a Pre-Calculated Global Hijri Calendar (Imkān al-Ruʾyah)

    This study examines whether—and how—a pre-calculated, single, uniform Hijri calendar can be justified from Qur’an and Hadith and operationalized with established astronomical rules. It addresses persistent disunity arising from fragmented practices in a highly interconnected “global village.” A mixed-methods design integrates: (i) a normative–conceptual analysis via Khaled Abou El Fadl’s negotiative method (text–author–reader) to derive scriptural bounds (twelve lunar months without intercalation; calculability; 29/30-day months; hilal as civil mīqāt; semantic range of ra’ā); and (ii) a computational–astronomical evaluation of a two-condition global rule anchored in the International Lunar Date Line (ILDL): S1—global conjunction occurs before local sunset along the IDL (~180°E; ±20° lat), and S2—an imkān al-ru’yah threshold is met on a 60°W test line (±20°; prototype 0.52% illumination). Topocentric ephemerides with standard parallax/refractive corrections (UTC, ΔT) are used, with ~500-year robustness checks and comparisons to regional criteria (e.g., MABIMS). Scriptural analysis legitimizes the use of information/calculation for dating while respecting Sunnah. The two-condition scheme prevents pre-conjunction starts (S1) and ensures expected visibility on the same day (S2). Simulations over ~500 years converge to the lunar synodic mean (~29.53 days) and align with the concept of ḥukmī ru’yah and Istanbul 2016 recommendations. Implementation mapping shows regional variation is historically instrumental; an IDL-anchored global maṭla‘ is operationally coherent. The study unifies a scripturally anchored rationale with ILDL-based imkān into a testable, auditable global rule and a realistic pathway for majority/minority contexts. Adoption of the two-condition rule, supported by a cross-national astronomy–fiqh clearing house and multi-year calendars, can synchronize worship dates and public services. Education systems benefit through stable academic calendars, assessment schedules, and digital platform integration across jurisdictions

    Technological developments in media are utilized by many people to expand the meaning of the Qur\u27an and its interpretation. The meaning of the Qur\u27an is presented passively through visual media, providing understanding and explanation as well as having an impact on the occurrence of consumerism in humans with its presence. This study aims to reveal how social media, in this case Instagram, uses verses from the Qur\u27an as arguments to convey messages in visual form, as well as how this influences followers who consume it. To achieve this objective, this study uses a qualitative method with content analysis as a tool for analysis. The emphasis on consumerism in the Instagram account @istiqomah.tahajud was identified using Jean Baudrillard\u27s approach to consumerism. The results of this study show that verses from the Qur\u27an, which should be understood in a theological context and through in-depth interpretation to gain a concrete understanding, are instead presented as part of a planned visual narrative that encourages people to continue consuming products that do not always display the full essence of a product, but only show its surface. Perkembangan teknologi dalam media dimanfaatkan oleh banyak orang untuk memperluas jangkauan makna dari al-Qur’an dan tafsir. makna al-Qur’an dihadirkan secara pasif melalui media visual memberikan pemahaman serta penjelasan sekaligus dampak bagi terjadinya konsumerisme pada manusia dengan kehadirannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan bagaimana media sosial dalam hal ini Instagram menggunakan ayat-ayat al-Qur’an sebagai dalil untuk menyampaikan pesan dalam bentuk visual, serta bagaimana pengaruhnya bagi para pengikutnya yang mengkonsumsi hal itu. Untuk mencapai tujuan tesebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan analisis konten sebagai alat untuk menganalisa. Penekanan terhadap aspek konsumerisme dalam akun Instagram @istiqomah.tahajud diidentifikasi dengan menggunakan pendekatan konsumerisme yang digagas Jean Baudrillard. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ayat-ayat al-Qur’an yang seharusnya bisa dipahami dalam konteks teologis dan tafsir yang mendalam untuk mendapatkan pemahaman secara konkrit justru dihadirkan sebagai bagian dari penguatan narasi yang bersifat ajakan secara visual yang direncanakan, sehingga mampu memantik seseorang agar terus mau mengkonsumsi produk yang sebenarnya tidak selalu menampilkan esensi secara utuh dari suatu produk dan hanya menampilkan bagian permukaannya saja

    Framing Al-Qur’an dalam Tren Marriage Is Scary di Media Online: Analisis Framing Model Robert Entman

    Marriage in a social and religious context is often considered sacred and capable of bringing happiness to couples. However, in today\u27s digital age, a new narrative known as Marriage Is Scary has emerged on social media, voicing fears about marriage. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach. The primary data for this study is limited to online media related to the Marriage Is Scary trend, namely Media Santri Nu and Tempo.co. Meanwhile, the secondary data for this study is sourced from related literature. In analyzing the data, this study uses Robert M. Entman\u27s framing analysis approach. The results of this study show that the Marriage Is Scary trend tends to focus on the negative aspects of marriage without offering balanced solutions. Several key factors that trigger fear of marriage in this trend include trauma from bad experiences, economic instability, and changes in social values that prioritize individualism. However, in Islam, marriage is not merely a social relationship, but also a form of worship and sunnah of the Prophet, as emphasized in QS. Ar-Rūm: 21. Pernikahan dalam konteks sosial dan agama sering dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang suci yang dapat mendatangkan kebahagiaan bagi pasangan. Namun, di era digital saat ini, muncul narasi baru yang dikenal dengan istilah Marriage Is Scary di media sosial yang menyuarakan ketakutan terhadap pernikahan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (library research). Data primer dari penelitian ini terbatas pada media online yang berkaitan dengan tren Marriage Is Scary, yaitu Media Santri Nu dan Tempo.co. Sedangkan data sekunder dari penelitian ini bersumber dari literatur-literatur yang terkait. Dalam menganalisis data, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis framing Robert M. Entman. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tren Marriage is Scary cenderung memfokuskan pada aspek negatif pernikahan tanpa menawarkan solusi yang seimbang. Beberapa faktor utama yang memicu ketakutan terhadap pernikahan dalam tren ini meliputi trauma dari pengalaman buruk, ketidakstabilan ekonomi, serta perubahan nilai sosial yang lebih mengedepankan individualisme. Namun, dalam pandangan Islam, pernikahan bukan sekadar hubungan sosial, melainkan juga sebuah ibadah dan sunnah Rasulullah, seperti yang ditegaskan dalam QS. Ar-Rūm: 2

    An Examination of Banjar Ethnic Marriage Customs From A Living Hadith Perspective: Telaah Perkawinan Adat Banjar dari Perspektif Living Hadis

    The assimilation of local culture with Islamic values continues to expand in various lines of Muslim life in the archipelago, especially in the Banjar community. One can be seen in the Banjar marriage tradition as a series of events. The tradition continues to be implemented and preserved by the local community. This research aims to trace further the process of cultural assimilation and its intersection with the prophet\u27s hadith. Two questions form the basis of the study: first, what is the process of involvement of the hadith (sunnah) in shaping the customs that have taken root in the community; second, what is the process of contextualization of the hadith text into the local context of the Banjar community?. The results show that the marriage custom, which was a local culture, has sunnah values that can then become a medium for the perpetrators to gain rewards and blessings. In addition, the universal values of hadith can also be applied in the form of hadith\u27s contextualization that is local culture

    The religious practices of Muslims consequence of the interpretive models they use present an interesting subject for study. The presence of both textual and contextual approaches has, to some extent, influenced differences in religious attitudes and behaviors. Therefore, this research seeks to identify the differences between textual and contextual models of understanding hadith and their influence on religious tolerance and interfaith cooperation. To begin the study, two research questions are posed: First, how do the attitudes toward religious tolerance compare between students with a textualist understanding and those with a contextualist understanding of hadith? Second, how do their attitudes toward cooperation differ in understanding hadith? These research questions are examined through quantitative research using a causal-comparative (ex post facto) method with a sample of second-semester students from the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Da\u27wah at IAIN Kediri. The research indicates that there is a significant difference between textual and contextual groups in terms of religious tolerance. The t-test results show a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, smaller than 0.050, indicating a statistically significant difference. Likewise, in terms of cooperation attitude between the textual and contextual groups, the t-test results showed a sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.050, so the difference is quite significant

    Artikel ini membahas praktik puasa dalam Agama Buddha, khususnya Hari Uposatha, yang memiliki makna spiritual mendalam. Puasa dalam konteks ini melibatkan delapan aturan moral dan lima aturan dasar, serta memiliki peran penting dalam pengembangan diri dan pencarian pencerahan. Melalui studi literatur, artikel ini mengungkapkan bahwa puasa dalam Agama Buddha digunakan sebagai sarana untuk mengendalikan hawa nafsu, mengembangkan ketenangan batin, dan mendekatkan diri pada pencerahan. Artikel juga menyoroti tata cara pelaksanaan Hari Uposatha yang dilakukan berdasarkan penanggalan Lunar, serta membahas permasalahan dan pertanyaan seputar praktik puasa dalam Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Selanjutnya, pembahasan mencakup sistem penanggalan Hari Uposatha, aturan-aturan khusus yang harus diikuti, dan aktivitas yang dapat dilakukan oleh umat Buddha selama menjalankan Uposatha. Selain itu, artikel mengeksplorasi cara umat Buddha dapat meningkatkan wawasan dan kesadaran diri selama Uposatha, termasuk melalui meditasi. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa meditasi memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga kesehatan mental dan meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi stres. Artikel mengakhiri dengan mengajukan pertanyaan kritis tentang bagaimana mengurangi efek dominansi budaya agama lain pada Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Solusinya mencakup dukungan terhadap organisasi Buddhis dan pendidikan umat Buddha mengenai ajaran Dhamma untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Artikel ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan dan solusi terhadap permasalahan terkait puasa dalam Agama Buddha di Indonesia. Kata kunci: puasa; uposatha; agama Buddha; Indonesia   This article discusses the practice of fasting in Buddhism, especially Uposatha Day, which has deep spiritual meaning. Fasting in this context involves eight moral rules and five basic rules, and has an important role in self-development and the search for enlightenment. Through literature study, this article reveals that fasting in Buddhism is used as a means to control lust, develop inner calm, and get closer to enlightenment. The article also highlights the procedures for implementing Uposatha Day which is carried out based on the Lunar calendar, as well as discussing problems and questions regarding the practice of fasting in Buddhism in Indonesia. Next, the discussion includes the Uposatha Day calendar system, special rules that must be followed, and activities that Buddhists can carry out while observing the Uposatha. Additionally, the article explores ways Buddhists can increase insight and self-awareness during Uposatha, including through meditation. Research also shows that meditation has an important role in maintaining mental health and improving students\u27 ability to deal with stress. The article concludes by asking critical questions about how to reduce the effects of cultural dominance of other religions on Buddhism in Indonesia. Solutions include support for Buddhist organizations and education of Buddhists in the teachings of the Dhamma to overcome these problems.     RELIGIOSITY AS PILLARS OF HOUSEHOLD INTEGRITY

    This article aims to analyze the Family Resilience Bill (RUU KK) through the maqasid al-syariah approach, focusing on the three main pillars in building a harmonious household, namely love (mahabbah), religiosity (taqwa), and humanity (karāmah insāniyyah). This research uses a normative-qualitative method with a content analysis approach to the text of the KK Bill, supporting academic documents, and sources of classical and contemporary Islamic literature. The analysis is carried out by interpreting the provisions in the Bill in accordance with the five main principles of maqasid al-shariah: hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-\u27aql, hifz al-nasl, and hifz al-mal. The results of the study show that although the KK Bill has the initial spirit to strengthen the family institution, many of the provisions in it are not in line with the principles of maqasid. The rigid and normative division of roles between husband and wife still strengthens the patriarchal structure and ignores the dynamics of reciprocal relations in the household. The protection of women and children does not fully reflect distributive justice, and the value of love as a spiritual basis in the family has little space. In addition, the legalistic-repressive approach in several articles has the potential to ignore the rehabilitative and affectionate aspects as the main characteristics of maqasid in the context of Islamic family law. This research is important as an academic contribution to the development of family regulations that are more humane, inclusive, and in accordance with substantive Islamic values. Thus, future family legislation is expected to be able to bring love-based justice, liberating religiosity, and respect for the dignity of all family members. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Rancangan Undang-Undang Ketahanan Keluarga (RUU KK) melalui pendekatan maqasid al-syariah, dengan fokus pada tiga pilar utama dalam membangun rumah tangga yang harmonis, yaitu cinta kasih (mahabbah), religiusitas (taqwa), dan kemanusiaan (karāmah insāniyyah). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode normatif-kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis isi terhadap teks RUU KK, dokumen akademik pendukung, dan sumber literatur Islam klasik dan kontemporer. Analisis dilakukan dengan menafsirkan ketentuan-ketentuan dalam RUU tersebut sesuai dengan lima prinsip utama maqasid al-syariah: hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-\u27aql, hifz al-nasl, dan hifz al-mal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun RUU KK memiliki semangat awal untuk memperkuat institusi keluarga, banyak ketentuan di dalamnya yang tidak sejalan dengan prinsip-prinsip maqasid. Pembagian peran yang kaku dan normatif antara suami dan istri masih memperkuat struktur patriarki dan mengabaikan dinamika hubungan timbal balik dalam rumah tangga. Perlindungan terhadap perempuan dan anak belum sepenuhnya mencerminkan keadilan distributif, dan nilai kasih sayang sebagai landasan spiritual dalam keluarga kurang mendapat tempat. Selain itu, pendekatan legalistik-represif dalam beberapa pasal berpotensi mengabaikan aspek rehabilitatif dan afeksi sebagai ciri utama maqasid dalam konteks hukum keluarga Islam. Penelitian ini penting sebagai kontribusi akademis bagi pengembangan regulasi keluarga yang lebih humanis, inklusif, dan sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Islam yang substantif. Dengan demikian, legislasi keluarga ke depan diharapkan mampu menghadirkan keadilan berbasis kasih sayang, religiusitas yang memerdekakan, dan penghormatan terhadap martabat seluruh anggota keluarga.     This paper explores how a community maintains its identity when it has to deal with changes. By using traditional Muslims in the city of Semarang as the group studied, this study examines how this group builds cultural defenses. The data in this sociological research were obtained through literature study, observation and interviews. Once collected, the data were analyzed descriptively. By using a cultural defense framework, traditional Muslim groups in Semarang build defense with three aspects; collective memory, rituals and symbols. All three are presented as an attempt to deal with modernity

    Tabut in Bengkulu: Comparative Perspectives of KKT and KETAB on Origins, Rituals, and Culturalization

    The Tabut tradition in Bengkulu is a cultural heritage with strong historical, social, and religious values. This tradition develops in two main groups, namely Kerukunan Keluarga Tabut (KKT) and Kerukunan Tabut Budaya (KETAB). These two groups have differences in the practice and meaning of traditions, so studying from a comparative perspective is interesting. This study aims to analyze the differences and similarities between KKT and KETAB in the implementation of the Tabut Tradition in Bengkulu. This study uses a qualitative method with a comparative study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with KKT and KETAB leaders, direct observation of the implementation of the Tabut Tradition, and related literature studies. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive-analytical techniques to understand the differences and similarities between the two groups. The results of the study show that although KKT emphasizes more religious and ritual aspects in the Tabut Tradition, while KETAB is more oriented towards cultural and tourism aspects, both still play a role in preserving traditions. In addition, it was found that the difference in meaning did not hinder social harmony between the two groups in the implementation of the Ark event every year. The difference in orientation between KKT and KETAB shows the flexibility of the Tabut Tradition in adapting to changing times.
