    No full text

The task of reconstructing the epigraphic corpus of an Attic deme can have many difficulties, which are different depending on the specific context. The case-study of Halai Aixonides is illustrative. Many documents, in fact, were taken for private and museum collections, and the attempt to trace them back to the original context of the deme is made all the more difficult by the homonymy with Halai Araphenides. In some cases, only by paying attention to the history of the finds and to the movements of the epigraphs, combined with other data, such as prosopographical links, it is possible to ascribe the inscriptions to the deme, in order to reconstruct a complete dossier.

The time from the reign of Philip 2nd (1556-1598) to Philip 3rd (1598-1621) is considered a space characterized by the cultural innovations, as well as the moment of appearance of renewed considerations concerning the previous textual traditions inherited. This is witnessed by the poetic generation that, among others, reactivates, updates and composes the new poetic texts known as romances nuevos. From this perspective, the main objective of the current research is to analyse a specific selection of phraseological uses within the Gongora’s ballads as one of the peaks of the 1580 generation of the Romancero Nuevo. The idioms of love are combined with paroemias and quasiparemic expressions as an object of study of Gongora’s burlesque uses in his special and one-of-a-kind verses

This research considers how the lexicographic coding process of Spanish may have influenced the configuration of one of the defining characteristics of the concept of phraseological unit: its graphic pluriverbality. Starting from the notion of univerbation and its relationship with orthographic fusion processes, analyzes the evolution of the criteria of the Real Academia Española for the writing of adverbial phrases in its first dictionaries. Taking into account the normative function of these works in orthographic matters, observes the componential reanalysis mechanisms that promote the graphic separation of the elements that make up these units. Keywords: historical phraseology, historical phraseography, historical lexicography, Real Academia Española, adverbial phrases

Among the numerous articles and works of contrastive studies of Spanish-Chinese phraseology, Chinese phraseological transcription terms such as, for example, chengyu, yanyu and shuyu are frequently encountered. Although these studies provide insight into the definition and characteristics of these units, and many Chinese authors explain them with Spanish phraseological terms, few authors comment in depth on the equivalence between these Chinese terms and their Spanish counterparts. Moreover, the reason why these terms are not translated has not been sufficiently explored, opting instead to keep the transcriptions, which may result in a lack of clarity. In this paper, we will address the equivalence between Chengyu and Spanish locutions from the phonological, grammatical, and semantic perspectives in order to provide a theoretical basis for future contrastive studies and for the translation of Chinese phraseological terms into Spanish.  Among the numerous articles and works of contrastive studies of Spanish-Chinese phraseology, Chinese phraseological transcription terms such as, for example, chengyu, yanyu and shuyu are frequently encountered. Estudio introductorio.

    No full text
The contribution of literature to citizen awareness within academic politics and teaching practice: Max Aub’s counterfactual reality Firstly, this paper aims to reassess the educational role of literature against the current policies of subordination of the humanities in the university study plans, reviewing of the opinions that make up the current debate on this subject. Secondly, as an example of the contribution of literature to citizen awareness, I will discuss the case of the writer Max Aub (1903-1972). In Aub’s literary production, along with the testimonial writings, texts based on imaginary situations abound. Among these writings stand out those which start from a counterfactual assumption. Although in some of these works a humorous streak stands out, the author’s attempt is not to produce a kind of escapist literature, but an indirect and non-dogmatic critique of reality. In this paper, I intend to show how the impossible realities he proposes to us can be useful to accustom students to look with more attentive eyes at their own living environments. &nbsp

Is the ‘Riba’ Identical to Bank Interest? Towards Understanding the Quranic Term ‘Ar-Riba’

    No full text
The Quranic term ‘ar-Riba’ is not explicitly defined in the Holy Quran or the Sunnah but has distinct characteristics in Quranic verses. It originates from the Arabic term ‘Raba,’ meaning ‘to grow’ or ‘to increase.’ Traditionalists and revivalists, adhering strictly to this literal meaning, equate ‘ar-Riba’ with contemporary bank interest, arguing that it is prohibited. This study challenges such interpretations by analyzing English translations of the Holy Quran from 1649 to 2023 using a quantitative approach with SAS. The findings indicate that the most accurate English equivalent of ‘ar-Riba’ is ‘usury,’ which inherently implies exploitation. Without this exploitative nature, equating ‘ar-Riba’ with bank interest is misleading. To reinforce these findings, the study examines Quranic commentaries, which align with this interpretation. Despite this, traditionalists, revivalists, and certain academic scholars strongly advocate for Islamic Banking and Finance (IBF), even though IBF institutions can be more costly than conventional banks. The $4 trillion IBF industry is largely based on the assumption that ‘ar-Riba’ equates to bank interest. This paper critically evaluates the exploitative elements of ‘ar-Riba’ through the lens of social justice theory and scrutinizes IBF institutions using legitimacy theory. In conclusion, the study urges scholars to avoid literal translations of ‘ar-Riba,’ as Quranic verses have historically been interpreted within their contextual framework

Integrating AI Technologies in Interest-Free Finance: Advancing Sector Capabilities through Innovative Model Proposals

    No full text
This study explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and interest-free finance, delving into the transformative potential of financial technology advancements in this sector. The aim establishes a theoretical framework for a financial interaction model grounded in machine learning, a subset of AI technologies. This framework underpins the development of novel digital contract methods adhering to the principles of interest-free finance. Central to this investigation is conceptualising and evaluating the "Benefit Sharing Model," which utilizes machine-learning techniques. This model serves as the foundation for eight distinct digital contract proposals, offering innovative solutions for the operational challenges in the interest-free finance sector. These digital models facilitate various financial interactions, such as deposit collection and financing processes, for users within the interest-free financial system. A significant study component involves a comparative analysis of these smart contract proposals, envisioned as blockchain-based, smart, interest-free financial contracts, against existing models in the field. This comparison demonstrates the technical feasibility and applicability of these proposals and highlights their uniqueness and potential advantages. This research contributes to the diversification and expansion of interest-free financial technology applications by introducing smart contract models and exploring their practical implications. It underscores the possibilities for broadening the scope and enhancing the growth of the interest-free finance sector, marking a significant step towards integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into ethical and interest-free financial practices.
