LCA and eco-design between innovation and responsibility Environmental policies and consumer protection
No full textThe evolution of environmental regulation and consumer protection law is driving a profound transformation of production and commercial models, gradually orienting them towards sustainability and social responsibility. This regulatory development raises a structural challenge: how to reconcile the reduction of environmental impacts with the parallel need to strengthen consumer protection. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and eco-design emerge as essential tools in this respect: LCA makes it possible to analyse environmental effects throughout a product’s life cycle, thereby providing a scientific basis for policies on responsible consumption and production, while eco-design integrates sustainability criteria at the design stage, fostering durability, repairability and recyclability. This transition is increasingly reflected in binding legal instruments. The Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) introduces stricter design requirements; Directive 2019/771 on legal guarantees reinforces the right to durable and repairable goods; and the proposed Green Claims Directive seeks to regulate environmental claims, preventing greenwashing and ensuring that information provided to consumers is verifiable and transparent. International standards such as ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 provide methodological guidance for LCA, while principles like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the precautionary principle impose regulatory obligations on producers to manage end-of-life processes and adopt preventive measures to minimise risks. The emerging right to repair further consolidates this approach, requiring manufacturers to provide spare parts and ensure access to information necessary for maintenance and repair

No full textNella guerra genocida in corso sulla Striscia di Gaza Israele ha distrutto tutte le università palestinesi con bombardamenti aerei o detonazioni controllate. Questo è accaduto nel pressoché assoluto silenzio della politica, dei media e perfino delle università occidentali. Ancora oggi, nonostante questi crimini di guerra siano ormai ampiamente documentati dall’ONU i media dei paesi che sostengono Israele continuano a tacere. A più riprese sono stati invece gli stessi docenti e lavoratori delle università di Gaza a prendere la parola, pubblicando una Open letter by Gaza academics and university administrators to the world (29.5.2024) e una Open letter from the presidents of Gaza universities (14.7.2025). In the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, Israel has destroyed all Palestinian universities through air strikes and controlled detonations. This has occurred in the near-total silence from Western political institutions, media, and even universities. To this day, despite these war crimes being extensively documented by the UN, the media in countries that support Israel continue to remain silent. In contrast, it has been the Palestinian academics and staff of Gaza's universities themselves who have repeatedly raised their voices, publishing an Open Letter by Gaza Academics and University Administrators to the World (29 May 2024) and an Open Letter from the Presidents of Gaza Universities (14 July 2025). In lieu of the editorial for issue no. 3, we are publishing their translation.
Per una nuova concezione della lettura: Roberto Calasso e le letterature straniere
No full textL’articolo si propone di tracciare una traiettoria di Roberto Calasso, traduttore, scrittore, direttore editoriale di Adelphi dal 1971 e Presidente della casa editrice milanese dal 1999. A partire dai primi articoli pubblicati su riviste e giornali culturali, si analizza la sua attività di mediatore editoriale, in relazione ai titoli che propone di tradurre, alle scelte traduttive e agli apparati paratestuali inseriti nei volumi tradotti. Il saggio indaga le modalità attraverso cui Calasso costruisce una propria poetica nelle vesti di editore prima e di scrittore poi, confrontandosi con diverse personalità del campo culturale italiano. L’obiettivo ultimo è quello di restituire un’immagine dell’intellettuale adelphiano da più prospettive cercando di definire il processo che lo ha portato ad essere una delle figure più influenti dell’editoria e della cultura italiane dagli anni Settanta ad oggi.
The paper aims to trace the trajectory of Roberto Calasso—translator, writer, editorial director of Adelphi since 1971, and president of the publishing house since 1999. Starting from his early articles published in cultural journals and newspapers, the study will analyze his role as an editorial mediator, focusing on the titles he sought to translate, his translation choices, and the paratextual elements included in the translated volumes. The paper explores how Calasso constructs his poetics, first as a publisher and later as a writer, engaging with various figures in the Italian cultural field. The ultimate goal is to provide a multifaceted portrait of the Adelphian intellectual, seeking to define the process that led him to become one of the most influential figures in Italian publishing and culture from the 1970s to the present

No full textThe ongoing technological advances are deeply changing our experience of photography. Yet, these changes do not make Derrida’s writings on photography any less relevant, on the contrary. This article emphasizes the relevance of Derrida’s perspective by comparing it with the creative and theoretical work of Joan Fontcuberta, one of the most original contemporary photographers and theorists of “post-photography”. Both have also commented Roland Barthes’ position on photography, but from different perspectives. Finally, by comparing Derrida and Fontcuberta, this essay attempts to highlight the philosophical relevance of photography

No full textThis article aims to explore the constitutive irresponsibility of literature in Jacques Derrida’s thought from the perspective of his analysis of the exis-tential possibility of Schuldigsein in Martin Heidegger’s fundamental on-tology. Drawing on the reading he undertakes in the 1978-1979 seminar delivered at the ENS entitled “Donner – le temps”, we seek to show how Derrida develops a form of silence prior to the call of conscience, a si-lence that opens, through literature, the space of ethical responsibility
