Syngas production improvement from CO2RR using cu-sn electrodeposited catalysts
Electrochemical reduction of CO2 is an efficient and novel strategy to reduce the amount of this greenhouse-effect pollutant gas in the atmosphere while synthesizing value-added products, all of it with an easy synergy with intermittent renewable energies. This study investigates the influence of different ways of combining electrodeposited Cu and Sn as metallic elements in the electrocatalyst. From there, the use of Sn alone or with a small amount of Cu beneath is investigated, and finally, the best catalyst obtained, which has Sn over a slight Cu layer, is evaluated in consecutive cycles to make an initial exploration of the catalyst durability. As a result of this work, after optimization of the Sn and Cu-based catalysts, it is possible to obtain more than 60% of the organic products of interest, predominantly CO, the main component of syngas. Improving home insurance ratemaking with geographically weighted poisson regression (GWPR) model: Assessing water damage risk
This study examines the consideration of spatial heterogeneity in the development of Home Insurance rates, specifcally focusing on water damage throughout Spain. This focus arises from the need to establish a methodology that not only improves ratemaking procedures for water damage but also acknowledges the potential impacts of climate change, allowing diferentiation in the efect of variables such as rainfall depending on the location and frequency of water claims. By using the GWPR model, spatial heterogeneity is taken into account and the ratemaking process is enhanced by identifying spatial clusters related to the frequency of water damage claims. Moreover, an empirical development has been carried out employing a database of home insurance data for water coverage in the Spanish territory. Madrid Soundscape Map: listening and identity_ MADLIST
This paper focuses on a research work in progress, Soundscape Map of Madrid: Identity and Listening, an interactive and accessible online map-based system. This research aims to build an informal digital space of situations, actions, experiences, listening, and physical data capable of highlighting the importance of sound in everyday life in the city center of Madrid. This multi-layered map is a place for local people, artists, researchers, urban planners, and municipalities to work together, as well as to provide collective knowledge about sound in the environment we live in and to enhance collaborative design for sustainable and creative environments. Ecotoxicity assessment of hydrochar from hydrothermal carbonization of biomass waste
We evaluate the ecotoxicity of hydrochar from hydrothermal carbonization (180 °C, 210 °C and 240 °C) of several biomass wastes (food waste, sewage sludge, swine manure and garden and park waste), with the aim on their applicability as soil amendments. Sequential washing of hydrochars showed both significant solubilization of organic matter and mineral metals in the leachates and immobilization of heavy metals in the hydrochars. Toxi-ChromoTest™ and Microtox® acute toxicity tests were used to determine the ecotoxicity of the leachates. The increase of the number of washing cycles and the carbonization temperature, except for sewage sludge and garden and park waste for the latter, positively affected the reduction of ecotoxicity. All hydrochars were found to be non-ecotoxic (EC50 > 3,000 mg/L), with those derived from food waste and swine manure the most ecotoxic due to their high concentrations of phenolic and halogenated compounds. Conversely, hydrochars from sewage sludge showed the lowest toxicity. Both hydrochars and washed hydrochars from food waste, swine manure and garden and park waste fulfilled the criteria established in Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 for a potential use as organic soil amendment
The PAU survey Enhancing photometric redshift estimation using DEEPz

Redshift estimation was performed using DEEPz, a deep learning photometric redshift code. We analysed the photometric redshift precision when varying the photometric and spectroscopic samples. Furthermore, we examined observational and instrumental effects on the precision of the photometric redshifts, and we compared photometric redshift measurements with those obtained using a template method-fitting BCNz2. Finally, we examined the use of photometric redshifts in the identification of close galaxy pairs. We find that the combination of samples from the W1 and W3 fields in the training of DEEPz significantly enhances the precision of photometric redshifts. This also occurs when we recover narrow-band fluxes using BB measurements. Supercritical concentration of ethyl laurate from coconut oil
Countercurrent extractions with supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) were carried out to fractionate ethyl laurate (EL) from a fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) mixture obtained by ethanolysis of coconut oil. The effect of pressure (9–14 MPa), temperature (40–70 °C) and CO2 flow rate (30–70 g/min) on the purity of ethyl laurate (EL-P) and long-chain saturated fatty acid ethyl esters (LCSFA-P) were investigated and modeled by Response Surface Methodology. Pressure had a positive effect on both responses. Higher temperatures led to larger EL-P, but lower LCSFA-P in the extracts. SCCO2 flow rate was only significant for EL-P and there was an interaction effect with temperature (highest EL-P achieved at the highest temperature and flow rate). The optimum experimental condition to reach a high EL-P and low LCSFA-P was 13 MPa, 70 °C and 70 g/min. The experimental EL-P and LCSFA-P achieved at that condition was 59.6 % and 14.2 %, respectively. The use of SCCO2 in a countercurrent column demonstrated to be a suitable technique that allowed obtaining an extract with an EL-P 20 % higher (enrichment factor of 1.2) and a LCSFA-P 50 % lower than those of the coconut oil used as feed. Rare Earths-Doped and Ceria-Coated Strontium Aluminate Platelets─Versatile Luminescent Platforms for Correlated Lifetime Imaging by Multiphoton FLIM and PLIM
We report our recent advances in the design and synthesis of functional and hybrid composite nanomaterials with properties geared toward life sciences assays and as platforms for biomedical imaging applications. Using a stepwise reverse micelle procedure, we synthesized hybrid platelets comprising rare earth-doped strontium aluminate cores labeled Eu,Dy:SrAlO, where the phase nominally denoted as Sr095Eu002Dy003Al2O4 dominates the nature of the composite, as demonstrated by extensive X-ray diffraction investigations. These were coated with a biocompatible cerium oxide shell, giving rise to the hierarchical hybrids denoted CeO2@Eu,Dy:SrAlO. Such Eu/Dy codoped strontium aluminates exhibit broad luminescent emissions with high optical sensitivity. The CeO2 shell further imparts biocompatibility and water dispersibility, resulting in kinetically stable nanoplatelets which can translocate into living cells in lifetime imaging protocols that were optimized for imaging across nano- and microscales. Multiphoton fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (MP FLIM) confirmed the luminescent properties in thin films and living cellular environments. These nanohybrids represent a significant step forward in the development of functional molecules and materials, leveraging directed and self-assembly strategies for their synthesis. Their luminescence (detectable by fluorescence as well as phosphorescence emission intensity correlated with emission lifetime), negligible toxicity on the time scale of imaging assays and up to 72 h, and biocompatibility with cellular milieu enabled their tracing with living cells. Their cellular activity was estimated by standard MTT assays in PC-3 and provided a further insight into their behavior in biological environments. The inclusion of heavy cerium and strontium atoms enhanced X-ray attenuation, supporting multimodal imaging by integrating optical and X-ray-based methods, which paves the way for potential applications in computed tomography correlated to confocal microscopy coupled with fluorescence lifetime imaging. The degreeof commissural misalignment (CMA) was assessed by computed tomography/angi-ography and 1‐year transvalvular gradients/regurgitation evaluated by echo-cardiography. A matched comparison according to annular dimensions/eccentricity,prosthesis size/type, and baseline left ventricular function and gradients wasperformed.Results: A total of 557 patients, mean age 80.7 ± 6.6 years, 61.4% men, and STSscore of 4.3 ± 3.1% were analyzed. A CA technique was attempted in 215 patients(38.6%), including 113 patients with AN2 and 102 patients with EP. None/mild CMAwas found in 158 (73.5% vs. 43.6% if no CA attempted, p < 0.001) with no differ-ences between devices (AN2:75.2%; EP:71.6%, p = 0.545). En 1602 Bernardo de Brito describía la peregrinación virtual a los santos lugares jerosolimitanos realizada por una hermana laica de Santa María de Lorvão. Este artículo explora las evidencias materiales y textuales de la existencia y desarrollo de tales prácticas en fechas anteriores, fundamentalmente en tiempos de la abadesa Catarina d’Eça (1471-1521). Influida por la Devotio Moderna, pero también por un claro propósito de restaurar y actualizar la memoria monástica de Lorvão a través de la liturgia, Catarina d’Eça habría transformado el monasterio laurbanense en la Jerusalén de la pasión de Cristo. Dicha abadesa se sirvió de imágenes, reliquias, relicarios, libros litúrgicos y otros ornamenta sacra para la articulación de las celebraciones conmemorando la pasión, pero también para la creación y afirmación de su auctoritas litúrgica.
